50.41445877562619, 4.4114686284530835 Reminisences of excavations comprehends a small photographic journal, revealing the former cokes factory in Charleroi. Since the site has been closed in the 1970’s the area was neglected turning it into an post-industrial apocalyptic wasteland. Barrels of ammonia, tar and naphthalene were left behind and polluted the surface water. The exploration is a part of a bigger project. In the context of Charleroi I consider the city as a pandora’s box. From birds flying in the shop windows, to red light districts in industrial area’s to a guy that looks like Elvis Presley driving tru town in a 1970’s pink caddilac Charleroi forms a collection of places and people that commemorate another time one of forgotten dreams.
