From November 10-13, 2016 the Southeastern Region held our 82nd annual Southeastern Regional Leadership Conference in Atlanta, GA at the Renaissance Concourse Atlanta Airport Hotel. The Southeastern region is comprised of Sorors from South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, US Virgin Islands, Bahamas, and Trinidad. Nu Chi Zeta showed up with a “contingency” of 11 delegates to include our State Director, Nichole Samuel-Miller, State Executive Board member, Paulette Edwards, Basileus Etta Lee Pickering– Mitchell, Michelle Gibbs, Nicole Christian, Nolana Franklin, Annamaria Heyliger-Hector, Karabo Molloy, Juliet John-hope, Valarie Jackson, and Melrona George. The conference commenced with the vendor market, registration, pre-conference workshops, and a NEF Silent Auction. They were a series of workshops and Nu Chi Zeta had representation at most. Later than evening we attended the Grand’s Reception with included food and entertainment. Nu Chi Zeta did not come to play, that evening we came to slay at the “Evening in Blue and White” Awards Banquet. and Risk Management.

Saturday, November 12, 2016 we had a Necrology service, in which Nu Chi Zeta expressed our deepest sympathy to our Sorors which have passed to include our very own, Soror Michelle Severin, 1st President of Nu Chi Zeta. May their souls Rest In Peace. After Necrology, we rededicated ourselves to continue to upload our Founding Principles, scholarship, service, sisterhood, and finer womanhood. We later attended a Risk Management Workshop, which was extremely informing. Risk does not only include hazing, but it may also include alcohol abuse, sexual misconduct, and premise liability. The evening ended with Family Game Night, which consisted of Jeopardy Game Zetas vs. Sigmas, which the Zetas won. On Sunday, November 13, 2016 the SELRC commenced. See you at the 83rd Southeastern Regional Leadership Conference which will take place from November 9-13, 2017 in South Carolina.

The Southeastern Region continues to be “Second to None” while “Building on the Principles of Zeta While Blazing New Paths.”

On November 19, 2016, Nu Chi Zeta volunteered at St. Croix Farmers in Action, Inc. Coconut Festival. It was a day filled with history, face painting, games, music, and raffles.

Thanksgiving is a time for family, friends, food, and fun but most importantly it’s a time to give THANKS and remember the less fortunate. Nu Chi Zeta donated 2 Gift Certificates valued at $80 each towards Human Services Give to a Needy family.

It is important to train a child in the way he should go, Soror AnnaMaria Heyliger-Hector initiated a Brown Bag campaign with her students Church of God of Holiness Academy, where more than 200 bags of goods were donated to My Brother’s Table and Catholic Charities of the Virgin Islands. Students were able to see issues affecting our community and give a helping hand.

Above, Nu Chi Zeta pledges to be environmentally friendly. We adopted a spot along the highway. We regularly beautify the area by picking up trash, cutting grass, and painting to welcome everyone to the city of Frederiksted.

December 2, 2016 Nu Chi Zeta spread some holiday cheer by assisting in the decorating of the Sunny Isle Housing for the Elderly. We also educated the residents on medical issues ranging from the common cold, to STD’s , while providing them with condoms. Later that month on December 29, we hosted a Bingo in which we have always several prizes. #eldercareinitiative

December 18, 2016, Nu Chi Zeta attended our Dovely Soror’s Henry house for our Christmas Party. We sang carols, danced, ate, play games, and enjoyed the beautiful scenery.

Nu Chi Zeta and Chi Rho celebrated our Founder’s Day with a weekend of activities. Above sorors took a tour of Crucian Rum Distillery. We learned the history of the plant and the process as to which our world selling rum is made.

At the family beach fun day, sorors played various games such as, egg spoon race, three legged race, musical chairs, triva, etc. Below: Sorors marched at the MLK Jr. Parade. Following the march, we have out “blessing bags to those in need. These bags included, sanitariy napkins, soaps, toothbrush, toothpaste, washcloth, shampoo, fruit snacks, granola bars, etc.
