2013 Jamboree Review The 2013 National scout Jamboree at the Summit Bechtel Reserve was a wonderful experience. As a Venturer I was able to white water raft on the lower New River, camp with the international scouts, and participate in many other exciting activities. My curriculum activity was rock climbing, and I had an absolute blast with it. It started at 8:00 am and didn't end until noon. During this I learned how to belay for others and climb on more difficult levels than I had before; rock climbing was probably my favorite activity. While the rain kept some people down, base-camp Foxtrot made the best of it. One day we made a slip- and- slide out of extra plastic and the rain; another day we had a lightning watch party were we treated the lightning like fireworks and admired the natural beauty of it. Some of the other activities I participated in were scuba diving, dragon boats, kayaking, the day of service, etc. I had one of the best times of my life at Jamboree. It has opened many doors for me; if it had not been for Jamboree I would not have become a part of VOA. Written by: Virginia McGhee Area 4 VP-Program
