I am a breast cancer surgeon in t he Plano, Texas area and have pract iced surgery for over 27 years - w hat a joy it is t o do w hat you love!Aside from educat ing w om en about breast cancer and it s t reat m ent I am an advocat e for w om en?s healt h in general, and relish each opport unit y t o encourage ot hers regarding sim ple lifest yle choices t hat can reduce risk for cancer and cardiovascular event s

As Ms Texas Senior Am erica, I am excit ed about having a broader plat form t o cham pion w om en?s healt h, but aw are t hat t here are ot her needs in our com m unit y I am st ruck by t he increase in violence against w om en t hat seem s t o happen alm ost daily in t he new s, and recent ly discovered t here w as a 10% rise in int im at e part ner abuse during t he COVID pandem ic I am learning t hat int im at e part ner abuse, physical or em ot ional, crosses all socioeconom ic lines, and m en are vict im s as w ell

As I int erface w it h t he public, I am hoping t o decrease t he num ber of vict im s of dom est ic abuse by reaching out t o our yout h, t he young ladies in part icular, and educat e t hem about w hat healt hy and balanced relat ionships look like - sharing t he red flags of pot ent ially cont rolling and abusive relat ionships before t hey becom e int w ined in t hem One of t he w ays t hat t his can be achieved is t hrough part nership w it h t he school dist rict s and int egrat ion of t hese t rut hs in t he curriculum as t ools for life

I am a m em ber of Delt a Sigm a Thet a Sororit y, Inc, and an avid t ennis player w it h t he Unit ed St at es Tennis Associat ion I enjoy dancing, and m usical perform ances from all genres I play som e piano, and recent ly st art ed violin lessons because I hold fast t o t he idea t hat w e are lim it ed only by w hat our m inds cannot im agine for ourselves My fait h is w hat grounds m e, and I feel cert ain God is direct ing m y pat h.
