Daryl Hubbard re-elected Jackson City Court Clerk and election round up 12 Daryl Hubbard was re-elected as the Jackson City Court Clerk after holding off a challenge from Monique Merriweather.Ê Hubbard gained a sizable lead in early voting and held on as all 33 precincts of the city and Madison County were reported throughout the election night.Ê MadisonÊ County Mayor Jimmy Harris (right) was reelected byÊ defeatingÊ Harrell Carter for the position by a vote of 11,414 for Harris and 5,825 for Harrell Carter.

Man faces charges after Taser arrest by Jackson police August 3, 2018ÊÊWBBJ 7 Eyewitness News Staff CHRISTOPHER JACKSON, Tenn. — A man who was arrested Thursday afternoon in north Jackson after being apprehended with a Taser is now facing charges. Earl Taylor was arrested last Thursday afternoon after a traffic stop on the Highway 45 Bypass. The traffic stop stemmed from an earlier report of a domestic disturbance on Pleasant Plains Road. During the traffic stop, police say Taylor got out of his car and refused orders to get on the ground. Taylor kept going back and forth toward the car and reached into his pockets several times, according to court documents. N M A R O Councilman Ernest Brooks Taylor also told police he was not going to jail and that they would have to kill him or he was first black state executive would walk into traffic, according to an affidavit. MULTI-AGENCY DRUG INVESTIGATION IN WEST TENNESSEE NETS FOUR ARRESTS 505 S. Bells St., Alamo, TN Corona

MEMPHIS – A joint two-day investigation by Special Agents with the Drug Investigation Division of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Weakley County Sheriff’s Department, Dyer County Sheriff’s Department, and 27th Judicial Drug Task Force has resulted in the arrest of four men. Based on information obtained from prior drug investigations, Agents developed additional intelligence that identified several individuals who were known by law enforcement to sell drugs in the Dyersburg area.Ê Four of those individuals were located and arrested Wednesday and Thursday. The men, from left to right, were booked into the Dyer County Jail: Daniel Corona (DOB 01/18/1989), Union City, TN:␣ One count Possession with Intent Schedule 2 (Ice methamphetamine), one count Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Dangerous Felony Nelson Urias (DOB 11/24/1990), Union City, TN: One count Possession with Intent Schedule 2 (Ice methamphetamine) DeAndrea Perry (DOB 11/01/19993), Missouri: One count Possession with Intent Schedule 2 (Ice methamphetamine) Quantrez Pitts (DOB 01/12/1995), Missouri: One count Possession with Intent Schedule 2 (Ice methamphetamine) Agents seized various amounts of drugs, including methamphetamine, heroin and suboxone. The one shot Grandma Jean fired didn’t miss, striking the man in the chest. Police say the man had to have surgery, but he is expected to be OK. “I don’t get in nobody’s business. Commission district 4, position 2; incumnbent Billy Spain will continue to serve four more years after winning reelection on Thursday, he finished with 1,288 votes to James Watford finished with 776 votes.Ê Commission district 5, postion 2, with Claudell Brown will begin his fifth decade on the County Commission after having won another re-election bid.Ê Brown had 740 votes to challenger Greg Hammond with 527 votes.Ê Commission district 7, position 1, Terry Spearman won the vote in another close race that was in question until the finalÊ precincts were totaled.Ê spearman picked up 609 votes to Gary Tippett had 562 votes.Ê Commission district 7, position 2, Aaron Billy Ellison unseated incumbent Larry Sipes.Ê Ellison had 663 votes to Sipes 519 votes.Ê School Board races; District 1, James Johnson will be a new member of the Jackson Madison County Board of Education after picking up 734 votes to Dr. James Baxter Christi Collins finished with 659.Ê School Board District 4, seat 1, Retired educator Dorothy Black will be the new school board member after she outlasted Dave Bault and Shawn Daly for her seat.Ê Black finished with 1,743 votes to Daly’s 1,309 and Bault’s 612.Ê School Board district 5, position 2, Shannon Stewart finished ahead of Kara Reeves with 2,032 to 1,744.Ê School Board District 6, position 2, Morris Merriweather was elected to the school board with 1,242 votes to Shelia Godwin’s 743 votes and Jamie Elliott finished third with 677 votes.Ê In the heated race for state representative for district 73, Dr. James Baxter won the democrat nomination with 1,790 votes to 1,406 for T. Robert Hill.Ê On the republican nomination Chris Todd won over county commissioner Jay Bush with Todd receiving 5,098 votes with Bush getting 4,016 votes.Ê Baxter and Todd will meet in the general election in November to decide who will replace State Chris Todd Representative Jimmy Eldridge retiring from the legislature and starting his campaign for Mayor of the City of Jackson. Ê In the races for Governor of Tennessee, the GOP nominated outsider businessman Bill Lee, and the democrats elected former Nashville Mayor Karl Dean who will face each other in November.Ê In the United States Senate race, U. S. Congressman Marsha Blackburn won the republican nomination and former Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen will be the democrat nominee. Ê MadisonÊ County Mayor Jimmy Harris was re-elected byÊ defeatingÊ Harrell Carter for the position by a vote Karl Dean Bill Lee of 11,414 for Harris and 5,825 for Harrell Carter.
