Children’s Chorus SARATOGA – The Saratoga Children’s Chorus will join with Capital Region organist and composer Alfred V. Fedak to perform a diverse program at Saratoga Springs United Methodist Church on Friday, April 8, at 7:30pm. Mr. Fedak will perform works of Bach, Bruhns, and Andriessen, as well as his own Lenten/Easter Suite. The concert will be performed to honor the late Gwen Pykett, formerly a co-director of the Children’s Chorus and a resident of Saratoga Springs from 1991 to 2002. SARATOGA SPRINGS – Saratoga Hospital has named Marlana Putman, a cashier in Nutritional Services, as its Service Star of the Year for 2010. Marlana, a Saratoga Springs resident, has been a dedicated employee since 2003. Marlana was selected from the twelve employees who were Service Stars in 2010. Other monthly Service Stars were Ann Bates, Don Clary, Karen Donworth, Joyce Eichorst, Debra Daniele, Lisa Foster, Jeremy Heisey, Erna Hembling, Rabin Kayastha, Jeanne Leonard, and Deb Price. Saratoga Hospital Volunteer Guild Offers Scholarships SARATOGA COUNTY – The Saratoga Hospital Volunteer Guild is again offering three $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors in Saratoga County who are planning to enter a college curriculum in a medical field including, but not limited to, pre-med, nursing, bio-medical research, pharmacy, medical technology, X-ray technology, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, physician’s assistant, mental health, occupational therapy, and health care management. The senior must be entering a college program in a medical field in September 2011, have a cumulative high school average of 80% or higher, and have a record of interest and involvement in community service. Application forms are available at the Guidance Office of all area high schools or from the Volunteer Office of Saratoga Hospital 583-8447. The application deadline is April 5, 2011. (A)

7th Annual Saratoga Lions Duathloon SARATOGA SPRINGS – The Saratoga Springs Lions Club Foundation, Inc. is hosting the 7th Annual Saratoga Lions Duathlon on Sunday, May 29, on the Skidmore College Campus in Saratoga Springs. Participants will tackle a 5k run, followed by a 20-mile bike ride, ending with another 5k run. Race start time is scheduled for 8am. Participants can be individual, two person teams or three person teams. Area businesses can also participate with a three-person team in the corporate challenge category. SARATOGA COUNTY – In an effort to acknowledge the sacrifices of our veterans who have given so much for home and country‚ the Offices of the Board of Supervisors‚ the County Clerk and the Veteran’s Services Agency have created the “Return the FAVOR” Saratoga County Veterans’ Discount Program. SO. GLENS FALLS – The Parents in Support of the Arts (SPSA) is helping the South Glens Falls Music Department purchase a baby grand piano for the newly renovated High School Auditorium. We have started an “Adopt a Seat” program to let community members “adopt” an auditorium seat for $50 per individual or family and $100 for local businesses and associations.
