FATHERLESS DAUGHTERS NETWORK HELPING BLACK WOMEN AND OTHERS WORLDWIDE TO FIND HOPE, HELP, AND HEALING Nationwide (BlackNews.com) — The Fatherless Daughters Network is celebrating dads everywhere, especially since Father’s Day is during the month of June. On this occasion every year, children look for the perfect card and gift to give to that special man they call “father.” But there is another group of children who do not celebrate this day. Not because they don’t want to, but because they have not had a reason to. These are the millions of fatherless daughter women who are without their fathers. Everyone has a biological father, but when the term “fatherless” is used, it means that the father figure is just not present in the daughter’s life. He could be unavailable, unattached or absent due to separation, divorce, abandonment or even death. Perhaps he lacked the skills needed to bond with his daughter. Or just maybe he was not allowed to be there for his daughter by her mom or some other person. In some instances, the dad was physically present but was not emotionally attentive and caring towards his daughter. Whatever the reason, there are countless women out there who are feeling the negative effects of fatherlessness in their current lives. Studies have shown that females who had an unstable father figure are more Angela Patterson, founder of the Fatherless Daughters Network, liable to have unplanned pregnancy, low-self esteem, high school and college and her new book drop-out, poverty, divorce and sexually promiscuous behavior. Many women are living out the patterns of fatherlessness and don’t even recognize it. Because it’s a hidden, muted, unrecognizable pain that tends to show up in their relationships with love and money. In her work, Angela Patterson, founder of The Fatherless Daughters Network and author of I’m Not That Woman, found that many fatherless daughter women struggle in their relationship with love and their relationship with money. She comments, “Because how we do love is how we do money. The same emotional triggers that impact our relationship with love also impact our relationship with money. Love and money are both tied to our self value and self worth which can be a challenge for a woman who had a flawed father-daughter relationship.” She adds, “Females receive their identity from their paternal relationships and if that relationship is hindered or flawed in any way, the negative consequences in her life can be many. But I believe we can change this tragic story through the power of love, acceptance and forgiveness.” As founder of The Fatherless Daughters Network, a platform dedicated to elevating the awareness that fatherlessness has on a female’s life and providing resources to help decrease its long term impact, she is committed to the task of helping women heal and rewrite a new narrative for their lives. With her global community of Certified Fatherless Daughter Advocates we are dedicated to helping women and girls to redefine who they are beyond their fatherlessness, reclaim their value and worth by actualizing the power of self love to unleash their greatest potential to shine. Their goal and aim is never to criticize or ridicule fathers because they recognize they have their own stories. “If we spend our time blaming,” Angela says. “We create a new problem trying to solve the main problem.” For interviews, to book Angela to facilitate a workshop, host a film screening or obtain the upcoming book, I’m Not That Woman, contact Angela at www.fatherlessdaughters.net or info@fatherlessdaughters.net About Angela Carr PattersonAngela Carr Patterson is speaker, author, TV/Radio host, film producer, Global Life/Success Strategist, founder of The Fatherless Daughters Network and executive producer of The Making of a Fatherless Daughter Documentary film. FIRST TENNESSEE INVESTS $5 MILLION IN SMALL BUSINESS LENDING Loan program to assist minority and women-owned businesses MEMPHIS, Tenn. – First Tennessee Bank is investing $5 million to help launch the Memphis Small Business Opportunity Loan Fund, a $17.5 million lending program aimed at improving access to capital for minority- and women-owned businesses. The fund is a collaboration between nonprofit entrepreneurship hub Epicenter, Pathway Lending – a regional nonprofit community development finance institution (CDFI) – and other Memphis financial institutions. First Tennessee is part of the Memphis-based First Horizon National Corp. (NYSE:FHN) family of companies. “We are proud to support small business owners, who are the backbone of our economy,” said Bo Allen, First Tennessee’s West Tennessee president. “One way we’re doing that is by improving access to capital for women and minority business owners in Memphis. We believe that when our small businesses thrive, our communities prosper and grow.” The fund, administered by Pathway Lending, will be available to small business owners in the Memphis region who may not qualify for traditional bank business loans. Loans may range from $5,000 to $1,000,000 to support growth opportunities, and clients will have access to technical assistance from business advisors. “Epicenter is focused on adding and scaling resources for entrepreneurs in our community, especially as it relates to capital, and making it easier for local entrepreneurs to fund their businesses,” said Leslie Lynn Smith, Epicenter president and CEO. “This fund is a flexible and affordable way to support entrepreneurs and business owners – particularly in communities of color – with capital at a critical time in their growth.” The fund aligns with First Tennessee’s recently announced $3.95 billion community benefit plan to increase access to financial resources within low- to moderate-income (LMI) communities. As part of the plan, First Tennessee is formalizing referral relationships to CDFIs for businesses denied a loan by the bank or not yet ready for traditional bank financing. “While we have an existing portfolio of clients in Memphis, we see tremendous opportunity in this new partnership with Epicenter to reach more entrepreneurs in this region, and provide a stronger set of tools to help unlock their growth potential,” said Travis Hughes, VP of Lending and Clients Relations in West Tennessee. “We’re dedicated to growing the economy and building wealth in underserved communities, and we’re thrilled to bring that dedication to Memphis.” Tickets - 314 E Main snacks provided. 6/18 – 6/22 – DSCC’s 5/16 - 9/20/18 - “I Love St. Jackson, TN 38301, Tues.
