I have a plan of joining an out of the country trip with my friends. They have been planning this since last year but the original plan didn't push through because of some work-related problems. However, this year we are very positive that nothing can stop us from having a good time. It took me a couple of weeks to convince my boss for a month-long leave just to come with my friends. At any rate he would surely allow me since this is my very first leave of absence after 6 years of straight work. In preparation for the trip, I had to buy some travel magazines about our target destination and learn about their culture and the best place to check out. In addition, I also looked for restaurants and shopping centers, bus or train terminals, and hotels. But after reading the travel guide that there are only a few people around that can understand and speak English, I had to look for a local tour guide and interpreter. I suggested to my friends to contact an interpreter before we leave to make sure we will not get lost but they refused. They'd love to find adventure and getting lost is a part of it. They said it could make the trip more memorable. Not an extreme adventurer myself, I was not comfortable with the idea but I don't want to spoil my friends' plan of having an adventure. Without them knowing, I decided to learn Spanish. But how do I learn Spanish? I looked for some ways to learn Spanish. Here is what I found out. 1. Training kits. There are available kits from bookstores that are useful in studying a new language. Instead of going to school, you can learn on your own. The kit includes lessons on a daily basis good for a month, three months or even one year depending on the level that you want to achieve. It includes a manual on how to use the kit, slide shows for better presentation of the lesson and even audio files. 2. If you don't have enough to buy a full training kit, you can download free lesson plans from the internet. Based on the lessons, you can search the web for possible references. With the outline and the right material, you can start your self-study. 3. Workbooks. You can buy a workbook to help you practice Spanish once you already have a basic knowledge. However, there are also available workbooks for beginners. The good thing about this text format is that you can review it as often as needed wherever you are and can be used by your siblings if they feel like learning it too. It is also cheaper than the media files. Since it is a workbook, it would also offer practice drills and fun activities that you can use for your exercises. 4. Online. Search the internet for online tools offering Spanish lessons for free. You can access it anytime, anywhere at you most convenient time. After choosing the online form of learning Spanish, I felt confident that no harm will come our way

even if we get lost during the trip because I have a tool that I can use in case of emergency Spanish language.
