USA Nat ional Miss

crowns its 8th generation of national royalty

The happiest pageant on earth was held at the happiest place on earth, with the crowning of six new national winners at the 8th annual USA National Miss national pageant. Held at Walt Disney World?s Swan and Dolphin Resort, USA National Miss delivered an unparalleled national pageant experience for nearly 250 delegates that had all the vibes of a woman?s empowerment conference. The excitement level was high as young women from across the USA competed for the six national titles, all while enjoying fun theme parties, meeting pageant celebrities, and hearing encouraging stories from Katie Stam Irk (Miss America 2009), Nia Sanchez (Miss USA 2014) and Kristen Dalton Wolfe (Miss USA 2009). Kicking off the week was a Positive Pageantry Festival, and six drawings were held for free tickets to the Miss USA pageant, to join the newly crowned national royalty in this new addition to the UNM prize package. Sparing no expense to offer unique and exclusive opportunities, UNM officials had three events where delegates could learn and be inspired by pageant greats, including Miss Universe 1992. Designer ASHLEYlauren provided an exclusive opportunity for the third year in a row. A runway competition was held, and judged by Ashley herself, in which she selected her new social media and showroom models from the contestants at nationals. #OnlyAtUNM Contestants were star struck by the powerhouse panel of national judges. It?s not every day that you get to interview in front of Savvy Shields (Miss America 2017), Caelynn Miller Keyes (1st Runner up to Miss USA 2018), Michelle McLean (Miss Universe 1992), Esonica Veira (Miss Universe U.S. Virgin Islands 2018), Mallory Hagan (Miss America 2013), Arna Yr Jonsdottir (Miss Universe Iceland 2018), Kristen Dalton Wolfe (Miss USA 2009), and A?Maiya Allen (USA National Jr. Teen 2014.) The outgoing national royalty were treated to a private party with the judges where they got to hang out, get advice and learn tricks of the trade. UNM provides incredible perks and opportunities to its queens. UNM executive director, Jackie Watson held a book signing for her recently published book, ?Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Pageantry? and announced that the new queens will grace the cover of Jackie?s fifth book, to be released in 2019 ? another exciting and exclusive opportunity provided only at UNM. UNM crowned its 2018 national royalty on a gorgeous stage during the finals show hosted by Pageant Smart owner and director of Miss Iceland Universe, Jorge Esteban. After competing in runway, interview and evening gown, winning the titles and an immense prize and experience package were: Michaela Abelgas (Miss), Julianna Corsi (Teen), Naia Torres (Jr. Teen), Allie Ingram (Preteen), Tessa Marino (Princess) and Emory Cooler (Jr. Princess). She is also very active in her school serving as a delegate on the Global Schools Committee. Lily was questioned, by the state committee, about her school's diversity and how her school honors her Chinese Culture. After the interview with many students and staff, Unionville Elementary was named a North Carolina Model Global Ready School. She also participates with Girls on the Run, which inspire girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind. This organization teaches girls to get up and be active, while training for a 5K run. Lily believes pageants give girls confidence and helps them set goals for their future. ?If you walk away having learned one new thing, you are a winner ?. ?Never let anything or anyone prevent you from fulfilling your dreams?. She hopes to one-day walk the runway in New York wearing a dress designed by Sherri Hill, who is one of her favorite pageant dress designers. Until then, she will still be a farm girl at heart, giving back to her community, continuing to strive to be her very best self. She wants every young girl to know that hard work and dedication does pay off. "Be the Jewel on the Crown while striving for Success". Lily Starnes.

Lily is the 10-year-old daughter of Jeff and Robin Starnes from Unionville, NC. In July, Lily traveled to Louisville, Kentucky, representing North Carolina as their Junior Preteen and was crowned America's Natural Supreme Beauties - National Junior Overall Grand Supreme. She loves art and fashion and wants to be a fashion designer one day. When Lily is not involved in pageantry, she is working on her family farm caring for the lamas, Nigerian dwarf dairy goats, and chickens. She is also a volunteer with Southeast German Shepherd Rescue helpings with community meet and greets, selling raffle tickets and fund raising. Lily is also a supporter of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. She collects donations each year for their Charlotte walk in honor of her Grandfather who is a diabetic. One of her favorite platforms is collecting items for our active service men and women through Military Missions based in Kentucky. Military Missions takes donated items, assembles care packages and sends the packages to soldiers serving our country in the Middle East. If it were not for the sacrifices of these brave men and women, we could not have the freedoms we enjoy.

