October 16, 2017- HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. — AÊformer Haywood County deputy is no longer on the job after authorities confirm they arrested him and charged him with domestic assault. This isn’t the first time former sheriff’s deputy Adrian Perkins (right) has been in this type of situation. According to Brownsville’s mayor, just last year he was fired from the Brownsville Police Department for the exact same charge.

Washington High School was indicted on a sexual battery charge, WREG has obtained transcripts of interviews two students gave to investigators. In the interview, an 18-year-old student claims Reginald Huley, 34, touched her backside twice — once as she was leaving the lunch line at the high school and another time at the Boys and Girls’ Club across the street. The misconduct allegedly took place in February, but only came to light in March when the girl’s parents went to school 9 administrators. It was at the Boys and Girls’ Club that the girl claims Huley asked several students for their phone numbers so he could start a senior chat group.

Father wanted for shooting daughter’s boyfriend in theÊgroin OCTOBER 17, 2017, BY TRIBUNE MEDIA WIRE WEST MAHANOY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A Pennsylvania father is accused of shooting his daughter’s boyfriend in the groin. Police said Donald Jenkins, 40, of Shenandoah shot his daughter’s boyfriend when he found the two of them at a hotel near Frackville Sunday afternoon. Housekeeper Lisa MoweryÊwas cleaning the room next door when she heard that gunshot. State police said Jenkins fired that shot, hitting his 20-year-old daughter’s boyfriend in the groin. Investigators said he was upset his daughter was dating her boyfriend. Mowery said she gave the victim towels to help stop the bleeding. “I was scared, you know, I was scared to death,” Mowery told WNEP. “I just stayed in the room because I didn’t know if he was going to shoot us.” The crime also shocked community members. They describe the area as quiet. “If anything happens, they keep it quiet,” Mike McGlade of Frackville said. The victim is in the hospital recovering as police search for Jenkins. He’s facing a number of charges, including attempted homicide and aggravated assault.
Memphis Woman Indicted, Arrested for Aggravated AssaultÊ MEMPHIS – An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the arrest of Crystal Butler of Memphis, TN. At the request of 30th District Attorney General Amy Weirich, TBI Agents began an investigation into an August 21st incident involving Crystal Butler, DOB 3/21/1986, of Memphis, TN. The investigation resulted in a Grand Jury indictment on two (2) counts of Aggravated Assault and one (1) count of False Reporting. On October 13th, Butler was arrested for on these charges. Butler was booked into Shelby County Corrections Center on a $20,000 bond.

Mom charged - CONT’D FROM PAGE 1 Officers said Paulus drove her 15-year-old, another 17-year-old, and a group of adults to a house on Briafcliff Drive last Wednesday. “The group, including Paulus and her 15-year-old and the 17-year-old, entered the residence without permission,” Jackson City Court Judge Blake Anderson read from an affidavit. Officers said Paulus stood by as the group, including the two teens, assaulted two people inside the house. Investigators said one of the victims was hit with a board and ceramic plates, plus kicked and stomped. According to an affidavit, after the alleged attack, the group piled back into the suspect’s truck, took off and went back to her house. Police said both victims went to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Officers said they were treated and released. Jackson police said they also arrested the two juveniles for aggravated burglary and aggravated assault. Officers said they’ve already had a detention hearing before Madison County Juvenile Court Judge Christy Little. Police said their hearing dates have not been set. Paulus is being held at the Madison County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bond. Jackson police said the case is still under investigation and they are still trying to identify other participants.
HAYWOOD CO. DEPUTY FIRED - CONT’D FROM PAGE 1 “He is supposed to protect the citizens of Haywood County and he can’t even protect the people in his household,” a family member of the victim said. According to Brownsville police, Perkins was picked up on a domestic assault charge that took place at New Revelation Missionary Baptist Church in Brownsville. OfficersÊarrested Perkins late Friday night after reviewing video from a surveillance camera right outside the church. According to Brownsville police, this is the second documented offense against the former deputy. “Officer Perkins was a former Brownsville police department officer,” Mayor Bill Rawls said. “He was terminated Sept. 27, 2016, for a domestic violence charge.” Mayor Rawls said shortly after Perkins was fired last year, he filed a grievance lawsuit against the city. Because of that pending case, city officials say they can’t comment on what it entails but say they have zero tolerance for violence. “It’s just not acceptable in our community,”ÊMayor Rawls said. “We’re all human beings, we all deserve to be treated with respect, whether we’re in our home or in the streets or in the police department or in the police car or wherever you are.” According to court documents, Perkins pleaded guilty Monday morning to the charge of domestic assault. He served two days in jail and must also complete one year of supervised probation. A family member related to the victim, who wants to remain anonymous, says that’s not enough. “He needs to be in jail for a long period of time, not probation, because he do not need to be in law enforcement at all, no kind of way.”

