HATCHIE WILDLIFE FISHING REPORT
Jackson Police Chief, Julian Wiser, promotes Investigator Cagle . On Monday, July 30th, Jackson Police Chief, Julian Wiser, promoted Investigator Frank Cagle to Sergeant. “Sergeant Cagle is a retired military man who works hard and takes great pride in his assigned cases” said Chief Wiser.
The Hatchie Wildlife Refuge is a jewel in the Great Out Doors of West Tennessee.Ê When July heat was on you could still find a cool fishing spot on the many oxbow lakes located within its boundaries. Because of the numerous cypress trees much of the lake will be covered with shade most times. Resident Hatchie Bottom expert “ Bo Man “ provides regular reports and I had the pleasure of tagging along with he and his buddy James Williams who fish the Hatchie weekly. We fished on Hart Lake #1 this past Saturday and even though it was a slow day by their standards many other fishermen would have considered it a great day. I caught a good number of blue gills using crickets, but James and Bo Man only used jigs. What was amazing to me was that even though they both used jigs James was catching blue gills and Bo was catching crappie. The Hwy 76 Hatchie bridge has been under construction for the last year so the fishing pressure has been light on these lakes and they should be just right for fall fishing as the bridge is scheduled to be completed in August opening the direct route to paradise in the Great Outdoors of West Tennessee. Take a kid over there so he can catch some good fish like James and Bo.Ê

MAN CHARGED IN ROBBERY OF MOTHER, 4-YEAR-OLD July 30, 2018ÊÊWBBJ 7 Eyewitness News Staff JACKSON, Tenn. — A man is now facing charges after allegedly robbing a woman walking home with her 4-year-old son last week near Lincoln Courts apartments. Antwan Howard, 21, is charged with aggravated robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Court documents say the woman was walking to Lincoln Courts with her child after making a purchase at Discount Tobacco. The woman told investigators the two men who were behind her in line at the store came up behind her as she walked across the field near Lincoln Courts and pointed a gun at her. Court documents say the men threatened to kill her and her son before taking her wallet, $60 in cash, and a cell phone. The woman later called Jackson police and said the men were in Lincoln Courts, according to court documents. Court documents say Howard was detained and admitted to investigators that he and his cousin committed the robbery. Howard remains in custody at the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex in lieu of $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to return to court Aug. 9. Witness:
Mother drove toward river before drowning with 2Êchildren
POSTED JULY 30, 2018, BYÊwreg.com CRITTENDEN COUNTY, Ark. — The Crittenden County coroner on Monday confirmed the names of a mother and two children who drowned when their Jeep Grand Cherokee drove into the water at the Mississippi River on Friday. Coroner William Wolfe said the victims were Aisha Fair, 26, and her children Charvon Lofton and Jattir Ragland. One child was 2 and the other 6. The bodies were recovered Friday afternoon near the the last pylon of the Hernando DeSoto Bridge, he said. According to the Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office, Fair was involved in an accident on Interstate 40 just west of the bridge at 8:30 a.m. Friday. Her car struck an 18-wheeler’s trailer, which caused her to leave the road. According to a witness, the wreck caused Fair’s vehicle to spin around, facing the interstate before it came to a stop. At that point, the witness said, she turned left and accelerated down the embankment, through a wire barricade and across a road and a soybean field, before launching across a bike trail into the river.

I, William A. Byrd, am asking you the people to allow me to serve our community once again. If given the chance as Constable you will get to know my name and face you won’t only see me when its time to serve court ordered documents but, I will patrol each and every street of our district around the clock from evening to early mornings looking out for criminal and suspicious activity so you can rest well knowing a dedicated officer is working to make the community a safer place. I will also volunteer in the schools of district four so the children can have an officer to help keep them safe from bullying and outside threats. And also, we as parents can work with a peace of mind knowing our children are safer. I will commit my security services to help at church services and events. So when going to the poles ask yourself, would you like a peace of mind knowing your streets, schools and community are safer? If yes, vote William A. Byrd a man of his word.

WEE Star “Brian Christopher Lawler” died Sunday !
BrownBeat By ‘Downtown’ Rickey Brown rickeylynnbrown@hotmail.com
According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Brian C Lawler, 46, had been held at the Hardeman County Jail on DUI related charges and was found Saturday evening hanging in his cell. “Corrections Officers administered CPR until paramedics arrived” the TBI said, in a statement “Lawler was transported to Refional One Medical Center in Memphis where he died.” Mark Davidson, the 25th district attorney, requested special agents with the TBI investigate and the investigation remains ongoing.” In a statement released Monday, Hardeman County Sheriff John Doolen says Lawler, a Hardeman County resident, was in custody and facing charges of third offense DUI, felony evading arrest, and driving on a revoked driver’s license. Because of Lawler’s notoriety, the statement says he was placed in a cell by himself, but was not on suicide watch because the department had no indication Lawler was suicidal.

In a hug and sign of solidarity last Thursday, the two democratic candidates made amends and are moving forward in this contest.Ê “We’re both democrats and we’re both children of GOD, and we need to be peaceful if we can be,” said James Baxter to Hill during the brief hug.Ê “You’re right, we are democrats and I’ll support you if you are the nominee of the party and win and I hope you will do the same for me if I do,” Hill said in response; to which Baxter agreed. The two had an altercation last week that started with a disagreement over sign placement when Hill said he asked Baxter not to place an election sign in front of his.Ê Baxter reportedly reacted in a blunt manner with language that sparked a reaction from Hill’s stepson.Ê Baxter then grabbed his hammer before Jackson Police were called to the scene.
