Advice

HOW TO: SURVIVE HIGH SCHOOL Tyler McGuire and Quinn Wilcox

P

Disclaimer: The following is satire and should be taken light-heartedly.

eople are judgmental, first impressions count! If you’re confident in first impressions people will like you. Always remember, the more you’re liked in high school, the better your life after high school will be!

A

lways stay within your comfort zone. You’ll often hear that trying new things in high school will make your experience better. This is a lie established by teachers to keep you at school as long as possible. The best way to make sure your high school experience is fulfilling is to UNFILL your extra-curricular agenda.

R

espect other people’s boundaries. If you wear 3D glasses to school you’ll quickly realize that everybody has a two-foot bubble around them. These bubbles are called personal boundaries and they aren’t to be entered without explicit permission. If you enter somebody’s personal boundaries without permission you dock your class 50 points and then you won’t win the class cup at the final assembly.

T

ry new things! At first glance you may be thinking that this piece of advice directly contradicts our previously stated advice ‘Always stay inside your comfort zone’ but you’re wrong. Here we’re talking more about food, clothes and that kind of stuff.

Y

our first year is what you make it! This is probably the truest thing about high school. So many people complain about how busy they get during the year and that’s 100 percent their fault. Then again, if you want to do five after school activities on top of your two hours (at least) of homework a night, go for it bro.

This is the first time in recent memory that this will be an opportunity at Wash. It will take place on Monday, Sept. 11 to kick off homecoming week. Each grade level will form their own team and compete against each other to see which class has the toughest group of girls. Female students will be able to sign up after school any day from Monday, Sept. 4 through Friday, Sept. 8. There will be a 5 dollar entry fee per team member with optional additional fees for team clothing. Watch the announcements to hear more about this opportunity.
