Moody

505 S. Bells St., Alamo, TN

Former teacher pleads guilty to felony charges msmith@stategazette.com On Tuesday morning in Circuit Court, a Dyersburg man pleaded guilty to two felony charges, while two other charges were dismissed. John Mark Moody, 27, was indicted by a Dyer County grand jury in April on four felony charges. The charges included tampering with evidence, coercion of a witness, solicitation of a minor, and solicitation of rape by an authority figure. Moody turned himself in to authorities after being indicted, and was released on a $20,000 bond shortly after surrendering. On Tuesday morning, in a plea agreement, Moody pleaded guilty to the charge of solicitation of aggravated statutory rape and conspiracy to file a false report, while the charges of tampering with evidence and solicitation of statutory rape by authority were dismissed. During the hearing, District Attorney Danny Goodman explained that Moody, a teacher at Dyersburg High School until an investigation was launched by the TBI, would be sentenced to an effective four-year sentence (two years on each count), with Moody required to spend one year at the Dyer County Jail, followed by three years of supervised probation. Moody will also be placed on the sex-offender registry for a period of 10 years, and a condition of the plea is that Moody will have to complete sexoffender treatment.

WHO HAVE WE ELECTED? by Commissioner Gary Deaton Who have we elected that believes on the timeless ideas that all men are created equal, and that they are endowed with Godgiven unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? Who have we elected that believes that government exists solely to secure those rights and that it’s power derived from the consent of the governed? “That would mean me and you.” Who have we elected that believes these principles are the cornerstone and foundation of freedom that is made possible the American dream? Who have we elected that will stop illegal immigration and secure our borders and enforce the laws of America? Who have we elected that will balance the federal budget and cut the size of government, free our children and grandchildren from the crushing national debt? Who have we elected that will give us health-care with a market-driven, patient centric reform? Who have we elected that will unleash the full potential of private enterprise by cutting regulations? Who have we elected that will honor and take care of our outstanding military forces and all of our veterans? Who have we elected that will defend our nation against the evils of radical Islamic terrorists? Who have we elected that believes in the power “we, the people “and will uphold the constitution of the United States of America? WHO HAVE WE ELECTED??? Could it be MARSHA BLACKBURN? But it must be PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP!
