Dr. King’s birth home reopening Jan. 16

The first floor of the birth home of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Auburn Avenue in Atlanta will stay open until further notice. The home was closed in August 2016 for repairs.

The birth home of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., which closed in August 2016 for repairs, will reopen to visitors on Jan. 16 – but only partially. The National Park Service says the first floor of the historic home on Auburn Avenue in Atlanta will reopen on the King national holiday and stay open until further notice.
