of Science in Business Journalism combines courses from the Cronkite School and the W. P. Carey School of Business at ASU. Students study business principles and practices as well as entrepreneurship and media law.

The undergraduate

specialization in business journalism for students at the Cronkite School includes a capstone on the Reynolds Business desk of Cronkite News, the only university-based newsroom in the country that produces daily coverage of business and economic issues.

The Master of Mass Communication program offers a specialization in business journalism for graduate students. Research assistantships and scholarships are available; students practice their reporting and writing skills while working with the editors of businessjournalism.org.

The Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Business Journalism has trained more than 30,000 professional journalists since it was established in 2003. Headquartered at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University, the center was established to improve the quality of media coverage of business and the economy. It is supported by the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, a Las Vegas philanthropic organization that has provided major support to educational institutions and other nonprofit organizations.

The Barlett & Steele Awards for Investigative Business Journalism are named for the two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning reporting team of Don Barlett and Jim Steele. These awards have celebrated the best in investigative business journalism since 2007. Gold, silver and bronze awards of $5,000, $2,000 and $1,000 are given in the fall each year. Previous gold award winners include top national publications like The New York Times, ProPublica and the Associated Press. Five Barlett & Steele award winning investigations have gone on to win a Pulitzer Prize.
