The Partners of Wojeski & Company: Dave Wojeski, Matt Lindemann, Angela Colvin & Tom O’Donnell Right now, you are probably getting all of your paperwork and information together to help us prepare your 2010 tax return. While you are gathering this information, you should also start thinking now about your tax strategy for 2011 and beyond. Some year-end tax tips never seem to go out of style; others result from changes to the tax law that may not last. We can help you by advising you of the new tax provisions and working with you to develop your 2011 and future tax plans. There were a significant number of changes effective in 2009 and 2010 and there will likely be additional changes this year. For example, the tax credits for energy efficiency improvements were extended for 2010 but, while still in place for 2011, they are less generous this year. Our goal is to make you aware of the 2010 tax changes for your current tax return and new tax planning opportunities for 2011. Important considerations for immediate savings include: • Federal and NY State credits related to dependents • Deduction for sales tax • The Making Work Pay tax credit • Expensing equipment purchases • Expanded college tuition credits • Direct contribution of IRA funds to charity • Estate tax planning considerations • Home energy saving tax breaks • Planning to minimize the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) •Reduced capital gains rates and related investment strategies •Retirement savings options and minimum distribution requirements • Expanded health care coverage options for adult children In addition to tax planning and compliance, we also provide financial, estate and retirement planning services in the same

WINTER FUN IN NORTH GREENBUSH

Since we are experiencing a winter like we had in the “old days”, I thought it would be fun to relate what kids (and adults) used to do to make the time go by in the days before iPads and Xboxes. There was skating, sleigh riding and tobogganing. In Wynantskill, one of the favorite places to skate was Albia Pond, located behind Jack’s Hamburger Stand. Kids would shovel off the snow to make their own skating rink. Mr. Reichard had a Model T that he once drove out into the ice and it went through into the water. Is it still there? Other skating areas were where the bowling alley is located on Main Avenue, the corner of Williams Road and Bloomingrove Drive, Snyders Lake and as centenarian Harold Rowe remembers, a pond across from the Cumberland Farms. Residents went sleigh riding and skiing down the hills on farms in all parts of the town. Children attending the Little Red Schoolhouse tobogganed on the hill where Hudson Valley Community College is located. Members of the Blooming Grove Reformed Church would, after their church meetings, go sleigh riding down Route 43. In Wynantskill, the Church Street hill provided a great long sled run. Fran Baker remembers that boys built a bobsled (a twelve foot plank with an old wooden sled at each end hooked up to a car steering wheel). They pulled it to the top of the hill. Eight boys and girls would ride the bobsled starting at Diehl’s house at the top of the hill down all the way to Main Avenue. There were few cars to worry about in those days. Riley’s Hill (across from Jack’s Hamburger Stand) was a challenging venue. The hill is steep so it was difficult to drag the sled up the hill, but it gave you a nice long ride to the bottom. Someone would have to watch the road so that the speeding sleds could get across the road without being hit by cars. The hills around Snyders Lake were also great places for sleigh riding. The snowplow men were often nice enough to raise their plows so the kids could continue through the snow. All these outside activities must have been fun, but there is something to be said for being inside with your iPad on a bitterly cold North Greenbush winter day.

EAST GREENBUSH SCRAP REVENUE UPDATE

Letter to the Editor: Many of you recall my Transfer Station questions last May. As it turned out, East Greenbush wasn’t collecting its revenue from Freedman Scrapyard since October 2008. The Town sent its scrap to Freedman and they never sent checks to the Town. July 2, The Troy Record wrote an article on this issue. Freedman blamed the Town and the Town blamed the scrapyard. Both were passing the blame like a hot potato, but nobody was willing to simply correct the problem. Our Town Comptroller worked with the scrapyard, and, on June 24th, was able to collect $4,638.28 in past revenues. That was all we could collect because the Town didn’t have a contract in place with Freedman. No contract means no guarantee of payments, price, nothing. Times have changed; we now collect! I submitted a couple of FOIL requests and obtained the following information: We don’t have contracts with scrapyards, bid packages weren’t sent to scrapyards to bid the work, but now the scrap is done on a month by month basis. Since July 30th, we’ve collected $10,340.30. Total scrap revenue generated since the neglect of revenues was discovered in May—$14,978.58 EXCELLENT! That won’t close our deficit, but it’ll pay for a Councilperson’s approved salary. Thanks to the previous Finance Committee (I was a member and worked on this) for their diligence. Thanks to the Chairman of our Committee (Councilperson Rick Matters)—we helped recoup lost revenues and got the Town on track for collecting. Thanks to our Town Comptroller, Jim Breig. Also, thanks goes to our previous DPW Commissioner (Chris DeFruscio) and our new DPW Commissioner (Dave VanWormer)—both gentlemen continued with the proper recording of tipping receipts. This is a perfect example of residents working WITH the Town to get things done! It can work if our Town’s leaders put politics aside and let residents use their expertise to help get this Town on the road to recovery!! Now....about that $3.5 million Supervisor McCabe said the City of Rensselaer owes East Greenbush ...let’s see what we can do THERE...... ~Ann Taylor, East Greenbush Editors Note: The above article does not necessarily reflect the opinion or endorsement of the Editor or the Staff of THE ADVERTISER, and for all intents and purposes is impossible to verify the truth and veracity of its contents.

