TRACK & FIELD
CROWN
A LETTER FROM THE COACH Greetings from the Crown College Track & Field program. Thank you for taking the time to consider Crown College for your future educational needs. I hope you find our program to be one you will want to learn more about. Over the last four years of offering track & field as a sport, our program has shown improvement in both the total number of members in the program and the quality of our results. With our increase in the size of our program we still offer new members the opportunity to have an immediate impact on our team. The Crown Track & Field program has the motto “His Team – His Glory.” This ties in with the verse Hebrews 12:1, where it says, “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” Come join us in this race at Crown College. - BILL BRAUNGER, Head Coach

MEET THE TEAM “I like being in track at Crown because it gives me the opportunity to do something I enjoy for the glory of God. It is exciting to see hard work pay off and give thanks to God for giving me perseverance.” - LYNNEA ASP
“Crown track is special because it teaches you how to work well with others as a team. Being a part of this team has helped me learn teamwork instead of trying to do everything myself. I’ve also learned how to create healthy habits for later in life like healthy eating and better workout programs.” - DAVID JONES
“I love running cross country and track at Crown because of the amazing teammates and the individualized workouts. The supportive environment pushes me to reach my full potential.” - JESSICA DARLING
ACADEMIC SUPPORT
CAREER DEVELOPMENT
Our expectation is that each player will earn a GPA of 3.0 or greater. For first year players and “at risk” students, each student will create a schedule for the semester. All of their grades are recorded onto this plan, and a copy of each class syllabus is turned in with the calendar. Academic meetings are scheduled weekly or as needed; academic help is provided in the form of tutors, the writing center, and workshops.
We have developed a four-year plan with the Crown College Career Services Department to help prepare our student-athletes for their professional lives. The basic outline is:
LEADERSHIP TRAINING Cohesiveness is developed when our leaders relate to their teammates and use their influence to shape decisions and strengthen commitment levels. Leadership training is open to anyone interested. It consists of ten weekly workshops where we meet to discuss The Team Captain’s Leadership Manual by Jeff Janssen.
Year 1: Self-assessment and Resume Writing Year 2: Internships and Job Shadowing Year 3: Grad School Advising and Networking Year 4: Interview Preparation
COMMUNITY SERVICE Throughout the year we will perform at least ten hours of community service. Our community service events could include working at a soup kitchen to feed the hungry, housework for the elderly, or passing out church brochures in the local surroundings.
