COVER
Forever changed,
Natalie Shannon Suggs, was thrilled to be crowned on August 27th, 2018 as the USA National Miss North Carolina Preteen! Her dream of earning a National title with the USA National Miss Organization was one step closer to reality! Natalie is the 11-year-old daughter of Penny Isenhour and Shannon Suggs of Mount Pleasant, North Carolina. Natalie is an “All-American” daughter of a United States Marine! She loves her country and wants to give back to the greatest nation on earth. She is just like any other typical Preteen! She enjoys singing, learning to play the guitar, making slime and collecting “Squishies”. It’s important to mention that Natalie has three older brothers! So, she is pretty tough! Being the youngest sibling in a home of all male siblings makes for some tough training. However, Natalie is proud to be the “sparkle” amide all the rough and tough! In January of 2015, Natalie founded a community service club called G.I.R.L.S. This stands for Girls Impacting Real Life Situations. Over the last few years, Natalie has severed her community on a regular basis as part of her passion for giving back. She is a two-time recipient of the Gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award for 2016 and 2017 and is well on her way to her third! She has participated and helped with the Special Olympics, collected 2000 coloring books for the Shriner’s Hospitals, created NATALIE’S SPORTS CLOSET (collecting sports supplies for those in need), OVER 6000 items to her local food bank, blanket drives, Easter Baskets for special needs classrooms in her county, she raised over $400 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Earth Day Cleanup projects, NC Flood Relief collection and delivery, $1000 for school improvement projects and so much more. First and foremost, Natalie wants to remember that being a titleholder is not just a crown but an opportunity to make a difference! She will
continue to work through her club girls to inspire today’s youth to make an impact in their community by serving one another and the less fortunate. As a dedicated member of her community she wants to spread her message across North Carolina. She also wants to continue to spread her message on the national level. Natalie is a great role model for young girls and a strong advocate for the USA National Miss Organization. She feels the key to making a difference is to do so, one day at a time and by relating to others in their time of need. In the spirit of #PositivePageantry, being genuinely compassionate and having a heart for service is Natalie’s purpose. She loves to serve and to inspire.

National Miss North and South Carolina is proud to be a part of
the award winning USA National Miss Scholarship Organization. Each year, girls and young women from across both Carolina’s vie for the coveted state titles of USA National Miss North and South Carolina and work towards the ultimate goal of becoming a national queen. At USA National Miss, it is not just about the “crown”, it is about the sisterhood, the service and the commitment to celebrating their accomplishments. We believe in empowering young women to be graceful, articulate, self-confident and to have a servant’s heart. Our state titleholder’s work very hard putting in hours of community service each year and strive to promote the positive pageantry movement by lifting up and empowering others while working to create a bully-free environment not just in our schools but in our communities.
A note from the director: Becoming part of USA National Miss has been the greatest milestone of my career as a director, I was humbled and proud to be honored this past summer as the 2017 USA National Miss Director of the Year. I joined the USA National Miss movement 3 years ago as the North Carolina State Director and over the course of the last two years have brought the Carolina’s together and united them as UNM Carolina’s with a double header state pageant that will take place in August 2018. I believe the two states are “better together and stronger together”. It’s my mission as their director to mentor and prepare each of my girls along their journey to nationals. Our 2018 national pageant will be held at the luxurious Swan & Dolphin Resort in Disney World this Summer, follow their journey and cheer on our Carolina girls as they follow their dreams of being a national titleholder. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for my reigning twelve state titleholders. They amaze me every day with their commitment, hard work and dedication. You could be next to take the step to becoming a USA National Miss Carolina’s State Titleholder, we are currently looking for girls and young women between the ages of 4 and 25 to take a leap of faith and join the UNM sisterhood and family this August. The girls who are chosen in August, will represent their home state at the 2019 USA National Miss Scholarship Pageant which will be held in Disney World in the summer of 2019. The Road to Disney, start right here in the Carolina’s! Michelle Maney USA National Miss State Director North & South Carolina
