MCDONALD’S MANAGER ATTACKED WITH STUN GUN, Pulled out of drive-thru window JULY 1, 2019, BYÊMIKE SURIANI - wreg.com HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. — A Haywood County woman is accused of using a stun gun on a McDonald’s manager and trying to drag him out of the restaurant’s drive-thru window. The attack on Sunday left the 19-year-old employee with both physical and emotional scars. “She grabs me by my hair, pulls me out of
the window,” Jacob Jordan said. “That’s when she has the taser, trying to go for my throat, punching me in my face, punching me in my eyes. Just beating me.” Cell phone video shows the assault Jordan experienced while working at the McDonald’s in Brownsville. Jordan, an overnight manager, said two customers were upset about how long it took to fill their order. Jordan said they wouldn’t stop blowing their car horn. “I said, ‘Hey, I’m the manager, and you’re disrespecting me and the customers behind you by laying on the horn. We can refuse to serve you because you’re being disruptive,’” Jordan said. Jordan said that’s when Marquenta Glidwell got out of the car and approached the drive-thru window. He said Glidwell hit him with her credit card and used a stun gun, leaving a nasty looking mark on his neck. “At first we thought it was just scratch marks from her fingers until you look at the video, and you can clearly see her trying to jam the taser into my throat,” Jordan said. He said the whole time, she was threatening to kill him. “Saying that because I voted for Trump I deserved this,” Jordan said. “I wasn’t even old enough to vote when he ran.” Jacob, who said he’s gay, was shocked to hear the woman call him several insulting things “Honestly, I believe she was just trying to hurt me emotionally and physically,” he said. “It was really hurtful.” Glidwell was arrested by Brownsville Police a short time later and charged with aggravated assault. Jacob’s mother would like to see more serious charges. “She needs to be charged with a hate crime because she hated my son for the color of his skin and his sexuality,” mother Jessica Garland said. “That’s hate, and that’s a hate crime to me.” Jacob said he’ll return to work at McDonald’s because he needs the job so he can go to college. But he knows working the drive-thru will never be quite the same again. Glidwell is in jail on a $10,000 bond. Her next court appearance is July 30.

$11 MILLION VERDICT REACHED BETWEEN HILL AND RICKY BOREN LAW FIRMS A Madison County Circuit Court jury returned a $11.87 million verdict in the nearly 3 year long lawsuit between former partners T. Robert Hill And Ricky Boren. Hill was ordered to pay $1.87 million in compensatory damages and $10 million in punitive damages. Boren and a former employee of the law firm Hill Boren PC, Jeffrey Boyd, sued Hill for fraudulent inducement, a situation in which one uses trickery or deceit to persuade the other party to act to their own advantage. Lead attorney Lewis Cobb said Hill lied to his business partners about a future agreement to sell them stock in the firm.Ê Five weeks before the transfer Hill tried to dissolve the firm which would have gained him $2 million more in future income. “This is the largest business litigation verdict between individuals outside of Memphis I’ve seen in west Tennessee,” said Cobb Boren and Boyd left the Hill Boren firm in December of 2016 to start their own firm.

I remember when we were trying to keep JCM open because our community had nothing and that high school was all that was left of a once vibrant community, some of us wanted to renovate JCM
and then in turn use it as a cornerstone of revitalization for the community. I was soooooo disappointed to be called to a meeting with about 1015 other people on Lane campus and after leaving that meeting most ppl realized why Lane an HBCU was not ATLEASTÊ publicly speaking out to help save an Historically Black High School and a #FEEDER SCHOOL for Lane College (Hampton wanted the building)
The CSENews especially since Dr. McClure had been sooo vocal about protecting the few remaining assets of East Jackson. That day I KNEW we had already lost, months before the last school board meeting. Lawd and Code Red I’ll leave that alone for the moment because it’s Sunday FYI I’m on Vacay and I got time today so don’t get saucy in the comments or I’ll exspo............

Councilman Brooks attends neighborhood meeting Jackson, TN – On Thursday, June 13, 2019, recently re-elected, Jackson City Councilman, Ernest Brooks II, District Three, attended the monthly Neighborhood Association Meeting for the Woodland Hills/Oak Hill Subdivisions located off of North Royal Street. The meeting, held at New St. Luke Baptist Church, also addressed concerns raised by many of the neighbors including crime, speeding, trash pickup, and code violations. “As opposed to addressing their concerns individually, I decided to invite the appropriate City of Jackson department head to answer their questions in person”, said Brooks.Ê Participating departments were Health and Sanitation, Code Enforcement, Councilman Brooks’ Office and Animal Control.Ê Chief Julian Wiser and Officers that patrol the neighborhood were on hand to answer questions about crime and crime prevention. President, Charlotte Price said, “I would like to thank Councilman Brooks for inviting representatives from the city to listen to our concerns and answer our questions.Ê It shows that he really cares about the neighborhoods in his district”. The Councilman also presented former President Ron Thomas with a plaque for Outstanding Community Service.

Notes from a second Roundtable Discussion: “Leaders Are Readers!”
The CSENews
Brown Beat By ‘Downtown’ Rickey Brown rickeylynnbrown@hotmail.com
By Don Polley Before I begin with the updates from our recent Roundtable discussions, I would like to point your attention to the picture that accompanies this article. We draw our inspiration from those in the community that benefit most from our efforts. The three young entrepreneurs were such an inspiration to me as they were very well set up and even had ice for their lemonade on a hot summer day! I complimented them for their efforts and told them it reminded me of when I was their age. When I paid for my lemonade, I gave them a five and they said they did not have any change. I told them if they could tell me what a gratuity was, I would be satisfied with our business exchange. They huddled up and one of them said, “a tip?” They smiled and then I asked them to pose for a picture so I could make them famous! Ê Folks this is why I do what I do and marvel that more youngsters don’t hustle up and earn some spending money. Experiential learning is how you build character and develop the “soft skills” so much in demand today! It would not surprise me to see these guys in city government one day. The other two young ladies pictured with Dr. Karessa Morrow actually attended our meeting and were very well mannered and attentive. They were happy to be included and enjoyed holding up the books! They say a picture paints a thousand words so don’t miss the message in these pics! Steve Beverly was kind enough to FB live some of our discussion and told us there was interest from city and county leaders, school board members and county commissioners. He has invited us to have our next Roundtable on the campus of Union University and get on Channel 39 for West TN Weekend. After the meeting we were on the Afternoon Show with Keith Sherley on 101.5 FM. Growth comes from recognition which leads to building trust to be courageous enough to have the conversation to initiate positive proactive change. Celebrate the gains but be proactive in embracing future challenges. I enjoyed a comment made by Sabrina Anderson of Boys and Girls Clubs. “Stop doing what you have always done.” Stay tuned for more details.