2 JUVENILES TO BE TRIED AS ADULTS IN DEADLY MILAN SHOOTING October 13, 2017 - WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News MILAN, Tenn. —ÊTwo juveniles charged in a September double homicide in Milan made their first court appearance Friday. The two suspects, whose names have not been released, are charged in the shooting deaths of 20-year-oldÊ Deairrious Young and 19-year-old Troy “Tuman” Whitmore. During a transfer hearing in juvenile court, a judge heard testimony from several witnesses before making a decision that they will be tried as adults. “The judge found that there was enough probable cause to both juveniles be transferred and charged in Gibson County Circuit Court,” said Lt. Jason Williams with the Milan Police Department. Detectives say the next step is for the case to go before the grand jury.
2 arrested in shutdown of Humboldt drug house October 13, 2017 - HUMBOLDT, Tenn. —ÊTwo men are facing various charges after agents with the 28th Judicial Drug Task Force make a drug bust in Humboldt. A two-month investigation led to a search warrant being served at a home in the 2400 block of Mape Street. Agents say they seized various drugs including more than 15 pounds of vacuum-sealed, high-grade marijuana, the THC drug “Shatter,” suspected LSD,Ê1 gram of ice methamphetamine, two vials of steroids, amphetamine pills, a small amount of THC “dabs” and a loaded .40caliber handgun. Chad Hearn, 43, is facing multiple drug charges and being a felon in possession of a handgun and possession of a handgun during the commission of a dangerous felony. He is being held at the Gibson County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond. Clint Lee, 43, of Jackson was also arrested on drug charges and is currently free on $25,000 bond. In a release, Special Agent in Charge Johnie Carter said it’s always a good thing to walk out of a house where criminal acts have been occurring to the applause of surrounding neighbors.

She’s in good spirits and her health is definitely improving I can hear it in her voice. She wants to see me and I need to see her. I miss my friend. I’ve been joking with her throughout this ordeal about us writing songs. But after this it’s probably going to be a reality cause the name of the song I asked her to write is “It Ain’t No Fun Getting Old as Hell” I believe we can come up with the lyrics now.. She told police Huley showed her a picture of his private parts on one occasion and then made lewd overtures. Another student told investigators of an encounter she had with Huley in a hallway when she was in 10th grade. “We hugged each other and his lips hit my neck and I pushed him off me. I was like what’s wrong with you?” The student also said Huley would frequently address students as “baby mama” or “wife.” She said Huley once commented about an 11th grade student as she passed him in the hallway, “How could I forget that [expletive]?” Huley Students clearly didn’t forget Huley, who they mainly knew by his nickname: “Boochie.” The first girl bluntly told investigators, “Mr. Huley has been trying to have sex with me.” She claims he offered to take her to Atlanta and invited her back to his apartment. The girl showed police a text in which Huley allegedly writes, “I’m dead serious you know I been feeling you, I just had to sit back and observe first.” In a separate interview with investigators, Huley explained the text by saying, “It’s just a slang how they talk … I feel ya it’s just like you cool like we cool and it’s, it’s nothing other than that.” During the interview, Huley denied almost all of the allegations except that he texted students. In addition to the students that spoke to investigators, last week multiple Booker T. Washington students past and present told WREG on condition of anonymity that Huley’s alleged behavior has been going on for years. Records show he worked at Booker T. Washington high school from August 2015 until March 2017, when he was forced to resign amidst the sexual misconduct allegations. The same day he resigned from the school, the Memphis Police Department relieved him of duty with pay. Huley is next due in court on Nov. 29.