THE CHURCH UNITED

In moving from our focus on Jesus’ preaching and teaching throughout Galilee, we’ll move to the ministry of Paul and his first letter to the church in Corinth. It is in 1 Corinthians 3:10-11, 16-23 that Paul expresses concern for the congregation’s divisions and its ultimate impact on the church. In the sermon, “The Church United,” the Reverend Edward L. Van Kampen will place emphasis upon God’s desire for the church to be united on the foundation of Jesus Christ; and that unity in the church is a gift which we must prize and let guide our persons and our ministry. He will point to the foundation of our lives in Jesus Christ as our reason for being everything we are and do to fit into the pattern provided by him for us. The annual Congregational Meeting of the Nassau Reformed was held on Sunday last. The congregation celebrated the seven year service of Patricia Farnan of East Schodack as treasurer, acted in the re-election of Deacon Richard Mooney, and approved the operating budget for 2011. The meeting took place as the church enjoyed discussing business while they shared a luncheon. The Nassau Reformed Church begins worship at 11 a.m. in its chapel on the second level of its Church-School-Building, 43 Church Street (Route 20), one half mile east of the only traffic light in the village. Everyone is welcome to worship. During worship on Sunday, February 13, The Stuyvesant Reformed Church installed and ordained Elizabeth Von den Driesch as Elder and Marilyn Proniske as Deacon, in a service of Laying on of Hands. Both offices of consistory are for three year terms at Stuyvesant Reformed. Fellowship hour, where family and friends shared refreshments and congratulatory greetings to the new officers of Consistory, was held following worship.

EAST GREENBUSH TAX INCREASES

Letter to the Editor: It is no surprise to any of you that your town taxes went up. Do you care? You may or may not. You know your Water and Sewer rates will be increasing as well. Do you care? Perhaps. What you probably DIDN’T know about was one of the biggest reasons you’re facing those increases: Rensselaer. That’s right, your neighbor, whom you love and may even share a zip code with but who owes you dearly. Dearly I say, to the tune of $3.5 million! How do we know? The Supervisor told us so at a meeting of the newly formed Citizens Fiscal Advisory Board! They do the same job as the abolished Finance Committee but with kinder faces and fewer media leaks. But the Supe himself leaked this one, and it’s a biggie. As I hear it told (I was not there) the City of Rensselaer doesn’t get along with the County of Rensselaer, so the Town of East Greenbush doesn’t get paid for water or something. Who pays, then? You do! Did I get that right? And apparently there’s nothing in writing on any of this, it’s just a friendly word of mouth arrangement, like with that scrap yard that didn’t pay us because there was no written contract. As I see it we have 3 choices: We can begin stealing stuff from Rensselaer until we accumulate $3.5 million in assets. I’d like to see us snatch Ft. Crailo and that nice old war memorial near the bridge. We could stick the fort right at the town line guarding Columbia Turnpike and man it with volunteer militia dressed like the guy on the memorial. Since we have a 2:1 manpower advantage and control of the high ground I think we’d be okay. We could also just file the paperwork to annex Rensselaer, but we got enough of our own problems. No, what we probably should do is, like, just get some good lawyers involved, get it in writing, and get the money? Would that work? ~Dwight Jenkins, Rensselaer Editors Note: The above article does not necessarily reflect the opinion or endorsement of the Editor or the Staff of THE ADVERTISER, and for all intents and purposes is impossible to verify the truth and veracity of its contents.

