with Ray Jones spring with snow and SEND THOSE PHOTOS TO temperatures below freezing numberonecoach@hotmail.com in West Tennessee but that is or 731-694-8614. exactly what time it is. In the fall, animals instinctively start preparing for the long winter months and we must do the same thing in winter to get ready for spring. Sure lots of cold weather is still to come but when it’s gone you can be ahead of the game with some spring planning. If you’ve been in Wal-Mart lately, you see that spring seeds and gardening supplies are already on the shelves. That means it is time for the early bird to catch the worm. Seeds can be started indoors and by spring you will have the jump on expensive plants that will be ready for planting at a very low cost. If you wait until spring to make your purchase prepare to pay much more for them. The same plants you pay $20.00 for in spring can be started from seeds for 20 cents. A little time spent in winter getting seeds started will put you in good position to have flowers and garden plants ready to go when the warm weather arrives and you will be glad you did it. You and the kids can shake off the winter blues by getting out of the house and heading to you favorite garden store in the Great Outdoors of West Tennessee.

District Attorney:

“JACKSON CITY COURT WARRANTS MAY NOT BE VALID” The District Attorney’s Office has a new discovery issue regarding some warrants processed through Jackson City Court. Allegidly, some may not have been properly District Attorney Jody Pickens issued. According to District Attorney Jody Pickens, “a court officer indicated to me that for some time he had not sworn or been under oath when the warrants were issued by Jackson City Court.” Pickens said the discovery was made January 4 when a felony drug case was dismissed after a judge determined a warrant was not issued properly. According to Pickens, “the law requires before an arrest warrant is issued that the affiant be placed under oath before being issued by the clerk. From a legal perspective, warrants not administered under oak could be voided.” “These type cases can range anywhere from first degree murder to public intoxication,” Pickens added. Pickens said he has contacted over 50 defense attorneys who have done work in Jackson City Court and making them aware of this issue and they can take any actions they deem appropriate in regards to their clients. “We are open and transparent about this and wanted to give attorneys information so they can move forward for their clients if need be,” said Pickens. “The scope of this problem is significant and we are trying to get our hands around it and for pending cases warrants may be reissued after being sworn properly.” City Court Clerk Darryl Hubbard said he was “not available for comment at this time.” DA Pickens also emphasized this issue does not appear to have originated with the district attorneys office, the Jackson Police Department or City Court Judge Blake Anderson.
