EDITOR’S NOTES
Crunkatlanta Magazine 2017
Who is Crunkatlanta? I am Eric aka Crunkatlanta & Promotewho.com - The Internet Promoter, the one that is in love with Hip Hop. Follow me on Twitter @crunkatlantaMag . Born and raised in Detroit, MI. Yep, I'm from Seven Mile Rd and GreenfieldWhuddup Doe!! My first inspiration to get involved in the industry was when I found out that nobody heard of any Detroit rappers outside of Detroit ( Michigan). My first gig was with a friend (“T”) that I assisted with promoting Cam’ron back in 1997. From there I found what my purpose was supposed to be. My all time fantasy career was to become a quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons. Once that dream was cut short from not getting the response back from -tryouts and competition over the years. I became hooked on music and brand marketing. http://www.crunkatlanta.com ( Promo page )

CRUNKATLANTA MAGAZINE
CRUNKATLANTA MAGAZINE 1. How long have you been doing what you’re doing and how did you get started in the first place? 1. I’ve been rapping five years but lately been going full throttle & I got started by my boy cutta Checc he makes beats & told me I had the look & voice & the rest was history 2. Who were the first influences on your music and style? 2. There’s too many too name but as of lately I’d say drakeo & the stinc team (free them by the way) shoreline mafia, sobxrbe, 03greedo , Frosty, almighty suspect, afn peso, Mozzy Messy Marv 3. In your opinion who is the most influential and successful artist in your genre today and why? 3. I would say blueface he made it kinda over night & got signed shortly after he started blowing up he went from Onna dead loks to being a house hold name 4. Which famous song or sound production, ultimately describes what you’d like your music productions to sound like? 4. I would say Dj mustard, low the great, Ron Ron the producer, tooraw ,Sammythep HoodrichBako those are a few to name 5. Do you think your music is mostly enjoyed more for the beats or for the lyrical flow and content? 5. I think both because ppl stay quoting my rhymes & using them for captions it be the lines you’d think ppl overlook but then I always hear your beat selection go yay yay 6. Do you make your own beats and write your own lyrics? If yes what software or equipment do you prefer using? If you don’t do any of this by yourself, how do you get this done? 6. I write my own lyrics but as far as beats I mess with a few producers like the hottest & know on the west coast underground scene 7. If you could choose to work with some of today’s established artists or producers, to move your game to the top, with whom would you like to collaborate? 7. Blueface, Nle Choppa, gunna, trippie redd Gucci mane, & drakeo & the stincs once they free them 8. Which latest songs, videos or mixtapes releases are currently available to your fans and where can they be heard or downloaded? 8. My latest is my ep “Diary of a Strip Tuccer & my single test me all of my songs can be heard on SoundCloud for now & available on all music sites in November 9. Which ingredient do you think is most essential in making your sound and style the way it is? 9. The producers I work with & the space I’m in at that time good vibes good weed & good drank those are pretty much the essentials that make my style unique & the way it is 10. What led to your style of delivery and beat-selection?? 10. I was into drill/Trap then got into the new wave west coast but I dabble in all three I think that’s what makes me unique I’m not your typical west coast artist

CRUNKATLANTA MAGAZINE 11. What aspect of the music making process excites you most, and what aspect discourages you the most? 11. Listening to a beat & already coming with a song soon as you hear it that’s what excites me what discourages me is engineers not knowing what they doing & writers blocc & yes man & engineers in the studio 12. How involved are you in the recording, producing, mastering, marketing, and other processes needed to make and sell your music, and do you outsource any part of these processes? 12. I’m very hands on with everything I work with a few marketing companies & promotions companies & have a dude I work with exclusively that mixes & masters my music 13. Do you think the advent of internet and all the new technology has helped your music and independent musicians in general, or do you think it just creates a mass of mediocre “copycats” who flood the web, making it difficult to distinguish yourself? 13. I think the internet is a gift & a curse but good music finds a way to prevail over all the bs that’s getting saturated out there 14. In your experience thus far, what is the best piece of advice in this business you actually followed? And one you didn’t follow, but now know for sure that you should have? 14. The best advice I got was be yourself & stay true to yourself & stay around ppl that want you to succeed & keep the street life & music separated as much as possible & advice I wish I followed was no matter how small the crowd you never know who’s there watching I missed getting a deal now I do any show 15. Being an independent artist, which is the one factor, above all else, that you currently desire most (increased music distribution, better quality production, more media exposure, more club and live performances etc…)? 15. I would like better promotion & more club & live performances & overall more media exposure tbh 16. Where do you distribute and promote your music (Amazon, iTunes, CD Baby, Your own Website, YouTube etc…) and why do you think this channel works best for you? 16. You will be able to purchase my music on all streaming & download sites next month but for now I’m just hitting the streets with my street team & mail orders oh yeah website coming next month also 17. How important do you think video is to your music, and how do you produce your videos? 17. I think visuals are very important because everyone wants to see the face behind the music & feel like there right there with them & get a glimpse of the life there putting out there in their music & videos give you that feeling 18. Is going Platinum or winning a Grammy important to you, and If you were forced to make only one choice, which of the two would you choose and why? 18. That’s a hard decision but I’d go with the Grammy Because a lot of ppl went platinum but not a lot of ppl won Grammys 19. What in your opinion is the biggest barrier an artist like yourself, has to face and overcome, to gain any commercial success? 19. Prolly make a commercial hit & cross over I think it’s just the connections & timing
CRUNKATLANTA MAGAZINE 20. In closing, tell us something about any projects and ideas you have in store or are already working on? 20. I have three colab eps one with Lil Johnnie & my debut album I’m working on title & marketing & things as we speak 21. What got you into music? 21. As I mentioned earlier my boy Cutta Checc bit I’ve always been a music fan 22. What's the most important item in your music collection? 22. Sticc man or big 40 prod by Sammythep 23. How would you describe yourself as an artist? 23. I’m laid bacc cool calm & collective & humble 24. How do you think you differ from other artists? 24. I’m myself & not copying anyone I’m a mixture of all my musical influences but yet nothing like them you could say I’m not your typical west coast artist because I sound like nobody 25. What’s the last track you listened to? 25. First class by blueface & gunna 26. Who do you think the most influential artist in UK Hip-Hop is? 26. Idk but underrated I’d say M Huncho 27. What’s your guilty pleasure? 27. I’m gonna be stitch lip on that lol no comment 28. Hip Hop outside of the USA, Do you have any favorites? 28. Yes I listen to uk drill music I luv shocker, Skendgo x AM & M Huncho 29. What drives you to complete your craft ? 29. The fact when I want to give up ppl keep telling me to keep pushing & don’t stop 30. Flashing money, the women and the cars in videos - Do you think many just dont have creative ideas or is this what they believe fans want to see? 30. I believe it’s a lil bit of both but like Cam’ron said who am I to mess tradition up
