5 REASONS WHY ALL BLACK MEN SHOULD VOTE

(ThyBlackMan.com) Staff Writer; Greg Poole No single group of voters has been more actively suppressed than the black male voter. America has a long history of silencing black people by eliminating any and all ability to exercise basic fundamental rights. The bodies of black men were violated and mutilated before being put to death for daring to demand equality, demanding representation. Now, in the modern day, the black male vote is systematically removed by criminalization, diluted civics education and the most powerful tool of all, propaganda that the black male vote doesn’t matter. That it won’t make a difference. Nothing can be further from the truth. Believe that billions are poured into 10/02/2018 systems to keep you believing that your vote does not matter and millions more are poured into making it difficult to CAMERON DELORIN FAROUGH W/M/ vote if you should decide to go in on election day. Gayle Tacker-Gilbert inspires and loves “Downtown Jackson” Gayle Tacker-Gilbert serves as the Coordinator of the City of Jackson Engineering Department at City Hall and is one of Downtown Jackson’s biggest fans and promoters. Gayle said “I learned to appreciate the old and historic places as a child because those things were interesting to my parents, it was only natural I sought employment in downtown Jackson because of the familiarity of home.” The highlights of her life include several impressive numbers, 31 years of employment with the City of Jackson, 29 year cancer survivor, mother of 3 sons, and grandmother to 6 grandchildren.Ê Both Gayle and her husband, Ricky, were born and raised in Jackson.Ê She grew up in a time where parents often felt safe enough to allow their children to explore the city without adult supervision.Ê According to Gayle; ”every day you could hear the screeching of bicycle tires as kids burned rubber on the city streets.Ê Living in a place like Jackson where there was a sense of security gave me the freedom to be independent and seek out my own adventure.” Her Christian faith and her desire to “pay it forward” has led Gayle to volunteer through different programs that are close to her heart.Ê She also spends a lot of time downtown outside of her work duties.Ê She says “what I enjoy most about downtown Jackson is it feels just like having another big happy family.Ê I can walk into a restaurant and the waitress knows my order or sit on a bench in front of the courthouse or city hall and talk with friends I have made over the years or when I enter the downtown banks when my lunch funds are getting low, they give me the money without any hassle, now that’s family,” said Gayle.Ê“ I love the downtown entertainment, shopping and dining.Ê Her two rescue puppies, Gizmo and Pup Pup, love the dog park.Ê After her work, Gayle says she is blessed to work with a team of highly qualified co-workers with our main responsibility being to render all services with a sincere. At your service” approach attitude and make our city a safer place to live and raise a family.” Ê I have known Gayle over 30 years and have always enjoyed her friendship, dedication to service and love for people”, she is truly one of Downtown Jackson’s Goodwill Ambassadors and has grown a love and respect from almost everyone she meets and helps, Gayle makes living and working in “downtown Jackson” fun interesting and rewarding, I’m honored to call her friend” said Downtown Ricky Brown.