Madison County receives 3.1 Million for Mental Health Facility in County JailÊ There are 1600 people incarcerated in Madison County yearly who don’t need to go to prison but simply need treatment for addiction and mental illness. According to State Commissioner of Mental Health Marie Williams, this treatment facility is somethings that’s needed because a lot of people don’t need to go to jail”. The commissioner was in Jackson Friday to present a check for 3.1 million dollars to help fund the new facility in the Madison County jail that will be used solely for the treatment of mental illness and addictions. The state funded grant was awarded to Madison County after Governor Bill Haslam announced he wanted to grant a total of 15 million to mental health work statewide.Ê ÊWe appreciate the work of each team member who helped put this together. “Ê Dr Vicki Lake with West Tennessee Healthcare for writing the grant and whipping the rest of the team into shape” said Madison County Sheriff John Mehr” The facility is expected to break ground in early 2018 and will be a part of the new Madison. County Jail, said Mehr”. Pathways will have staff permanently placed at the new facility while other State Mental Health Commissioner Marie Williams organizations such as Aspell Recovery center will have people helping out on a part time basis.Ê This is a at news conference Friday. The Tigers fall to 4-3 (1-3 OVC) while the Governors improve to 4-3 (3-1 OVC). TSU overcame a 14-3 second-half deficit, taking a 17-14 lead on a 66-yard DeVon Johnson touchdown catch with 10:18 left in the fourth. The Governors responded with a touchdown run with 1:26 left for a 21-17 lead and were able to hold the Tigers off the scoreboard on their final drive. UT MARTIN FOOTBALL LOOKS TO GET BACK ON TRACK WITH MATCHUP AT EASTERN KENTUCKY October 16, 2017 - The University of Tennessee at Martin football team will leave the state of Tennessee for the first time in well over a month with a road matchup at Ohio Valley Conference foe Eastern Kentucky on Saturday, Oct. 21. Kickoff from Roy Kidd Stadium is scheduled to get underway at 2 p.m. CST. This game serves as a matchup of two of the best OVC programs in recent history. Since 2008, Eastern Kentucky (60) and UT Martin (58) rank No. 2 and No. 4, respectively, in league victories. These two programs have combined for nine top-two OVC finishes during that span. UT Martin has finished at least 5-3 in the league standings since 2012 while Eastern Kentucky has a vast history which includes a pair of national championships and 21 conference titles. The Skyhawks (3-3, 1-2 OVC) enter the contest looking to get back to the team’s winning ways after dropping consecutive contests for the first time this season prior to the break. Needing a jump start to an offense which has been held without a touchdown for nine consecutive quarters, UT Martin will turn to the OVC’s leader in rushing yards (629) and rushing yards per game (104.8) in junior tailback Ladarius Galloway. Galloway has tallied 114 carries for 629 yards and four touchdowns while ranking second in the conference in all-purpose yards with 125.3 per game.
By Josh Lemons 10/14/2017 - FORT VALLEY, GA. - For the third straight game, a slow first half starts is too much to overcome as the Lane College football team fell on the road to the Wildcats in Fort Valley, Ga. Saturday afternoon, 37-14. Running back Marcus Holliday rushed for 42 yards and two touchdowns, both coming in the second half to try to help mount a comeback. In the air, quarterback Marquez Pickett was a perfect 3-for-3 in limited action. Cornerback Kenneth Williams finished with 108 return yards on just two kickoff returns. Marcus Reynolds finished with 59 all purpose yards. The Dragons wrap up the final road game on the season next Saturday as they travel to Birmingham to take on the Golden Bears of Miles College. kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
