Bulletin Board SOUL REBEL PERFORMANCE TROUPE PRESENTS CAMP LOGAN Soul Rebel Performance Troupe Inc. (SRPT) presents a dramatic presentation of CAMP LOGAN on Fri., Feb 22, at 7:30pm; and Sat., Feb. 23, at 2pm. This drama is based on the 1917 courts martial and ensuing executions of 19 black soldiers of the 24th Infantry, United States Army, Houston Texas. Written by Celeste Bedford-Walker and directed/produced by Jean-Remy Monnay. Camp Logan received the NAACP award for best play in 1994. Sponsored by Price Chopper. CORNELL COOPERATIVE EXTENSION HOLDS “SPRING GARDEN DAY” Spring starts March 2 with “Spring Garden Day,” a program of gardening classes and fun held at Tamarac High School in Brunswick. Special speaker Barbara Pierson from White Flower Farm in Litchfield, CT, will speak on “Perennial Combinations,” keynote speaker, author and photographer Linda Rutenberg will show us “The Garden At Night: A Photographic Journey,” and there are 10 more classes to choose from. A plant sale, garden book sale, Pick-A-Prize Auction,

and fabulous door prizes are other highlights. Participants also receive a delicious homemade lunch featuring soups, Stromboli and desserts. NYS DEFENSIVE DRIVING CLASS On Saturday, February 16th, 2013, from 9AM to 3PM there will be a New York State approved Defensive Driving Class to Benefit the Boy’s & Girls Club of Southern Rensselaer County. Save 10% on your base auto insurance for the next three years & be eligible to receive up to 4 points off your driving record according to New York State Department of Motor Vehicle guidelines. ALL ARE WELCOME AT SAINT MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL PARISH Saint Michael the Archangel Parish is a faith based community of Catholic Christians in North Greenbush. NASSAU SYNAGOGUE ANNOUNCES ANNUAL PURIM MEGILLAH READING The Nassau Synagogue, located on Route 20 in Nassau, New York has announced that their Annual Purim Megillah Reading will be held on Saturday, February 23, at 6:30 p.m. The Book of Esther will be chanted by Fred Rheingold, 4th-7th grade teacher of the Nassau Synagogue Hebrew School and David Fruchter who is a congregant. Come dressed in Purim costume regalia and be pre-

In those verses, the Israelites, as they become settled in their new land, are called by God to offer the first fruits of their harvest as a sign of their dependence on God and their gratitude for all with which they have blessed. In the sermon, titled, “Remember Our Identity! Celebrate It,” the Reverend Edward L Van Kampen will speak about how we gain a faithful perspective on our lives when we remember the history of God’s gracious dealings with us and the world. SL KIWANIS PASTA DINNER FUNDRAISER SECOND SATURDAY OF EACH MONTH The Sand Lake Kiwanis Club wants to invite all to participate in a Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser on the second Saturday of each month from 4PM to 7PM at the West Sand Lake Fire House on Rt. 43. Cost per meal is $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 5 to 10 years old, kids under 5 are free. Meals will consist of spaghetti, meatballs, salad, bread, dessert & beverages. Immediately following dinner is the ever-popular auction, which is noted for great deals on high-quality items and gift certificates donated by the great local businesses. LENTEN SUPPERS AT TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH Pastor Jim Hulihan wants to hold a discussion on Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s “Life Together” during our mid-week Lenten Soup Suppers. This is a classic exploration of “Faith in community” by a young Pastor/Theologian who gives an account of fellowship in an underground seminary during the Nazi years in Germany. The residence provides independent living apartments and skilled nursing care for the elderly poor of the Capital Region. The Melvin Roads Post 1231 SONS will once again hold their Fish Fry Friday’s beginning February 15th. This Lenten tradition will continue up to and including Friday, March 29th. CORNED BEEF AND CABBAGE DINNER The Sal Squadron #1683 from the Gerald O’Neil Post located at 836 Broadway in Rensselaer will sponsor a Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner on Sunday, February 24th, from 1PM to 6PM. Eat-in or take-out. Cost is $9 per person and $8 for seniors. 465-3312.

ROAST TURKEY DINNER On Sunday, February 17th, between noon and 1:30PM, St David’s Episcopal Church will be serving

a Roast Turkey Dinner. Included with the turkey will be a salad, mashed potatoes, dressing, vegetable and pie for dessert. St. David’s is located at 2647 Brookview Road, Castleton. HEARTY ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT BREAKFAST Enjoy a Hearty All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast of regular or blueberry pancakes, eggs (any way you want), sausage, homefries, French toast, regular toast, and coffee cooked just for you by the Northern Rensselaer County Knights of Columbus. Join us at the Hoosic Valley Rescue Squad on Route 40 in Schaghticoke on Sunday, February 24th, from 7:30 to 11:00 AM. Cost for adults is $7, children 6 to 12 is $3, and children 5 and under eat free. Proceeds will go to Cub Scout Pack 680, shaping tomorrow’s leaders. FREE DINNER On Friday, March 1, 2013, the Pawling Avenue United Methodist Church will host a free dinner. The menu will be soup, sandwiches, brownies and beverage. It will be held at the church at 520 Pawling Avenue. Dinner will be served from 5PM until 6:30PM. There is no charge for this dinner. Come and enjoy good food and fellowship. Everyone is invited.