NATIONAL GRID URGES CUSTOMERS TO CLEAR ICE AND SNOW

Build Up, Falling Ice and Snow Can Lead to Damaged Natural Gas Equipment and Elevated Co Levels There may be a lull in the round of storms that plagued the northeast from late December until early February, but dangerous remnants of those storms remain. Many roofs are still laden with ice and snow and the mounds of snow created from plowing, shoveling and snow blowing have shown little sign of melting. This is why National Grid continues to urge everyone to take precautions to avoid the potential hazards these conditions present. Ice and Snow Build Up Poses Risk to Gas Equipment: The build up of ice and snow around or over natural gas meters, regulators, pipes and vents for natural gas appliances can pose a serious safety risk. Ice and snow falling from a roof can damage gas meters or service connections to customers’ homes or businesses, resulting in potential gas leaks. Home and business owners should see that snow and ice build-up is properly removed to prevent damage to this equipment. Anyone detecting the odor of natural gas should call National Grid. If the odor is present inside your building, leave the premises immediately and call from outside or a neighboring building. Snow removal equipment operators should also be aware of the presence of natural gas equipment and avoid coming in contact with meters or piling snow around vents mounted on the outside of buildings. Ice and snow blocking vents have the potential to cause carbon monoxide (CO) to back up into a building, resulting in carbon monoxide poisoning to those inside. National Grid advises natural gas customers to closely inspect areas around and over gas meters, service hook-ups and vents, for ice and snow. Whenever possible, use a broom to remove accumulated ice and snow from around natural gas equipment. Customers are also encouraged to test CO detectors in the home to ensure that they are in working order. Where to Call — Carbon Monoxide If you suspect carbon monoxide is present in your home, go outside immediately and breathe deeply; if symptoms are severe, call 911 immediately. After calling 911, call the following National Grid emergency contact number: In New York: 800-892-2345 Where to call – Natural gas incidents or concerns: In Upstate New York, National Grid Customers should report gas-related incidents or concerns by contacting the company’s Customer Service Contact Center at 800-642-4272.

TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH PLANS A CELEBRATION OF ITS HISTORY

The transforming congregations committee is planning a ‘’Homecoming Sunday for March 6th, at a reception following the 11:00 a.m. service. We need your help, so please start thinking. 1. We have a display of the Trinity time line on display in the hallway. Please add information about your history with TrinityBaptisms, Confirmations, First Communions and date you joined Trinity. We can look through church records if you need help. 2. Dig out photos, programs, and memorabilia of meaningful events you have experienced at Trinity. Jot down memories such as junior or senior choir, youth group events, couples clubs, Knights of Luther and programs like Mother and Daughter banquets and Cantatas and give them to Gretchen Romanelli or leave them in the pastor’s mailbox in the back hall. Original photos will be scanned and returned to you. 3. Suggest names and addresses of former members and friends of Trinity so that we can send invitations by midFebruary. The reception following the service will include light refreshments and fellowship where members and visitors can share their recollections, including a brief presentation on the ‘’rich’’ history of our church dating back over 200 years old. Mark your calendars for this ‘’special event’’, and please call Gretchen Romanelli at 479-3748, Wayne Mizerak at 674-3166 or Pastor Jim Hulihan at 674-5501. Trinity Lutheran Church, West Sand Lake, has a great history and as we look up some of the history and the events that came out as result of this great congregation it is so exciting. We remember, Hazel Baxter, who belonged to Trinity, and she was the lady who started ‘’Doors of Hope’’ or when she started it , it was called ‘’Four Doors Down” as it was four doors down from the corners of West Sand Lake. We are sure many of you remember that time and could also furnish us with some information re that time. Her love for her church and her savior still lives on today with ‘’Doors of Hope’’. So please, come look at the ‘’ trinity time line’’ displayed in the hallway and mark it with events that you remember. Do you hear the beautiful chimes which ring three times a day and also the beautiful cross hanging on the altar...do you remember who they are in memory of??? Trinity has a wonderful history and a very vibrant congregation, and we want to continue to worship and honor our Lord, Jesus Christ, and reach out to our community.

