CROWN CROSS COUNTRY
A LETTER FROM THE COACH Greetings from Crown College and our Cross Country program! I want to thank you for taking the time to look over this brochure and consider Crown College for your future. This is a great time for Crown Cross Country with the direction the program is headed, including the exciting addition of Track and Field to the list of 16 NCAA Division III teams offered by Crown College. There are many opportunities for student-athletes to join our programs and have an impact right away. This year’s team has a number of athletes who are running in our top five who are in their first or second year at Crown. We are looking for a quality group of student-athletes to join both our Cross Country and Track and Field programs for our exciting run through the season. The Cross Country and Track & Field programs have the motto “His Team – His Glory.” This ties in with Hebrews 12:1: “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” Come join us in the race at Crown College!

ACADEMIC SUPPORT
CAREER DEVELOPMENT
We expect each player will earn a GPA of 3.0 or greater. For first-year players and “at-risk” students, each student will create a schedule for the semester. All of their grades are recorded onto this plan, and a copy of each class syllabus is turned in with the calendar. Academic meetings are scheduled weekly or as needed; academic help is provided in the form
We have developed a four-year plan with the Crown College Career Services Department to help prepare our student-athletes for their professional lives. The basic outline is:
of tutors, the writing center, and workshops.
Year 1: Self-assessment and Resume Writing Year 2: Internships and Job Shadowing Year 3: Grad School Advising and Networking
Year 4: Interview Preparation
LEADERSHIP TRAINING
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Cohesiveness is developed when our leaders relate to their teammates and use their influence to shape decisions and strengthen commitment levels. Leadership training is open to anyone interested. It consists of ten weekly workshops where we meet to discuss The Team Captain’s Leadership Manual by Jeff Janssen.
Throughout the year we will perform at least ten hours of community service. Our community service events could include working at a soup kitchen to feed the hungry, housework for the elderly, or passing out church brochures in the local surroundings.
FACILITIES • The Crown College cross country course is laid out over 215 beautiful acres of land. • Home meets and most practices are conducted on the campus. • Recently upgraded weight room for students and student-athletes.