How To Wor k ou t Wh en You Can't Wor k ou t Having a super busy day and don?t have time to get to the gym? You should always aim to dedicate 30 to 45 minutes minimum to your gym time routine, but when that?s just not possible break it up into mini sessions. It?s not ideal, but it will still get your cardiovascular system pumping and boost your metabolism throughout the day When I know I can?t get to the gym for a full workout I do things like calf raises while I wait for something to print, squeeze my abs during conference calls or do 10 counter top push ups each time I use the restroom. There is always time to work in a work out!

USA Am bassador Pagean t by Coach Brittany DiCello The mission of the USA Ambassador pageant is to be a charity driven organization that promotes ?Success through Leadership, Integrity, Character and Confidence? in today?s young women. They were recognized as one of the Top 10 National Pageants in 2017 by The Pageant Planet. The National pageant is held in Tampa, FL each year. Contestants participate in local and state competitions which determine their ability to compete at the national level. Age divisions range from Jr. Preteen (ages 7-9) to Ms. (26 & up). The competition consists of USA Fashion Wear, On stage Chat, Evening Wear, and Private Interview. There are also nine optional competitions that contestants can opt-in to participate. USA Ambassador focuses on their motto, S.L.I.C.C. Success through leadership, integrity, character and confidence.

This pageant is community service driven with their national platform being recognized as Big Brothers Big Sisters. USA Ambassador was Livvy Tieman?s first national pageant. She is the 11-year-old daughter of Courtney and Shane Tieman of Garner, NC where she is a sixth grader at Cleveland Middle School and has two brothers. Inspired by a special friend, Livvy launched her platform, The Kindness Club at her school in 3rd grade to encourage kindness among fellow students, with special emphasis on special needs students, those with social difficulties and kids who are often left out. Her website, www.kindnessisfree.club, encourages students nationwide to charter Kindness Clubs locally, including step-by-step guides to do so. She was named the Runner-Up for the SLICC Community Service Award at USA Ambassador Nationals, where she also received the Social Media and SLICC awards. Livvy also volunteers with The Boys & Girls Club of Johnston County, with special support of the Smart Girls Program, and the Moffitt Cancer

Center that was instrumental in saving National Director Kristin Thurston's life As the Top 5 quickly became the Top 2, she was in disbelief as she stood next to South Carolina?s Preteen, Landis McKee who is one of her best friends from competing in the USA Ambassador program. After the longest seconds of her life, they announced Livvy Tieman as the new USA Ambassador Preteen! While in total shock, she first thanked God as the tears began flowing down her face. When asked her favorite part about the USA Ambassador pageant Tieman responded, ?My favorite part was all of the fun optional portions of competition, the true sisterhood and how organized the pageant was. The directors always had us busy doing fun activities!? Tieman?s best advice is to ?go BIG and do it afraid.? You never know what the outcome may be, so always work your hardest and have fun! If you love fun optionals, community service, and the sisterhood of pageantry then USA Ambassador is the perfect pageant for you!

?Sparkle.? It?s a word that we use in the pageant world often. ?Be sure to sparkle up there!? ?She just has that extra sparkle, you know?? ?Sparkle, baby, sparkle!? How the heck do you get your pageant sparkle? Is it something that just comes natural to us? Are we born with it? Do you just have it? or you don?t? Pageant sparkle is something that can be taught. These 5 Pillars lay out the fundamentals that pageant contestants should focus on and strive to perfect in order to really sparkle on stage (and off the stage). The one thing that I have always admired pageant contestants for is their ability to walk into a room and turn heads. Not just because of their looks, but because of their ability to sparkle. So let?s get down to it! 5 Im por t an t Tips You ?ll Lear n 1. Per son al Developm en t is the first step to finding your pageant sparkle. It is something that comes from within, so that is where we will start. 2. Br an din g is key to sparkling at your next pageant. What will make the judges remember you? If your personal brand is all over the place, it will be hard for them to envision placing the crown on your head. 3. Com m u n icat ion Sk ills are absolutely necessary to your pageant sparkle. You have a great story to tell. We want to make sure the judges hear it! 4. St age Pr esen ce is the finishing touch to your pageant sparkle. The smallest tips, tricks, and tweaks can really make a difference in whether or not you stand out amongst the crowd. 5. Im age tops it all off! Defining your image and carrying through with that vision will help you sparkle at your next pageant.
