WOMEN’S SOCCER
CROWN
A LETTER FROM THE COACH We believe that our program promotes individual growth through the challenges and demands that our studentathletes face. Our goal is to recruit amazing individuals and help them develop the necessary life skills to be successful citizens when they graduate. We encourage skills such as accountability, responsibility, teamwork, and leadership. In addition, we reinforce positive work habits and well-roundedness through our involvement within the classroom, campus, and the local community. The ideal Crown College soccer player has a strong Christian character and is the embodiment of integrity, loyalty, and honesty. We value outgoing personalities and people who are passionate about soccer and life in general. We are looking for players who are competitive, inspired, and willing to risk losing. We strive for balance between academics, athletics, and social lives. Our program’s philosophy is quality versus quantity. Our primary focus is to create the most effective starting lineup so we can be successful against our opponents. Team development comes before player development. We strive for efficiency in our practice sessions and believe that a little extra effort can make all the difference. - JAMIE ROSS, Head Coach

MEET THE TEAM I love this team because it isn’t just a soccer team. It’s a family that is so welcoming. Coming from overseas I was welcomed with open arms and am so grateful to be a part of the this amazing program! - Savannah Smith
Being a member of the Crown soccer team has helped me become a better teammate and person. The team is very welcoming and we are a family. The support the girls bring is amazing and they make it that much easier to be away from home. - Abby Taylor
ACADEMIC SUPPORT Our expectation is that each player will earn a GPA of 3.0 or greater. For first year players and “at risk” students, each student will create a schedule for the semester. All of their grades are recorded onto this plan, and a copy of each class syllabus is turned in with the calendar. Academic meetings are scheduled weekly or as needed; academic help is provided in the form of tutors, the writing center, and workshops. LEADERSHIP TRAINING Cohesiveness is developed when our leaders relate to their teammates and use their influence to shape decisions and strengthen commitment levels. Leadership training is open to anyone interested. It consists of ten weekly workshops where we meet to discuss The Team Captain’s Leadership Manual by Jeff Janssen. CAREER DEVELOPMENT We have developed a four-year plan with the Crown College Career Services Department to help prepare our student-athletes for their professional lives. The basic outline is:
Year 1: Self-assessment and Resume Writing Year 2: Internships and Job Shadowing Year 3: Grad School Advising and Networking Year 4: Interview Preparation
COMMUNITY SERVICE Throughout the year we will perform at least ten hours of community service. Our community service events could include working at a soup kitchen to feed the hungry, housework for the elderly, or passing out church brochures in the local surroundings.
FACILITIES
• Capacity of nearly 1,500 people • New weight room opened in 2015, all new equipment and size increase by 77% • Home to Crown football, men’s soccer, and women’s soccer teams • Partnership with Old National Bank • State-of-the-art field turf, stadium lights, bleachers, and press box
