How are teams formed?

• Scholastic grade (at time of registration) • Special requests during registration. We try to honor all special requests including previous team/coach or players wanting to play with a friend. • School/neighborhood location

Can my child play up?

• Not in pre-K through second grade • Play-ups are occasionally permitted (third grade and above) if a player displays exceptional skills or development • Skill evaluations are required for play-ups

How do I volunteer to coach?

• While registering your child there will be a prompt asking if you would like to coach, select 'Yes.' • Email youthathletics@CRgov.com with your child's name and any specific requests. • Attend the coaches meeting and fill out a background check while there.

What equipment is provided?

• League shirts for all sports, unless otherwise noted • Baseball/Softball provides a league shirt and hat, unless otherwise noted

How do I make a special request?

• Special requests should be submitted during registration. Toward the end of the registration process you will be prompted to submit any special requests you or your child may have. We do our best to honor all requests but requests are not guaranteed. • Requests are not taken via phone, email or at the front desk of either the Miller Activity Complex or Recreation Center.

REGISTRATION DEADLINES

Players must sign up within the designated registration period defined by the early bird and regular registration fees. Late fees are applicable when the space within the program allows.

PARENT AND COACH MEETINGS

Preseason meeting information and informational packets for parents and coaches will be sent out via email. During preseason meetings, our staff will discuss and answer questions about program philosophy, expectations and rosters. Information will be provided regarding practice and game scheduling. Our programs allow parents to participate by coaching, scorekeeping and line judging.

YOUTH COACH TRAINING

For all new and returning coaches, a training will be held to provide sport-specific practice plans and drills. Additionally, coaches can attend a hands-on training taught by athletic staff to further their ability to be a successful coach. Coaches are required to complete concussion training certification, coach agreements and agree to a background check.

Our goal is to provide young athletes with a fun organized sport league in an environment that allows them the opportunity to learn basic skills and rules to a variety of sports. BEGINNING CHEERLEADING/TUMBLING

Beginning cheerleading for boys and girls. Cheerleading is a great way to introduce teamwork, motion and cheer memorization, and age appropriate stunting. The program runs for 8 week sessions. With each session, cheerleaders will attend a weekly practice and cheering at a weekly game. A universal uniform will be purchased ($60 and this will be used for future sessions). One practice and game weekly, along with a halftime show in the last week of each session.

BASEBALL/BLASTBALL

Blastball is designed for young kids to be introduced to baseball/softball, while learning basic motor skills. Each session will teach kids how to hit a ball from a tee, run, throw and field the ball. Players must turn 3 years old prior to the start of the season.

PILLO HOCKEY

We are excited to announce a new hockey program for Castle Rock Youth Athletics! As an introduction to the sport of hockey, we will offer Pillo Hockey Leagues for young athletes currently entered into Kindergarten through 2nd grade. Official teams will consist of 9-10 players each with games having FIVE players a side and a goalie. Teams will be provided Pillo hockey sticks and Pillo hockey balls for each practice session and games. Depending on the amount of players registered per grade, teams will be constructed either according to their current grade level or a possible combination of K–1st graders or 1st and 2nd graders. Kindergarten players will not be combined with 2nd grade players!

Castle Rock Tennis has built a tennis community that gives all players at any age and level an opportunity to enjoy learning tennis. With their highly trained and certified staff, there is no ceiling for players as they can meet all players at the level in which they need to be trained. Offering a variety of programs for all skill levels for ages five to adult. Programs include daytime and evening leagues, group and private lessons, tournaments, drop-in drills and more. Soccer Buddies is a child development soccer program for ages 15 months to 12 years. Soccer Buddies runs instructional soccer classes and goes beyond just teaching skills—coaches use soccer as a tool to instill confidence, perseverance and teamwork—values that will help your child thrive in any situation. Each class is age appropriate and provides fun learning opportunities. Our high-energy coaches take a creative and FUN approach to coaching that will have a positive impact on your child both on and off the field, enhancing the child’s overall growth and well-being. CASTLE ROCK RAPIDS: YOUTH SOCCER

Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club (CRYSC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit youth soccer organization located in Castle Rock. Rapids Youth Soccer is Colorado’s premier youth soccer experience and the only club in Colorado to offer opportunities for 3-year-olds to professionals, from first time beginners to seasoned soccer players. CRYSC offers youth soccer programs to over a thousand children every season in and around Castle Rock.

These programs offer players ages 3–18 the opportunity to play with other children of similar ability from local neighborhoods in the Castle Rock area.

SOCCER CAMPS

Players of all ages and ability levels have access to a multitude of soccer camp options locally in Castle Rock, throughout the year. Youth soccer camp offerings include specialized camps for beginner and advanced players. Stay close to home and enroll your player in soccer for the first time or give them the extra attention they desire to continue to improve and develop their skills.

SOCCER START (SPRING)

Join us for a soccer adventure with Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer’s toddler and preschool soccer program, Soccer Start! Players born in 2018 or 2019 learn the basics of soccer in a team environment full of imaginative games and activities. Soccer Start is one day per week for a 6 week season from late March–mid May. T-shirt included in registration fee. You get to pick the day/time/ location that works best for your family.

The Colorado Rapids Youth 6U–18U soccer program is designed for players to experience being part of a team, develop soccer skills and kindle a love of the game. All ability levels welcome! Players will be placed on gender specific and ability appropriate teams with a volunteer coach based on their birth year. Uniform purchase required.

Practice details:

Practice days, times and Castle Rock park locations are selected by the parent volunteer coach. Castle Rock fields include Bison Park, Douglas County Fairgrounds, Founders Park and Paintbrush Park.

Game details:

REGISTERING FOR ADULT LEAGUES

Registering for Adult Leagues and Team Fees - All adult league teams should register through CRgov.com/Registration. Once registered and schedules are released, teams can find their schedule at teamsideline.com/castlerock and clicking on the Schedules/Standings tab. Participants must be 18 years old at the time of playing and may be required to show ID at the game site. Teams and players may only play at one level of competition in any given sport to help maintain balance among teams and ensure programs remain fun and competitive for everyone. The entire team fee is due at the time of registration. If you are looking for a team, you can fill out our Free Agent Sign-up and we will forward your information on to team captains. Registration is available Sept. 5–Oct. 31 for the Winter I season which runs November through December and registration opens Nov. 1 for the Winter II season which runs from January through March.
