Man Charged with Attempted First Degree Murder

On March 9th, 2020 Deputies responded to a call at approximately 9:30 p.m. from a victim who had been shot at several times while he was on his way to work by the defendant.Ê The victim had received threats by text messages and threatening phone calls prior to this incident.ÊÊ When Deputies arrived on the scene they located several .223 shell casings on the roadway and upon further investigation found that one round had penetrated the victim’s vehicle and that the defendant had shot at the victim across four lanes of travel, with vehicles present and into the direction of several occupied residences. Charges against Jackson are Attempted First Degree Murder and Reckless Endangerment.Ê He is currently in custody at the CJC and his bond is set at $300,000.00.Ê

Police say one person died and four others were injured in the crash, involving two vehicles. It happened around 11:40 Monday night on North Highland Ave. near Otis St. The four injured victims were taken to the hospital. Jackson, Tennessee (March 20, 2020) – Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN and the JacksonMadison County Regional Health Department were notified of a confirmed case of novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID19) today. The patient lives in Chester County, but was treated in Madison County. The patient was immediately placed in isolation and appropriate protocols have been implemented in accordance with the Tennessee Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Out of respect for patient confidentiality, the hospital is unable to provide any additional details about the patient’s treatment. This case was not unexpected. Hospital staff members are well prepared for this situation and continue to operate under rigorous infection control procedures. Infection control teams at West Tennessee Healthcare hospitals are using a combination of best practices to help ensure that any virus does not spread to other patients, healthcare workers or the community. This includes having protective equipment and isolation areas to protect staff and others from airborne exposure to COVID-19. Further, our clinicians train year-round to respond to any potential outbreaks of infectious diseases.

WEST TENNESSEE HEALTHCARE AND HEALTH DEPARTMENT CONFIRM FIRST CASE OF COVID-19 AT JMCGH Jackson, Tennessee (March 20, 2020) – Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN and the Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department were notified of a confirmed case of novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) today. The patient lives in Chester County, but was treated in Madison County. The patient was By ‘Downtown’ Rickey Brown immediately placed in rickeylynnbrown@hotmail.com isolation and appropriate protocols have been implemented in accordance with the Tennessee Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Out of respect for patient confidentiality, the hospital is unable to provide any additional details about the patient’s treatment. This case was not unexpected. Hospital staff members are well prepared for this situation and continue to operate under rigorous infection control procedures. Infection control teams at West Tennessee Healthcare hospitals are using a combination of best practices to help ensure that any virus does not spread to other patients, healthcare workers or the community. This includes having protective equipment and isolation areas to protect staff and others from airborne exposure to COVID-19. Further, our clinicians train year-round to respond to any potential outbreaks of infectious diseases.

JACKSON MAYOR ISSUES A “STATE OF EMERGENCY” Jackson Mayor Scott Conger has issued a “State of Emergency” for businesses following a similar announcement by Governor Bill Lee. A news release from the Mayor’s Office statsanall retail stores must practice social distancing by keeping customers 6 feet apart through reasonable means and frequently cleaning commonly used surfaces.Ê The order states restaurants , cafeterias, dining establishments and food courts are allowed to stay at normal hours.Ê However they must only offer delivery or take out. The release also states the following must close while the order is in effect: Gyms and fitness - Entertainment centers including movie theaters, country clubs, performing arts centers, concerts, and nightclubs - Indoor portions of retail shopping malls - Cosmetology shops, barber shops, beauty salons, spas, massage parlors, and more. However the Release says restaurants inside malls with their own external entrances separate from the malls can remain open so long as access to the common area is closed. Employees, contractors vendors and suppliers can go in and out of their perspective establishments according to the release . The release says the order will not obstruct: The provision of health care or medical services to members of the public - Access to essential service for low income residents including food banks - Newspaper television radio or other media Child care facilities The order went into effect 12:01 am Monday March 23 and will be in effect until further notice according to the release.

JTA WILL CONTINUE TO RUN BUSES “ ON SCHEDULE” JTA will continue to run buses “ on schedule” despite the COVID-19 concerns.Ê Jackson Transir Authority officials are asking bus riders to sit outside under the covered awning at the transfer center instead of inside to avoid the spread of Coronavirus. JTA will still operate at the same hours from 6:00 am until 10:30 pm Monday thru Saturday. They currently have no limitations on how many people who can ride the bus. Leaders say they are enforcing social distancing and say it is safe to ride the bus. “And as of right now, nobody have asked us to cut anything, reduce anything, so we are going to continue to run service for the City of Jackson” said Travis Franklin, General Manager for JTA. Bus drivers will wear protective masks and gloves and there are no different rules for elderly passengers.
