"NICKNAMES"
West Tennessee OUTDOORS
Nicknames are special and most people earn them based on their way of life. Many of my hunting buddies have with Ray Jones nicknames and usually there is SEND THOSE PHOTOS TO numberonecoach@hotmail.com a† story tied to them. or 731-694-8614. Jim Douglas is called "The Stanton Connection" because of his relationship to the community and spent a lot of time in the outdoors of that area. Lilliard Davis often comes to our area to hunt swampers but brings the nickname of "The Barbecue Man" because of his Real Deal restaurant in Nashville. Bernard Watkins loves Westerns and was called "Gunsmoke" until he had a fantastic day shooting his 20 gauge Browning and he changed to "The Rifleman". Nobody knows why Eddie Wise is called "Bo Man" but all outdoorsmen in West Tennessee knows about his reputation as being the best to ever hunt and fish the Hatchie Wildlife Refuge. I think one on the funniest names is a friend in Mississippi who calls himself "Crappie 911" because he says crappie go into a panic when ever they find out he is on the lake. Wayne Hill calls himself "Thunder" because he thinks he is second only to Lighting. Although they call me "Coach" I'm referred to in the woods as the "Long Ranger" because I'm a 6 foot 6 inch tall outdoorsman. Of all the nicknames that people have none stand out more than the real name of Kobe Bryant "Kobe". Rest in Peace Kobe. His real name was good enough.

“Madison County does not need new buildings or new taxes.” A wheel tax is not necessary to fund Madison County. A property tax is not needed to fund Madison County. No other tax is needed to fund Madison County. There are several county commissioners pushing to build 3 new schools. The schools are Madison Magnet, Pope and JCM. The Vision 20/20 plan that our school board presented in 2015 closed 5 schools. The reason for closing these schools was we did not need them. The school board said we were using only 62% of our classrooms. Closing these schools would save over 4 million dollars. Our school system has fewer K-12 students now than in 2015. Madison County does not need new buildings or new taxes. Some commissioners are wanting to use Public Private Partnership Plan to build new schools. If the county and city do this, we would need over 35 million dollars. The Public Private Plan would allow us to borrow this money, pay interest for the next 7 years. In 2027 we would be responsible for financing the 35 million plus interest. Would anyone use their own money to buy something and wait 7 years to start paying for it? Why would we take taxpayer money and do this? Would you buy a car today and wait till 2027 to start paying for it? If Madison County cannot afford to finance and pay for these buildings today, we do not need them. We do not need to tie Madison County down for the next 7 years with this obligation. Jackson City Court Clerk Daryl Hubbard is poised to move operations into the new location. - CSENews
NEW JACKSON CITY COURT SET TO BE COMPLETED MARCH Jackson City Court Clerk Daryl Hubbard said he’s anticipating their new facility will be completed in March and ready to start making the move from East Lafayette location to their new City Court building located at the corner of South Royal Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The Jackson City Council had originality approved $2.6 million dollars to consolidate both the City Court and the Drug recovery Court operations into one location. The city council approved the low bid for a 13,000 square foot building. Hubbard said “this new facility will be more conducive to the operations of City Court.” Former Mayor Jerry Gist has originality said “by the time the City calculated the cost paid on the City Court building and on the Drug Court, that would be almost enough to make payments on the loan,” said Gist By City Court relocating will open up much needed retail space for other business in the downtown business area. “The new City Court facility will solve many of the issues the current deals with, mostly space and parking,” added Hubbard. Only 39 students are in the Jackson-Madison County School System’s Local Options and Opportunities Program. But only a few days into the program, Talley lost her ride. “Something was wrong with my momís truck, and it hasn’t gotten fixed yet,” she said. Taliyah Talley Instead of losing her spot in the program and having to come back to school for third and fourth period, Taliyah did what any high school student would do. She picked up her phone. “My parents figured out I should just take Uber to work from school. So that’s what I was doing for about two weeks,” Talley said. She would order the Uber while in her second period class, and they would pick her up right at 11 a.m. to get her across town by 11:30 a.m. “It was kind of expensive because it cost over $100 a week,” Talley said. She kept it a secret, until someone ratted her out. “My mom told them, so that’s how they found out,” Talley said. But this innovative student now has a ride to work every day, and it wonít take away from her well-earned paycheck. “We have told everyone, if they don’t have a ride, we’ll provide transportation. ‘LOOP’ Students Learn and Earn Well, we dropped the These 7 #LOOP students working at ball and thought she had Stanley Black & Decker show off their first a ride, thought it was hard-earned paychecks of 2020!! #JMCSS#workbasedlearning#OptionsAndOpportunities worked out,” Randy #LearningAndEarning Pearson, career readiness coach for JMCSS, said. “Mrs. Smith called me, then I called Dr. Myracle. We got it all worked out. So now she has a ride every day.” There are currently six industry partners involved with LOOP. Talley says when she graduates this year, she plans to apply to the University of Tennessee at Martin to major in Biology.
