WINTER CRAPPI

West Tennessee OUTDOORS

Although crappie are known to bite year round, these mild days make for great opportunities to cash in with Ray Jones on some slabs. SEND THOSE PHOTOS TO numberonecoach@hotmail.com While it is true that fish or 731-694-8614. feed in fall to fill reserves for winter, crappie tend to continue their feeding all through the winter. It is an excellent time to catch a big fish that happen to be cruising around with ambush on his mind when the right prey come by. Most fishermen agree that winter fishing is productive but just requires a little more patience and slower retrieve.Ê On really cold days fish may stay near their holding areas but with some of these warm days we are having in the Great Outdoors Of West Tennessee one has to consider the possibilities a nice lake holds. Get your poles and the kids and head to a lake near you for a great day of fishing. Photo: Kaylan Marable shows off his catch. He is the grandson of CrimeSEEN publisher, Bill Marable.

Dr. Robin GadsdenDupree will be the guest speaker during DSCC’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Community Luncheon Jan. 18.

FACEBOOK SALE TURNS DEADLY AFTER ASSUMED BUYER SPOTS GUN INÊCAR JANUARY 9, 2019, BYÊERYN TAYLOR Montavious Farmer MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One man is dead and another behind bars after what started off as a Facebook sale took a dramatic turn. According to police, they responded to the 6200 block of Arborwoods Drive inside the Arbor Apartments complex on January 5 after receiving a shots fired call. When they arrived they found Matthew Taylor lying unresponsive in the front seat of a red Infinite G35. He had been shot multiple times and died on the scene. A woman told officers she had been sitting inside the car with Taylor when he was shot and killed. According to the witness, Taylor had posted on Facebook that he was selling a pair of shoes and was contacted by a man known as Tay. Taylor and the witness met Tay in the apartment complex, and as Taylor was showing the man the shoes the other man pulled out a gun. He told Taylor to hand him the gun that was stashed in the car, but before he could even reach for it, Tay started shooting, the woman said. The man then reached in, grabbed the gun and took off through the complex. Police later identified the suspect at Montavious Farmer. Farmer was charged with first-degree murder, especially aggravated robbery and reckless endangerment.

Tennessee Governor grants clemency for woman convicted of murdering man who bought her for sex when she was 16 ByÊTheGrioÊ- January 7, 2019 GovernorÊBill HaslamÊhas granted executive clemency toÊCyntoia Brown (right)Êby commuting her life sentence. The governor’s office announced the decision Monday morning sharing that she will be released to parole supervision on August 7, 2019, according toÊNashville 5. By that time she will have served 15 years in prison. “This decision comes after careful consideration of what is a tragic and complex case,” Haslam said. “Cyntoia Brown committed, by her own admission, a horrific crime at the age of 16. Yet, imposing a life sentence on a juvenile that would require her to serve at least 51 years before even being eligible for parole consideration is too harsh, especially in light of the extraordinary steps Ms. Brown has taken to rebuild her life. Transformation should be accompanied by hope. So, I am commuting Ms. Brown’s sentence, subject to certain conditions.” Haslam has a week and a half left in his term.

January 6, 2019 - byÊKyle Eustice The finale of Lifetime’s six-part documentary,Surviving R. Kelly,Êaired on Saturday (January 5). For three nights, it explored disturbing details of R. Kelly’s sordid past andÊsparked outrageÊacross social media. Prior to Thursday’s (January 3) premiere, Kelly’s lawyer Brian Nix reportedlyÊthreatened to suethe television network if the show aired. Now that it has, sources close to Kelly say the R&B legend is getting ready to “sue everybody who had anything do with this,” according toÊTMZ.Ê Despite not watching any of it, Kelly is allegedly “disgusted” by the series and believes those who participated in it have a “vendetta” against him. KellyÊalso claims he didn’t know half the people who were interviewed for the show and insists the other half hates him for personal and professional reasons. He says there were various people who wanted to defend him, but the producers wouldn’t allow it. Topics discussed in the docu-series included Kelly’s alleged inappropriate sexual relationship with Aaliyah. Former backup singer Jovante Cunningham said she caught the coupleÊhaving sexÊon a tour bus while on the road. Aaliyah’s mother, Diane Haughton,Êdenies anythingÊlike that ever occurred. Kelly and the late singer were married August 1994. Shortly after the hotel room ceremony, Aaliyah’s parents had the marriage annulled. Although the Cook County Clerk Office couldn’t provide a digital copy of the marriage certificate,ÊDeputy Communications Director James Scalzitti provided the details to HipHopDX. “Our office policy is that we cannot share images of marriage certificates until 50 years from the date of the marriage have passed,” Scalzitti wrote in an email. “However, we can confirm the information. “According to the marriage record, however: Robert S Kelly of Chicago DOB 1/ 8/1967 and Aaliyah D Haughton of Chicago DOB 1/16/1976 got their marriage license on 8/30/1994 and were married on 8/31/1994 in Rosemont, IL. Officiant was Elder Nathan J Edmond.” hiphopdx.com

Kelly,” said the Fulton County District Attorney reached out to Griggs a few days ago, after the show aired. Griggs said the Fulton County DA is conducting an investigation into Kelly.