Our highway crew has faced a particularly tough job this winter and has performed admirably. The tough ice conditions combined with weekend and after-hours storms have decimated our highway budget. I’m now hoping for a dry and warm spring season. A recent hearing on financing for the Burden Lake Sewer District recently brought a capacity crowd of supporters to Town Hall. Thank you to all who attended this informational meeting. We anticipate a follow-up hearing on this funding program to be held in May. In the meantime, engineering design work and funding meetings continue. The Town’s contract with Time Warner continues to be negotiated and efforts to extend cable service in Nassau have been tied to this effort. Another draft of the proposed Comprehensive Plan has been presented to the Board. We will be holding workshops and meetings on this project as we move forward. The Board has extended the hearing on proposed Local Law #1 of 2011 until March 10, 2011 at 7:15 p.m. Please visit the Town’s website for more information. At the end of last year, I asked the Board to explore greater energy efficiency and alternative energy for Town facilities. Following this request, the Board directed the Natural Resources Committee to provide recommendations. At our last meeting, the NRC suggested a state energy audit program be pursued as a first step. This project will commence shortly. The Board has also unanimously passed a resolution recognizing the achievements of new Eagle Scout Eric Sanford. I would like to extend my personal congratulations to Eric and his family for a job well done. I’m also pleased to report that Mr. William Held was appointed as a new alternate member of the Zoning Board of Appeals. I would like to publicly thank Bill for his willingness to serve in this way and for his ongoing service to our community. The Board has also directed the development of bid specifications for repairs and construction at Town Hall. This project will utilize grant and reserve funds for construction. This effort is vital to make the building safer and more efficient. We will be sharing more project information with you as we move forward. As always, please be sure to contact me should you require additional information related to any of these efforts. Please also continue to utilize the Town’s website to learn more about the actions of your town government.

NAYSAYERS SHOULD PRESENT SOLUTIONS

Letter to the Editor: In the January 27th issue of the Advertiser, Stuart Nippes accuses the Averill Park Central School District Board of Education and Administration of bullying members of the community and of retaliation against the children of those who speak out against the district. Nothing could be further from the truth. I invite all members of this community to attend a Board of Education meeting and see for yourself. Attend a budget round table discussion and see if you are not treated with respect and your questions answered truthfully. It is ironic, however, that Mr. Nippes complains about bullying when he, himself is a frequent contributor to a hideous, inflammatory internet blog that News 10 called nothing more than “adult cyber bullying.” Perhaps Mr. Nippes should remember the biblical lesson, “let he who is without sin, cast the first stone” It is a difficult time for schools across the state, including Averill Park, and naysayers like Mr. Nippes and those that frequent these anonymous blogs present absolutely no solutions. As Sam Rayburn said, “Any jackass can kick down a barn, but it takes a good carpenter to build one.” Mr. Nippes which one of these is you? ~Mike Dimin Editors Note: The above article does not necessarily reflect the opinion or endorsement of the Editor or the Staff of THE ADVERTISER, and for all intents and purposes is impossible to verify the truth and veracity of its contents.

Rensselaer County Clerk Frank J. Merola reports that the Rensselaer County Clerk’s office has posted the largest revenue surplus to date, returning over $600,000.00 to county coffers for FY 2010. The Clerk’s office reported 2010 revenue of $2,598,155.36 against expenditures of $1,961,277.60 for a surplus totaling $637,000.00. County officials will use this surplus revenue to offset any potential increases in the county tax rate which has risen due to explosive increases in state mandated programs such as Medicaid. Mr. Merola is happy to report that this is the eleventh consecutive six figure surplus returned to the County, an achievement made even more impressive due to the economic downturn that has plagued the nation. “As a former businessman, the bottom line was finishing in the black every year. A company or a government that continually operates at a deficit will not be in business for very long.” Mr. Merola said, “I am extremely pleased that my department is able to return a sizable surplus to the county coffers despite the challenging economic times, and I am confident that we will continue to return surplus revenue for years to come.” In the past six years, the Clerk’s office has returned surplus revenues totaling over $2.2 million dollars to the general fund, a result of aggressive revenue enhancement programs such as the very successful RENEW RENSSELAER passport and motor vehicle program which has resulted in a dramatic increase in the number of passports processed by the Rensselaer County Clerk’s office. Mr. Merola also credits an outstanding DMV department, and an aggressive DMV outreach program that has attracted significant auto dealer business to Rensselaer County and significantly increased DMV revenue. The photo ID program instituted by Mr. Merola in 2006 has proved to be extremely popular, with residents of all Capital Region counties coming to Rensselaer County to purchase a photo ID. “Like many other departments in County government we are doing more with less.” Mr. Merola said, “Our department spending has remained flat since 2008, a result of the tremendous effort by DMV and Record Room staffs, as well as upgrades in equipment that has allowed us to maintain present staff levels. Our courteous and efficient service has given our office the well deserved reputation as the most customer friendly Clerk’s office in the capital region. These next few years may prove challenging as a result of the economic downturn, but I am confident that we will continue to return needed money to the County for the benefit of our taxpayers.”

