This Weekend at The Crossing: Guest Speakers Eric & Jennifer Garcia Eric and Jennifer are the co-founders of the Association of Marriage and Family Ministries (AMFM). AMFM was birthed based on needs they found in their own church and on their belief that the church must lead, by example, the movement to strengthen marriages and families in a community. We are privileged to share in the Garcia’s extensive marriage and relationship knowledge and experience.
Before You Say Your Vows... Whether you’re engaged or dating, we want to help you establish a foundation for an enduring union. This two-day pre-marriage class will provide practical tools to help you maintain a strong, successful marriage. Each two-day class consists of a Friday night session, 7 to 9 p.m. and a Saturday session, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Summer Pre-Marital classes will take place on Friday, August 6 and Saturday, August 7. Elder Confirmation The Crossing Church is pleased to announce that Jim Carter has accepted our invitation to join our team of Elders. Jim will be formally introduced at our First Wednesday Service on August 4th.
Church Wide Auditions We will be holding church wide auditions for anyone interested in being a part of the Worship Arts Team at The Crossing Church. We will be auditioning musicians and vocalists September 2nd from 10am-6:00pm and September 4th from 9am-2pm. We’ve never done this before… Play CHARADES. Yes, charades. You will have to get people to guess something from your past, in particular a role you had, Cheerleader, McDonald’s employee, 1st chair flute, ROTC, etc.
Digging Deeper: 2. This weekend, the Garcia’s are getting at the root of relationships that suffer due to the many masks we put on when around people. Take a look again at the five main opportunities we have to eliminate masks in our relationships and then discuss the two topics below: a.

d. Create Trust – Matt. 14:28-31 e. Be a Safe Place – John 4 •
To understand each of these areas, look at them from the opposite point of view. For example, what does it look like in a relationship to not be approachable?

Which of these areas seems to come most easily to you? Which are the hardest for you? When it gets hard, can you identify the mask you wear?
Application: 3. If possible, break into groups of two or three based on gender. Allow each person to share a specific example of how they struggle to remove the mask in relationships. Using Jesus as the example from Scripture above, what practical steps can be taken to overcome the mask? What nuggets came from this past weekend’s message that now seem perfect solutions? Pray!
