Ohio father accused of hogtying daughter, dragging her across parking lot

HURON COUNTY, Ohio — An Ohio father is accused of using large zip ties to restrain his daughter and then drag her across a parking lot. John Hofacker, 39, was arrested after police found her still tied up in the parking lot, according to WJW. Witnesses called 911 after hearing the 13-year-old Summer screaming for help around Gamble Sandra Ware Santaigo Silva 5:20 pm Friday outside of the New London Lanes bowling alley, according to New London Police Lt. Joseph Hicks. When Lt. Hicks arrived he found the girl extremely upset with zip ties around both her wrists and ankles. They were Simeon Mann Travis Tipler connected together, similar to what’s commonly referred to as “hogtied.” The girl had scrapes on the left side of her face and her arm, and the back of her shirt was dirty with what appeared to be abrasion holes from the pavement and Moving Soon to 505 E Main gravel. Witnesses told police the father was dragging her across the parking lot.

LONG-TIME BrownBeat ‘Downtown’ Rickey Brown PRINCIPAL Byrickeylynnbrown@hotmail.com RETIRES; familiar face to take over leadership position JACKSON, Tenn. – After almost three decades of dedicated service to our students, Mr. James Shaw, (right) principal of Jackson Careers and Technology Elementary School, has announced he will retire at the end of the current school year.Ê Filling this very critical leadership role has been a top priority for Superintendent Eric Jones and the Jackson-Madison County School System leadership team. After an extensive search and discussions with JCT faculty and staff, Dr. Jones is pleased to announce the hiring of Mr. James Walker Jr.Ê Walker is familiar to many in the District having graduated from Jackson Central-Merry High School and served as assistant principal at South Side High School from 2012 to 2014.Ê He left the District to accept the principal position at Humboldt High School.

In his four years at Humboldt, Walker (left) has raised the graduation rate from 68 percent to 90 percent.Ê He also committed to raising the ACT score and implemented a mandatory ACT prep class for juniors.Ê Humboldt High has since seen the overall composite score for its students increase by a little more than a point.Ê He credits his priority on changing the culture within the school as a major contributor to progressing toward these goals. Walker has taught and coached at the high school and collegiate levels with experience in Tipton and Fayette Counties, as well as Lambuth University, Morehouse College, Lane College and Springhill College.Ê He received his undergraduate from Morehouse, Master’s in Education from Union University and his Education Specialist degree from FreedHardeman University. Along with graduating from JCM, the Jackson native attended Whitehall Elementary and Jackson Junior High, which sat on the same property as the current JCT.Ê “Jackson is my community.Ê It’s where my parents created so many opportunities for me,” said Walker.Ê “A lot of other people helped me too.Ê I feel like it’s my duty to help our youth like others helped me.” JCT is categorized as a priority school by the Tennessee Department of Education, placing it in the bottom 10 percent of schools in the state in regards to student performance.Ê Walker said he thrives in situations where change is wanted and looks forward to this opportunity.Ê “I am confident Mr. Walker is the right leader for JCT,” said Dr. Jones.Ê “He has a proven record of creating positive change and motivating students and his staff to succeed.” Walker will officially start July 1.Ê However, he will begin visits to JCT and recruiting the most qualified teachers right away.

‘It’s still going on:’ Mother responds after son makes emotional plea to endÊbullying MAY 8, 2018, MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An emotional plea to end bullying at Germantown Schools has caught the community’s attention. Jacob Vincent, 16, fought back tears as he told his story Monday night at a Germantown School Board meeting. He detailed years of being bullied from elementary school to Houston Middle School. He recalled times when he was hit, knocked unconscious and told to do the worst of all. “I was told to kill myself many times. I was told that it’d be better for everybody if I just left. I couldn’t take it anymore. I couldn’t take it to the administrative office because I knew nothing would happen if I did and it would just lead to more torment as it had in the past.” Jacob told his family he took the podium to be a voice for others. “Jacob said, ‘I want to speak,’” Jacob’s mom, Lori Vincent, said. “I didn’t want him too. I didn’t want him to relive all of that, not understanding that he’s reliving it all the time.” Vincent says she’s proud of her son for speaking about the years of torment.
