Adopt Adopt A A Pet... Pet... Pet Pet of of the the Week Week Taffy Special Needs! This little kitty was a stray for 2 years and lived out in the elements even in the winter months on someones porch. All though she was fed she was homeless. When some of the family came up to visit for vacation, they really couldn't stand it any longer. They wanted to take her home, so they brought her to the vet for testing and of course she was positive for feline leukemia. She just has been out in the elements too long fending for herself and was exposed. Bottom line she needs a home. They couldn't take her because they have other cats. We couldn't see euthanizing her so when the vet asked us to help we said yes. Now we are asking you ... Can you help give Taffy a home? She is a sweet girl.

THE GOLF TOURNAMENT illustrated above provides funds for assisting residents in the greater Corinth/Lake Luzerne/Hadley area when they experience financial difficulties at any time throughout the year, or as long as funds last. This past year (since last Juneʼs tournament), 25 individuals and/or families have received help with bills of all types, totaling nearly $5,000.00, or nearly $200.00 per situation. The Community Crisis Fund collaborates with Corinthʼs Council of Churches and their “Share the Warmth” program; with Catholic Charities; and other community-based organizations. This collaboration among groups helps extend each oneʼs limited financial resources. Prior to each yearʼs tournament, donations are solicited from area merchants and businesses of all types. We also solicit contributions from golf courses located in the Southern Adirondack region. Without all their generosity in the giving of money, merchandise, etc., (even in these tough economic times) conducting the tournament and operating the Community Crisis Fund would not be possible. Please support the local businesses; they give back more than you realize. Tim Murphy, Chairman Golf Committee

Dearest Friends & Family of Fran Williams, The children of Fran Williams cannot begin to express our gratitude for support over these past weeks. We could never be prepared what happened no matter how it occurred because losing our mother, Our greatest cheer leader… Our best friend… Our Relentless Para Trooper, who always seemed to get back up when you thought she was beaten down, THIS Seems Impossible! She would be by our side forever! So we thought! We took for granted that every day was Christmas with our mother. We didnʼt realize this until, perhaps it was too late. As all your faces filled the Auditorium of CHS and you openly and emotionally poured out what she meant to you and how she profoundly impacted your life we realized that this wasnʼt just us anymore. Each one of us kept looking at each other and knew she was larger than life, but it became more apparent to us that we were the LUCKIEST Kids on Earth! We were raised by a woman that wanted you to Dream beyond all limits and that there was room for everyone, Her love had no Limits and this was with people, animals, music, art, talent and so on…. LIFE was COLORFUL! She taught people how to Live Large and Love Limitless! Life will never be the same for any of us! Many Thanks to Bobby Densmore for conducting a tribute to Fran Williams that celebrated her life with creativity and passion the way she would want to be remembered. Your love for her was evident. Thank you! We would like to THANK John Aldridge for performing the most perfect service, “Curtain Call” to celebrate Franʼs life and her devotion to her Christian faith. She tried every day to wake up and to be devoted to helping others and to serve God. She is testament to a woman who spent a life dedicated to putting others needs before her own. To Norma Winslow and the Cast of the Theatre Guild, Your performance exuded so much flair and love for Fran that she will never be forgotten and we canʼt thank you enough for this special touch! She was everywhere in this!! She Loved each and every one of You. Denise Fay, Your help with the slide show of pictures of our Beautiful Mother added such a special touch of memories. Thank you! You are always there! Bobby Dick, Thank you for being there and playing her favorite music. You were one of her good friends and she always loved to be at your shows. Corinth School, Dr. Starr, Thank you for giving us the space to accommodate a tribute for a Special Lady who had so many friends and family that required this large of a space. This was an amazing offering to us. Thank you!! Carolyn Pechtel, our Rock, not much more needs to be said. She has always been there and has been there throughout…. THANK YOU!! WE LOVE YOU AND ALWAYS WILL!! YOU ARE STUCK WITH US! You went from 3 to 8! For those not mentioned individually, We have countless people who have been at our homes, sent flowers, and assisted in numerous different ways with our grieving, our loss and our heartache.. We are eternally Grateful. We are trying to re-align life as we once knew it. Our Mother was so entrenched in our lives, the way we liked it and the way we wanted it. She was a GREAT Lady! We Laughed with her, at her, and had GREAT Conversations with her. She was so Smart and interesting! Without her, life is different now for us. THANK YOU SO Much for Your support! Our hearts are broken and it will take us time. Alysse, AJ, Bryan, Eric, & Chris

EASY MAINTENANCE TIPS (NAPSI)—Proper vehicle maintenance doesnʼt only mean you and your car can spend many happy years together. It can also mean that when the time comes to sell, you may get a better price. Here are a few things you can do to improve the life of your vehicle and impress prospective buyers: • Get it serviced regularly—Change the oil at specific mileage intervals recommended for your car. • Follow the manufacturerʼs service schedule—Depending on your car, this may include checking the coolant, power steering and brake fluid levels and rotating the tires. • Find and fix open recalls—If your car has been recalled, it probably has a problem that can affect performance and safety. • Keep track of the service history—Prove that your car has been well maintained. The new myCARFAX app keeps track of your service history and information about recalls right on your smartphone. Visit www.mycarfax.com to learn more about maintaining the value and performance of your car.

DONĘźT LIKE PRESSURE? YOUR TIRES DO (NAPSI)—Investing a little time and effort to make sure your tires are road worthy can pay dividends when it comes to safety. Experts say the first step is to make sure your tires are properly inflated. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, underinflated tires contribute to more than 600 fatalities and 33,000 injuries each year. Simply checking your tire pressure can help you stay safe during your next trip. To get the most from your tires this summer, here are some maintenance tips from the worldĘźs largest tire and wheel retailer-Discount Tire: • Get Pressure Right—Low tire pressure can decrease fuel economy. Tires may lose up to one pound per square inch per month. The specific inflation pressure number can be found on the vehicle placard located on the driverĘźs side doorpost, glove box door, fuel door or in the ownerĘźs manual. Custom tires and wheels may change standard air pressure requirements, so if you customize, have a pro check them out before you go. • DonĘźt Overload Vehicle—Overloading decreases fuel economy due to increased wind drag and cargo weight. Handling, control and braking are also negatively impacted. • Rotate Before You Go—Regular rotation helps achieve uniform tire wear and improves road performance. Tires rotated every 6,000 to 8,000 miles have longer life and help to maximize your tire investment. • Straighten Up—Proper wheel alignment provides safe, predictable vehicle control and helps tires wear evenly and last longer. • Bald IsnĘźt Beautiful—Lack of tread affects the tireĘźs ability to grip the road. Make sure tires donĘźt have uneven wear, high or low spots or unusually smooth areas that can decrease traction and increase the risk of road accidents. A Five-Minute Fix Checking tire pressure and tread is easy and can pay dividends when it comes to fuel economy and handling. DonĘźt go by appearances. Use a tire gauge to check since a tire can be 50 percent underinflated but still not appear flat. Make it a habit to check tire pressure every month and always before a long trip. Use the vehicle manufacturerĘźs recommended tire pressure. Additionally, check tire tread depth by using the “penny test.â€? Insert Abe LincolnĘźs head upside down into the tread. If you see his entire head, itĘźs time to replace the tire. To learn more about tire safety, visit www.discounttire.com.