A PRAYERFUL MOMENT

Letter to the Editor: In response to the February 10th article by Glenn Snyder, A prayerful moment for a peaceful solution to the situation from this concerned local Methodist. ~Nancy W. Davis, Averill Park

MONITORING TRAINING TO BE HELD AT GRAFTON LAKES STATE PARK

Are you interested in helping protect frogs and toads? The North American Amphibian Monitoring Program (NAAMP), an effort coordinated by the U.S. Geological Survey and a network of regional coordinators, will lead a training session for volunteers to collect data on frogs and toads during the spring and summer. This free training will be held on Wednesday, March 2, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at the Shaver Pond Nature Center at 194 Shaver Pond Road in Grafton Lakes State Park. Amphibian populations are declining and long-term monitoring helps scientists determine steps to protect them. Volunteers drive a pre-determined route after sunset 4 times during the spring and summer, and listen for calling frogs and toads. There are 10 stops per route, and volunteers listen for 5 minutes at each stop, record their data online and send it to the state coordinator. Volunteers must be 16 years or older and are required to register for the training with the New York Regional Coordinator, Hudson River Estuary Program, Suzanne Beyeler, PhD at FrogandToad@gw.dec.state.ny.us.

DOES YOUR FAMILY HAVE CABIN FEVER? Have you had enough winter yet? I’d like to thank the DPW for their continued hard work, and remind everyone to hold on to their sense of humor and patience in the face of an unusually tough winter. Like many towns and cities across the nation this year, the problem of where to put all this snow seems to confront us on a daily basis. As much as possible, please try not to shovel your driveway into the streets, as it only ends up in your neighbor’s driveway! I’d like to take this opportunity to share a few thoughts with you. • The first meeting of the Fiscal Advisory Board was very productive, and I have every confidence that it will continue as such. Congratulations on a great start! • Some questions have arisen regarding our town’s relationship with both the city and county of Rensselaer. East Greenbush and the City of Rensselaer share a water contract with the City of Troy. At present, we are in litigation over the future of that contract, and believe that we will be able to come to an agreement that is a positive one. East Greenbush and Rensselaer County continue to enjoy a positive working relationship in the building of a sewer bypass line which will benefit both. Special thanks goes to the Rensselaer County IDA led by Bob Pasinella for their help with that, and a number of potential economic developments. • Jim Breig and I are happy to announce that contract negotiations with the DPW (CSEA) are complete. We believe that residents will be pleased with the results. We are also pleased that negotiations with Council 82, representing Dispatchers and the East Greenbush Police, are moving forward. We expect similar positive results in those negotiations. We appreciate that the unions representing town employees have been cooperative and understanding of the fiscal challenges we face. Special thanks to Jim for his many hours of work in these negotiations. • Thanks to Toni Murphy and the Tax Receiver’s Office for their extra efforts during this busy time. • Finally, we regret to announce that Jim Moore will be leaving his post in the Office of Planning and Zoning. His talent, diligence, and knowledge will be sorely missed by all. We do, however, wish him only the very best in his new position. With hopes for an early Spring—

