GREAT TIME TO SQUIRREL HUNT
West Tennessee OUTDOORS
After hunters have been locked out from the woods† with Ray Jones all summer long and hunting SEND THOSE PHOTOS TO season† finally opens in numberonecoach@hotmail.com August they get excited and or 731-694-8614. start hunting squirrels. But for most hunters after others seasons such as deer, coon, rabbit and they tend to ease away from squirrels for bigger game. According to information from expert West Tennessee Outdoorsman Eddie " Bo Man" Wise it is just the right time to hunt for squirrels. They are always a challenge but this time of year with leaves off trees there is† less need to concentrate on every step you take and more time on the hunt. Mosquitoes and other insects also make it uncomfortable during the opening fall season while the freezing temperatures get rid of them. Although the outdoors have many other opportunities don't forget that squirrel season goes on until February 28. Be sure to take the kid because mighty nimrods pride themselves on having got their starts hunting squirrels.

MANHUNT - BROWNSVILLE CONT’D FROM PAGE 1 Branch’s 8-year-old daughter was critically injured and has suffered paralysis in much of her body as well, according to the TBI. Another adult family member suffered injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, the TBI says. The shooting happened at a home in the 1000 block of Tammbell Street in Brownsville around 9:10 p.m. Sunday. Investigators say the suspect was seen on surveillance cameras leaving the scene. He is described as a black man, about 5-feet, Alexis Branch 3-inches tall to 6-feet tall, and around 200 to 220 pounds. Anyone with information is asked to call the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation at 1-800-TBI-FIND.
MAN CHARGED IN DEADLY HIT-AND-RUN CONT’D FROM PAGE 1 “The occupants of the Ford Explorer fled the scene prior to the officer’s arrival. At 8 a.m., one of the occupants, Brandan Baker, knocked on the door of 93 Pine Tree Drive asking for help,” Judge Anderson said. There is not much information on what happened between the time of the crash, and when Baker knocked on the neighbor’s door, except security video from Pine Tree Drive after the wreck. “Video shows Justin Graves making the statement, “I hit that pole," Judge Anderson said. Police say Baker also told investigators Graves was the driver. “Baker also stated during his interview that he and Justin Graves had been using methamphetamine shortly before the crash,” Judge Anderson said. Graves did not deny that claim in court. “Do you have an alcohol or drug problem?” Anderson asked Graves. “I was dealing with a drug problem, but I’ve never been into alcohol. I’ve never drank,” Graves said. Graves is being held without bond on other charges. His bond in this case was set at $100,000.

Councilman Dodd: “TRUST THE PROCESS” Significant development underway in District 2
SUBSTITUTE TRUSTEE'S NOTICE OF FORECLOSURE SALE
By Bill Marable - CSENews Affordable housing is an hot button issue that has taken center stage in the American vernacular as of late. More and more rural and urban areas across the nation are caught in the struggle of trying to provide afford living quarters for their citizens. Unfortunately, Jackson is no different that other areas of the nation with similar demographics. That is why District 2 City Councilman Johnny Dodd invited several entities to come to his district and take a look at what could be done to easy the housing shortage there. What has come of Dodd’s efforts is the “Southern Street Project.” “The Southern Street Project is three houses that are being build with grant funds,” said Tara Skinner of Century 21 Reality. She spearheaded the drive to get new and affordable homes in the area. “These are affordable homes through Southwest Community Resource Agency with the use of a Tennessee Housing Development Agency grant,” said Skinner. Skinner says she is proud to announce that out of the three homes that are scheduled for construction, two have been pre-purchased. “We want to take this opportunity to welcome those new homeowners to the community.” According to Skinner, the homes in the Southern Street Project will have two or three bedrooms and are 1,100 to 1,500 square feet in size. “The buyers had the opportunity to customize their homes to their liking,” added Skinner. “We are proud of the Southern Street Project,” said Sandra Carter of Century 21. “This is a big event for East Jackson. There hasn’t been any new construction in that area of the district for more that 30 years.” Carter joined Dodd, representatives from Southwest Human Resources Agency, MIG and Skinner, Wednesday afternoon for the ground breaking ceremony on the project. “We wanted to bring jobs and housing back to East Jackson and District 2,” said Dodd. “We have made some strides in the jobs arena and now it’s time to address the housing issue. This is only the beginning. There are also plans to develop 12 lots in the Clifford Manor area.” Carter says she commends Councilman Dodd on the work he is doing to help clean up the district and bring more affordable housing units to the area. “Councilman Dodd has stayed true to his word,” said Carter. “He was asked to clean up some dilapidated homes and vacant lots and he did it. We asked him to address the housing situation at the Belmont Apartment Complex and he eventually got the complex condemned.” Now Carter says she is happy with his work on the Southern Street Project. “Home ownership is an important component of community revitalization and bringing affordable housing to the area is a great step forward in us seeing a new and improved East Jackson,” added Carter. Skinner says she has been involved with the Southern Street Project for several years and is proud to see it come to fruition. “There a lot of things going on in East Jackson, but things like this take time,” she added. Dodd says he’s happy to see all of their efforts finally come together. “Everything is a process,” said Dodd. “Nothing happens overnight. Things like this take time and effort from everyone involved and that includes City officials, investors and the community.” For more information about the Southern Street Project or affordable housing contact Sandra Carter at 731-828-9535 or Tara Skinner at 731-394-1356.
