June 26, 2014 Letter of recommendation for Donyiel Crocker: This highly recommends Donyiel Crocker for a public relations position. I’ve had the pleasure of teaching Donyiel in two public relations courses, and she aced both of them with hard work and dedication. Donyiel approached every assignment in my courses with passion. I first taught Donyiel public relations writing. This is a pivotal course in PR majors’ development, and Donyiel, who was already a proficient writer, applied herself to learning how to write excellent news releases, fact sheets and feature stories. In class, she often led in-class participation, and worked effectively with other students. She made the class better for everyone. Next, I had the opportunity to teach an advanced course on public relations issues and crisis. I put Donyiel into a leadership role for her group, and she excelled. For the topics we were going to discuss, she didn’t just do the reading and prepare questions. She conducted additional research and brought the latest in fresh thinking to the issues we discussed in class. Donyiel is intellectually curious. From smart questions to just everyday conversation, I enjoyed getting to know her as a student and a little bit as a person, too. She displays a positive attitude toward learning. She sought me out for advice and counsel on her career aspirations and I was impressed by the analysis she brought to her decision making. And, she has a pleasing and entertaining personality that I know will be a major asset in the public relations profession. The best recommendation I can make is this: I’ve hired or supervised the hiring of dozens of young PR professionals in my long agency career, and I would get her into my organization in a second! Please let me know if I can assist you further or answer any specific questions. It would be my pleasure to talk about Donyiel. Sincerely, Don W.