PHARMACISTS ENCOURAGE AMERICANS TO CONSIDER MEDICINE CABINET CLEANOUT

The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) encourages the public to make an annual medicine cabinet cleanout part of their New Year’s resolutions. Pharmacists recommend patients use this time to properly dispose of all the unused and expired medications that accumulated over the previous year. Because each season brings a host of new illnesses and conditions, it’s easy for medicine cabinets to become cluttered with unused or expired prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, vitamins and herbals that can potentially be harmful to one’s health. Hanging onto old, expired or unused medications can increase the chances of taking the wrong one. Old, expired medications can lose their potency thus reducing or providing no value to the condition being treated and unused medications have the potential to be abused and misused. “As you finalize your resolutions for a happier and healthier New Year, why not add this simple task to your list?” asked Thomas E. Menighan, APhA Executive Vice President and CEO. “A medicine cabinet cleanout is one of the smallest resolutions a person can make for their personal and family’s health. To help protect yourselves and the environment, it just takes a few simple steps to properly store and dispose of medications. And if you have any questions about your medications’ expiration date or potency, talk with your pharmacist.” Tips for Storing and Cleaning Out Your Medicine Cabinet or Other Medication Storage Areas: • Medications should be stored in a secured area that has low humidity, a stable temperature and adequate lighting. • Check the date on everything in your medicine cabinet and dispose of anything that has passed the expiration date. • Properly dispose of anything you have not used in the past 12 months. • Properly dispose of any prescription medications you no longer need. Do not share prescription medications with others. • Properly dispose of medicines no longer in their original container or that can no longer be identified. • Properly dispose of medicines that have changed color, odor or taste. • Do not flush unused or expired medications and do not pour them down a sink or drain.* They should be disposed of properly in the household trash or through your community’s medication disposal program, when available. Follow these easy steps before disposing in the trash: -Pour medication into a sealable plastic bag. If medication is a solid (pill, liquid capsule, etc.), add water to dissolve it. -Add kitty litter, sawdust, coffee grounds (or any material that mixes with the medication and makes it less appealing for pets and children to eat) to the plastic bag. -Seal the plastic bag and put it in the trash. -Remove and destroy ALL identifying personal information (prescription label) from all medication containers before recycling them or throwing them away. *Visit www.smarxtdisposal.net for more information and for a list of medications that should be flushed.

Poestenkill Historical Society will be celebrating Black History Month with a special presentation, author Scott Christianson from Sand Lake, will discuss his book “Freeing Charles’ and the history of the Underground Railroad. Freeing Charles unlocks the story of an escaped slave, Charles Nalle, born 1821 into slavery in Stevensburg, Culpeper County. Scott is an author, journalist, and human rights activist. His interest in American history, particularly slavery, dates back to his boyhood in upstate New York, when he discovered some of his ancestor’s Civil War letters. The story begins on a plantation in Stevensburg, at a time when slavery was a way of life supported by most churches in Culpeper and reaches fever pitch 450 miles away in Troy, NY on the eve of the Civil War. His story tells about Charles’s life as a slave and conveys a sense of how terribly difficult and complicated it was to free a slave before the Great Emancipation. Scott follows Charles Naile’s escape via the underground railroad to Troy, NY. Scott will have copies of his book the night of his program available to purchase. Scott’s presentation will be held at the Poestenkill Town Hall [RT351] on Tuesday, Feb.22nd, at 7:00PM 2011. The public is welcome to come and hear about the adventures of Charles Nalle and the general concept of the underground railroad. Refreshments will be provided by Gail Bentley. Call Pat at 2835223 for directions.

SCHOLAR ATHLETE rebecca drischler by Kelley Haggerty

By Morgan McEvilly Hello all Warrior fans! Another week has gone by and your winter athletes have been playing their best. Congratulations to all cheerleaders and boys basketball players recognized at senior night, Friday, February 11th. The players had a lot of energy for the game on Friday; because of it being senior night, the boys wanted to play the game with all of their power for their last home game. They played Guilderland, but fell short by one basket, 59-57. The day before the varsity team played Mohonasen but lost 43-33. Good teamwork boys. The varsity girls’ basketball team (although they don’t have any seniors this year) still played very well this week. On Thursday, February 10th, the girls faced the Bethlehem Eagles with the final score being Eagles 41, Warriors 33. Nice try girls! They had a game the next day and played on Guilderland’s home court. In the end, the Dutchmen won by one point 3736. Thank you for reading; have a wonderful week. If you have any questions and comments, please feel free to contact me via email. morgan.mcevilly2011@gmail.com

The FunBall league exists for boys and girls (K-6th grade) to have fun learning and playing baseball no matter what their skill level. Normally between 100-140 kids participate each year from many communities in southern Renssealaer County, Northern Columbia County, and a few from Albany County. This season will be the leagues 13th year. There are no strikeouts, walks, scores, league standings, or umpires. Everyone bats until they hit, and players rotate field positions each inning. Players are grouped by grade rather than age (all attempts are made to place friends on the same team). Games (two per week) are played during May and June. Registration is $35.00 per child with forms available at the East Greenbush, Castleton, and Nassau Libraries. Contact Dan Spilman at 477-7665 (funball@earthtones.com) with questions.
