A This sensationally vibrantly printed 80%Polyester, 20% Cotton dress cloth, comes in a very much Caribbean inspired floral print which covers the entire surface of the cloth. Very colourful without being brash, easy care because there is a lot of polyester in it, and a lovely hand, which promises wonderful wear qualities.

✿✿A Conundrum This 150cm wide soft finish, cotton and viscose shirting is from a maker of high price clothing and comes in dark navy, with a very cleverly woven faint little slump in white. Which on closer inspection reveals bits of other colours, but almost all too faint to worry about? It will make anything from shirts to lightweight jackets and it’s an easy to care for cloth.

D ✿✿Dakota This 140cm wide extremely fine, cotton, needle cord, shirting reminds me of Doris Day, Calamity Jane, Annie Oakley and all the rest. It comes in quite a lovely shade of brown and has been embroidered with tiny little flowers in Spring-like colours in shiny polyester thread. Ridiculously comfortable to wear, I imagine.

Any road, this cloth is Donegal tweed in the autumnal heather tones of damson, grey, beige some red, blue and orange fleck, substantially beautiful.

The navy stripe is almost two centimetres wide and the mushroom stripe less than one centimetre wide. Striped from top to bottom, unless of course you make things t- opposite way round. A very classy looking cloth.

✿✿Deep South In a flash this came to me as I was momentarily lost, but then, I find this 150cm wide very pale pink polyester nylon crepe dress fabric with and all over what looks to me to be like roses print in shades of peach, mauve and pale grey. A nice mutation of these pale colours so that they did not have to spend too much on printing ink. Would look at hope on the grounds of Tara or equally at the local village dance or a summer fete.

✿✿Heavily Disguised If you image watching an episode of Mid-Summer murders, you would come across a scene where someone is looking at something through the impenetrable branches and leaves of a bush. This 150cm wide black and grey polyester Ponte Roma jersey brings it readily to mind. The design is abstract which might resemble animal markings. ✿✿Hall of the mountain king 150cm wide woollen coating is of such a magnitude you almost wonder why they made it, but then I have just lifted a 22m roll that we have, and it doesn’t appear to have all that much weight in it, enough but not all that much. The design is a large window pane type check in a wonderful heathery mix of blues, turquoise, grey and beige, the whole range of colours that you would expect to find in a cloth of this kind. I wouldn’t want to make anything too big, for fear of overdoing it. One of those sorts of triangular type short coats would do it justice.

That I am not sure I have the words to describe it suffice to say, that it is a riot of colour on a background and could described perhaps as a fireworks display viewed through a prism. There you see I have got the words. This is so fine it scrumples to nothing but if it is over a bikini you will need to consider overlaying this.

✿✿Lisbon I think I might have mentioned before that the origin of the colour navy blue refers to the colour of the ocean somewhere off the coast of Lisbon, Portugal. I will believe it’s true because I have seen it, and the water there is an incredibly, wonderfully dark navy blue, which is the colour of this 150cm wide Italian mouflon coating that I have before me. Made from 80% wool and 20% polyamide it has all the attributes a good coating should have, that is to say fairly light weight, warm, hard wearing and not least good looking.

150cm wide, substantial, but both light and soft suiting in navy and pale grey, it has a very faint but distinct pattern which for some reason reminds me of mystery. 54% Polyester, 41% viscose, 5% elastane. I did not come to work yesterday because Spring had arrived and there was a serious amount of work to be done in the garden, most of which I accomplished along with several trips to the tip to dispose of what I had cut off. Hoping to finish it off today, but sadly Spring has sprung and it’s, not cold but chilly, and it’s damp and in between the dampness it is raining. So Caroline said would I come and look at these jerseys that have been here a little while now and had escaped my attention, well they haven’t now. It’s a very colourful without being brightly coloured and is in a completely random abstract design which involves great sways and bands of these lovely subdued blues, browns, purple and grey with this devastating cream in one might say, floral design, but one might not, either; attention seeking to say the least.

It is a very pale green, I can remember once being transported in a military aircraft from Manston airport in Kent to Berlin, my first flight and I was suitably attired in khaki with a green check shirt and I had the completion to match. This is a little story of soft furnishing cloths from Roald Dahl characters.

They are all printed on lovely quality cotton sateen in the following designs. These are furnishing fabrics so can be used for blinds, curtains, cushions, bedspread, beanbags but these are also perfect for aprons and if you are feeling brave and want to stand out; a jacket! a) Bunk Doodling – crazily stacked books, no shelves with stacks of books large and small all over the place with books opened in between the stacks. The main background colour is a lovely baby pink and the books are all in contrasting complimentary bright colours. b) Hopscotch - which is a white cloth with splodges of pastel colours all about 2 cm in diameter with the letters BFG in the middle of some of them. c) Lickswishy - Doesn’t mean anything to me but it will to a fan of Roald Dahl, it comes in pale blue with an all over sweetie sort of print. Some that are wrapped and some that aren’t. d) Giant - This is a print from James and the Giant Peach story predictably with a very large peach print with a yellow, peach and black detailing. e) Miss Spider - A little miss spider, black on white the spiders themselves are a good 3cm long and 2cm wide and fairly spooky. f) BFG - The best of the lot, perhaps because it is the silliest it is the BFG design this time in the pale blue with white squares all depicting scenes from the book and film with the words that were made up by the BFG printed underneath them. g) Fantabulous - Not much to do with anything, childlike floral print in lots of lovely pastel shades outlined in black and somewhat abstract.

✿✿Those Who Can 148cm wide Incredibly finely woven 97% cotton, 3% elastane suiting in cream. There is a phenomenal amount of yarn in this cloth, which gives it a very smooth finish which has been enhanced by calendaring, which helps give it a very soft finish. In as much as, it was made for tight stretch garments, but that would be a waste as it is a far too beautiful a cloth to be restricted to that.

Perhaps a bit of a lady politicians cloth this one.

The cloth is fairly open weave cotton canvas, woven into the middle of which, has been sandwiched a pale yellow cloth which in between the cotton looks like varying width ribbons. These yarns have a soft satin finish to them. There is nothing ordinary about this cloth, quite extraordinary in fact. I see very pretty jackets and dresses in this.
