About me Cristina Quera Cendoya. I was born in Spain in 1997, in the Catalan city of Barcelona. Since then I have lived in this city, though throughout these years I have tried to travel to the maximum in order to know new cultures and landscapes. I understood that moving was one of most effective ways of knowing. Cities like Rome have served me as models when it is a question of imagining and create. History, art and architecture joined to give place to a city that in my opinion does not have comparison. Between my interests one finds the drawing, the photography, and the architecture besides, since already I have said, to know the world. Along my life I have had experiences that have given me the tools to find myself and to direct my both personal and labour life, but the overcoat to understand that luck is an attitude. I am an organized, dynamic and creative person. I adapt easily to the circumstances that arise and I consider myself effective when it comes to working under pressure. I solve problems practically and pay attention to the details. I am also a good communicator.

Design. 9

La Ricarda. Furniture. February 2017. This project consisted in designing a bar cabinet for La Ricarda. The furniture could be located in the house now as when as when Gomis’s family arrived. So it had to be aesthetically modern but resembling the design that characterized the 50s at the same time.

Location. Designed by architect Antonio Bonet, in close collaborationwith owner Ricardo Gomis and his wife InĂŠs Bertrand Mata, theCasa Gomis, better known as the Ricarda, is perhaps inarchitectural terms the best example of Catalan rationalism. A harmonious design and in constant dialogue with itssurroundings. One of the most emblematic architecturalfeatures of the house is its undulating roof, which integratesperfectly in the surrounding landscape. Transparent ortranslucent enclosures and a design of highly studied furnitureprovide a delicate sense of continuity between the interior andthe exterior. 11

Proposal. The scene in which we place it is the moment after lunch or dinner, when one sits on the couch, with a whisky in hand and accompanied by a good cigar. Time to gather with friends. The place is sophisticated but warm and comfortable; This helps the creation of a light, tidy and spacious space, at the same time as cosy. To make our furniture integrated in this environment we used light shapes and materials such as glass and wood, which predominate throughout the space.

Process. First of all we studied the scene we wanted to recreate. So we could see what elements should be able to be placed in the furniture. This helped us to develop the formal part of the product (see what parts we wanted hidden, what materials could be suitable,...) From here we create a sophisticated, light and warm Bar Cabinet.

The Bloc House. Interior design. October 2017. This project consisted of the reform of one of the Casa Bloc cockpits, adapting it to the needs of a user. This space should be ideal for this person, satisfying their needs, tastes, interests and, in general, their personality.

‘In my perfect house I would have more practical spaces to keep things’ - Lourdes Domingo.

Context. Name: Bloc House. Authors: Josep Lluís Sert (1902-1983), Josep Torres Clavé (1906-1939) y Joan Baptista Subirana (19041978), Members of the group GATEPAC. Period: Built between 1932 y 1936. Architectural movement: Architectural rationalism, which is an architecture directed the human and characterized by the predominance of the concepts of structure and function; because of the use of the geometric simple forms with orthogonal criteria and because of the dynamic conception of the architectural space.

User: Lourdes Domingo. “I am necessary to grow in patience. Sometimes I am too much a perfectionist in some things, but in others, in which I have less skill, I leave myself to go more for the blemish and am more tolerant. I like to combine two types of tasks: the more reflexive one and the more practice one.”

Location: San Andrés’s district of the city of Barcelona (Spain). Context: It is an icon of the racionalist architecture in Barcelona due to the fact that it was a social innovative project, integrated to the urban environment and with functional housings conceived as minimal housings standard for workers. 15

Proposal.

To carry out the project we studied the user and we did a list of her needs which we had to attend to. We gave the major importance to his pleasure for sleeping, his profession (critique of cinema), the disconnection need and personal care. From then and across moodboars, sketches and maps in 2D and 3D it began the search of an ideal realizable concept for the reform. We created a series of cubic modules as furniture which dimensions were adapted to the functions that the same ones had to fulfill. Thus we designed a new cockpit from this module with zones to project movies, a rest area, lamps and furniture of different colors that were defining the space.

Process. We started by creating moodboards of the concept, the user and modules. We made storyboards, “ light paintings “, collages and conceptual models that ended up by giving place to the final idea. Once found it we developed maps and renders necessary to produce the final model. 17

We Want Hats. Product design. November 2018. The idea is is to revive a forgotten local brand, to turn the brand image and notion upside down by adding a highly contemporary twist, revamping the graphics completely, overhauling the product and presenting it in a space that represents the very essence of the transformed brand. The local brand that we have chosen is Obach.

Concept & business model

Proposal.

It is important to make clear that we do not intend to commercialize a fight such as the abolition of gender, on the contrary, we are clear that we are a store that takes benefit of the sale of products, but even as part of the capitalist wheel, we want to be able to help and create a frame in which this unisex image is enhanced.

We want hats is a unisex shop that aims to update the fashion and concept of hats. To do so, they are proposed and sold outfits that combine Obach hats and clothing, shoes and accessories of current unisex brands. This concept avoids gender completely, allowing one to self-identify without restriction. 19

The gradery is a symbol of social and popular meeting, street. Point where people have always met to chat or watch a show, both young and old. The module that we have created and that configures the space comes out from this stand. Thus, the concept of debate and meeting point is tried to spread throughout the store.

Lineargent web. Graphic design. July 2017 and September 2018. Working in Lineargent I have made part of the website of the brand. Each collection is aimed at a type of people and therefore has a specific style. From all the collections and their respective catalogues I made the web of “Cotton”, “Velvet”, “Mini” and “Constellation”. Of these, I had to design the version for the mobile and computer.

Graphic for a display. September 2017. Graphic for display jewelry for Lineargent’s 2017 Christmas campaign. It had to be a graphic module that could be adapted to different sizes of showcases, so we could repeat it vertically and horizontally without breaking the composition. 25

SMOORF. New Materials. June 2019. SMOORF has a very finishsmooth thanks to the plaster, this is why we managed to have very good precision in the textures. Very clean and rigorous details and it adapts easily to any mold. On the other hand, it is very easy to mix with any paint, thus obtaining smooth or printed results. It would be an excellent material around the decorative and design field. SMOORF is made for a small production and with the possibility to customize the part.

Proposal. By mixing textile waste with organic or inorganic residues or other substances we define the composition of the matter and the production process. We’re starting to shape it and functionality. In this way we manage to revalue the material and formalize it in a sustainable product by introducing it into a circular economy system. Not only do we take advantage of textile waste, but we also revalue the plaster, reducing its cost and the weight of the material. 29
