Marketing & Communications Manager – Job Description Job title: Marketing & Communications Manager Responsible to: Chief Executive Salary: c. £35,000 - £40,000 (subject to experience) Hours: Full time, 9.00am – 5.30pm (with some evening and weekend work required) Contract: Permanent Company overview Croydon Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID) is a ground breaking private sector led initiative, working with business in central Croydon to improve the town centre as a place to work, live and visit. Croydon BID covers an area of approximately 1,500 businesses; of which c.550 contribute financially through an annual levy of 1% creating an annual budget of £1million for Croydon Town Centre BID. The financial contribution is used to support key projects to improve Croydon Town Centre with a focus on five key priorities: Investing in your safety, Bringing businesses together, Helping you in and around, Delivering Brighter Streets and Creating a Great Impression. Role Overview Croydon is an exciting place in which to live, work and visit. As the town centre prepares to welcome in public and private sector investment to the value of £5.25bn, with the £1.5bn Westfield and Hammerson development central to its success. Over the next five years Croydon will be faced with a number of challenges to overcome and opportunities to seize with a view to establishing the borough as a destination of choice for commercial, retail, leisure and hospitality. Croydon BID is at the heart of that change as it works with its stakeholders and BID levy to provide much needed support throughout its term of office, delivering upon its pledges and investing in to the town centres success. The Marketing & Communications Manager is a central position within the Croydon BID team, responsible for developing a marketing and communications strategy that supports both the corporate and consumer aspects of our business to achieve our aims and objectives. Overseeing the project management of all marketing and communications projects, you will work with and lead our creative development, improving profile, brand value and recognition across all marketing disciplines and platforms including digital. You will be expected to manage our public relations and media requests, supporting the Chief Executive with all aspects, providing sound advice and direction. You will be responsible for a budget and must have the ability to monitor and deliver activities to a high standard, on time and within budget. Main Duties General  

To develop and periodically update Croydon Town Centre BIDs marketing and communications strategy for all activities, internally and externally To project manage and oversee all internal and external relationships regarding our marketing and communications activity

To project manage and oversee all PR and media relationships and enquiries, providing guidance and direction to the Chief Executive To project manage and oversee the creation and development of our destination marketing and communications strategy which includes supporting our annual festival and event programme To identify and evaluate specific marketing channels that may be used for promotional and marketing purposes Management and preparation of the Croydon BID board report To deliver all activities on budget and in time Working with the Chief Executive, ensure the marketing & communications strategy is up to date, fresh and innovative in approach All other job related tasks as reasonably requested by the Chief Executive

Marketing Activity      

Oversee, monitor and project manage the continued development of our marketing platforms and materials designed to support Croydon BID corporately with regards to profile, brand and recognition Develop and deliver an innovative and modern approach to supporting our consumer marketing and communications strategy to provide the necessary support to the town centre and our levy payers Monitor and control the brand on all marketing collaterals, internal and external communications, digital and online marketing and advertising to ensure consistency Deliver a range of marketing materials designed to promote Croydon BID and the services we provide such as the annual report, annual levy letter and renewal business plan creative Consider, develop and deliver a range of marketing materials to support the promotion of Croydon, a destination of choice To project manage the delivery of all agreed internal and external requests for print marketing

Digital Marketing  

           

Conduct an annual audit of all Croydon BID digital platforms with a view to creating a delivering plan for the forward year To develop a content management strategy for all digital communication platforms utilised by Croydon BID to support the BIDs 550 levy payers. Manage and oversee our B2B corporate website, www.croydonbid.com to ensure its content is up to date, valuable and regularly promoted through our digital platforms Manage and oversee our B2C website, www.checkoutcroydon.com to ensure its content is up to date, valuable and regularly promoted through our digital platforms Ensure all digital content is promoted through social media feeds Develop a variety of methods designed to increase not only the content from our levy payers but the quality , working with the Business Support Manager and our Ambassadors Develop all relevant social media platforms managed by Croydon BID in order to increase followers, engagements and impressions. Plan and schedule a rolling programme of posts across all platforms to ensure that levy payers promotions and activities are promoted Develop page engagements using digital marketing platforms through boosts, competitions and more creative and innovative methods Manage a bank of imagery that can be used throughout all of our digital activities Provide regular analysis of the use of all our digital platforms using a variety of methods in order to set baselines and target improvements Attend local events where required to photograph and post on social media Develop relationships with other site admins for pages relating to Croydon, the town centre and ‘destination’ promotion Use Google AdWords, search advertising, Facebook and banner advertising to effectively promote the town centre events and Croydon as a destination of choice

Oversee and manage with the support of the Business Support Manager, the creative development of Check Out Croydon, our loyalty card Provide the necessary support to the Business Support Manager, developing regular ebulletins promoting our levy payers offers and discounts Ensure all offers and regularly promoted through our social media platforms Regularly monitor and evaluate the success of our Check Out Croydon promotions

Person Specification Essential              

Qualified to undergraduate degree level or equivalent in related discipline Experience of writing and implementing marketing and communications strategies Experience in developing and managing digital strategies designed to support Croydon town centre as a destination of choice Experience of managing and implementing large scale marketing & communications projects Skills and experience in creative content writing for both B2C and B2B audiences Flexible, imaginative and creative, coming up with new ideas to maximise coverage and promotional opportunities for Croydon and the BID Excellent people skills Excellent communication skills Experience of public relations and the development of effective copy to a range of target audiences including web and email Excellent team player Excellent organisations skills Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure Understanding of Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) Interest in business and regeneration issues

Desirable    

At least four years’ experience in a similar role Knowledge and understanding of the challenges and opportunities local to Croydon Town Centre Knowledge and understanding of destination marketing and communications Experience in working in a multi-stakeholder environment
