The Schaghticoke Fair is very excited to announce the 2013 fair theme as “Who’s Your Super Hero?” This theme was chosen to represent the many different kinds of people that are super heroes every day. The fair will be introducing “Who’s Your Super Hero?” into the buildings, exhibits, fair entries, and contests. In addition to “Super Hero”, the fair will be initiating for the first time a food drive. Building on the theme, “Souper” the contest design entries can incorporate this spelling and or design elements. We want the students to have fun with the idea and we are looking for some creative input. Lauren Madigan, a student at Hoosic Valley High School was the winner of last year’s “Happy Feet” theme design contest. The contest is open to all currently enrolled high school students throughout Rensselaer County. The selected design will be used on the 2013 fair brochure, t-shirt and for marketing purposes. Each student that submits one design entry will receive a one day fair pass to the 2013 Schaghticoke Fair. In addition to having the winner’s work published, the winner will also receive a one day fair pass with one unlimited ride ticket, a 2013 “Who’s Your Super/Souper Hero?” T-shirt, a certificate of achievement presented during the week of the fair and will also become an honorary judge for future themed design contests. For more information on how to participate, and the elements that are to be included in the design, please contact the art department at your high school or call Mary at the fair office, 753-4411, x13. All entries must be submitted by June 7th.

JOGGING JUNIORS 4H CLUB NEWS Hi! We are the Jogging Juniors 4H Club from Rensselaer County. Our 2012- 2013 year so far has been busy. At our Christmas party, we rode horses at our club’s barn and had lots of fun! Some club members got together and went tubing during their February break. Also in February, we had a farrier clinic where we learned lots of different facts about how we can take care of our horses hooves. In March, we organized a food booth for the Horse Bowl at Tamarac High School for the judges and participants. Members that served food were able to watch the Horse Bowl competition. One of our members, Erin Goodermote, participated in the Horse Bowl. We have discussed plans to raise money to help our club and our 4H community. We also plan to participate in various community service projects during the year. We can’t wait for the show season to start when we ride in Gymkhanas, Club Shows, the Schaghticoke Fair and other youth shows. ~ Submitted by, Maddia Reiter

** SAVE MODIFIED SPORTS AT ALGONQUIN!** Attention Averill Park parents!! Modified sports at Algonquin Middle School are not in the school district budget for the 2013– 2014 school year. YES, we’ve heard this before, but please be aware that the Board of Education and the administration have made it clear that there is no possibility that these programs will be funded with district budget money next year. The only hope of restoring these programs is for concerned parents and coaches to work together and raise the necessary money. This is too important to ignore! Please keep your eyes and ears open as plans are underway to organize and bring sports back to our middle school – please get involved! GO WARRIORS!! ~ The Averill Park Booster Club and friends
