Seabourn Cruise Line has announced the sale of Seabourn Odyssey to Japanese transport company Mitsui O.S.K Lines (MOL). Following the sale, Seabourn will continue to operate all published voyages through 22 Aug 2024, when Odyssey will be delivered to MOL. Communicating with Seabourn’s travel partners, new President Natalya Leahy said the cruise line will work directly with all travel partners that have affected guests booked after the sale to find suitable alternatives. “We are proud that Seabourn Odyssey has carried your clients across the world for the last 14 years and are happy to see her join a great company, MOL,” she said. “As we prepare to say farewell to Odyssey in Sep 2024, I am excited to further optimise our fleet as we grow our expedition business. “With the addition of Seabourn Pursuit this summer, Seabourn will have one of the most modern fleets in the ultra-luxury segment with an average age of just seven years.” Leahy said Seabourn’s expansion into the ultra-luxury expedition market allows for a more diverse offering of deployment opportunities, which will lead to new and exciting itineraries across all seven continents. “With this elite modern fleet, Seabourn continues as the leader

in ultra-luxury travel, providing highly curated and immersive experiences,” she said. “As always, I want to thank you for your partnership and support in driving our business forward. “I look forward to continuing to work with you to deliver unique ‘Seabourn Moments’ for our guests and your clients.”

Silver Endeavour to undergo refit

Silversea Cruises has unveiled details of its allnew suite categories aboard Silver Endeavour during her upcoming refurbishment. Responding to high demand for Endeavour’s most spacious accommodations, Silversea will craft six new upper suites on deck eight, as well as four new suites on deck five, introducing two new suite categories. Among the changes, Silversea will install two Master Suites and four Signature Suites, introducing two new suite categories, replacing the former helicopter hangar amidships.

Nobu to return

Crystal Cruises and Nobu have announced the return of Umi Uma by Japanese celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa. Both Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony will feature Umi Uma, which appeared on the cruise line’s ships prior to its insolvency. Guests will be able to enjoy one complimentary reservation per person, per cruise, for sailings of 11 days or less. For longer sailings, two complimentary reservations will be included. All additional reservations may be confirmed when on board for a nominal charge. “It wouldn’t be Crystal without having one of the most popular restaurants Umi Uma back onboard,” SVP Hotel Operations Bernie Leypold declared.

Viking has partnered with the new national “multisensory experience”, ‘Monet in Paris’. From the team that brought Van Gogh Alive to Australia, Monet in Paris celebrates Claude Monet and the world’s most renowned Impressionist artists. Housed in the purpose-built Le Grand Palais at Northshore Brisbane, the event will make its global debut on 07 Jun, ahead of a national tour. The “super-scale” arts and entertainment experience will see visitors accompany artists such as Monet, Camille Pissarro, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Cezanne, and Edgar Degas. Guests will be taken across 19th century bohemian Paris and the lush countryside of France, as paintings are projected on an enormous scale, illuminating the loose brushwork of the artists. The 250m2, customdesigned marquee features six transformative breakout spaces, bars, and a cafe.

Lupino to be honoured

Ambassador Cruise Line’s new Ambition’s marquee restaurant ‘Lupino’ (pictured) will take pride of place on the ship, as it honours a departed colleague. Ambition will welcome guests on board her maiden voyage on 12 May, offering them the chance to be among the first to enjoy a meal in a restaurant that pays homage to Michelle Lupino, a valued Ambassador colleague who passed away following a short illness in Oct. The restaurant honours its namesake’s memory by creating an onboard dining experience for guests, which recognises her Italian heritage, and her vibrant,

inclusive, and warm-hearted qualities. “I was very close to Michelle, and news of her passing affected me deeply,” Head of Guest Experience Bob McGowan affirmed. “When I was asked by the business to help create a place on our new ship to honour her memory, I wanted it to be a celebration of her life and the many things that made her so special, including her love of socialising with friends. “She was the life and soul of any party or gathering and would always make people feel welcome.”

PORTHOLE A man has been found paddling in circles on Lake George in New South Wales’ Southern Tablelands, in a boat with a sail made from a bed sheet and a broomstick. The man had only one oar and was paddling in circles about two kilometres off the Lake’s south-western shore. A spokesperson for the SES said the man took the vessel onto the Lake earlier in the day in more tranquil weather. “The man started paddling during the day when the weather was calmer and became stranded on the lake as the wind picked up,” they said. The spokesperson said volunteers from the Bungendore SES Unit responded to the incident. “The man was able to safely paddle to shore by using the lights of the SES vehicle as a guide,” they added.
