Bulletin Board Benefit Garden Tour In Woodstock CAPITAL REGION - The Woodstock Arts Board will host its annual benefit tour of beautiful local gardens on Saturday, June 22 (rain date, Sunday, June 23). Proceeds help support the Woodstock Shakespeare Festival, this summer presenting Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale and Alice in Wonderland. Auditions for Fall Production SARATOGA SPRINGS - Saratoga Children’s Theatre is pleased to announce that it will be holding auditions for its fall production, Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. Tony Rivera will be the Director and Rosie Spring will be the Choreographer. The audition is open to children ages 9-14 and will be held on Saturday, June 15th from 9am12noon at the Saratoga Senior Center, 5 Williams St, Saratoga Springs. Sign in will start at 8:45am. Callbacks will be June 17th from 5-7pm at the same location. Rehearsals will begin September 12, 2013. The production will be performed on October 25 & 26 , 2013. Sundae On The Farm 2013 SARATOGA SPRINGS - Saratoga County’s 18th Annual “Sundae on the Farm” will be held on Sunday, June 16, 2013 at McMahon Thoroughbreds, home of Funny Cide, the 2003 Kentucky Derby winner, located at 180 Fitch Road in the Town of Saratoga. A Juried Art Show and Benefit Reception SARATOGA SPRINGS - The Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation along with Honorary Co-Chairs Mayor Scott and Julie Johnson are presenting 2013 TRASK, a juried art show and fundraiser to benefit the Foundation’s four-year campaign to restore the Spirit of Life sculpture & Spencer Trask Memorial in Congress Park. Bulletin Board Deceased Veterans Ceremony BALLSTON SPA – The Saratoga County Board of Supervisors and the Saratoga County Veterans Service Agency will be holding their monthly deceased Veterans ceremony on June 18th at 2:30pm at the County Building in Ballston Spa. This month’s honoree is Robert A. Fusco Sr., a U.S. Army Veteran from the Town of Waterford.

Summer Enrichment Programs SARATOGA SPRINGS – The WSWHE BOCES Gifted and Talented Resource Center is offering a variety of enrichment programs to keep children learning during summer vacation. Programs are available in Culinary Arts; Chinese Language and Culture; and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). One- and two-week sessions are available and will run Monday through Friday from July 8-26, 2013. In Culinary Camp, young chefs will learn professional cooking techniques and kitchen management. Chef Instructor Bruce Hoffmann and Chef Instructor Maureen Clancy will use fresh Farmers Market fruits and veggies for the summer camp to promote healthy eating. Students with food allergies are welcome to attend; classes will prepare recipes for people who are gluten-free, vegetarian, and lactose intolerant. Among the items prepared will be traditional homemade specialties as well as international favorites. The course will also focus on sanitation, basic cooking methods, and having fun with food. Homelessness Can Affect All Ages SARATOGA SPRINGS - SOS continues to expand its services to meet the needs of youth at risk of homelessness by partnering with CAPTAIN Youth & Family Services. The Street Outreach Project connects with youth “on the streets” and provides them with support, safety and basic necessities. Genealogy and Local History SARATOGA SPRINGS - Heritage Hunters of Saratoga County will meet on Saturday, June 15, at 1pm at the Town of Saratoga Town Hall, corner of Rt. 4 and Rt. 29 in Schuylerville. Bill Greer, a trustee of the New Netherland Institute, will present, “Sex and the City: The Early Years”. Bill will talk about the bawdy world of Dutch New York from 1624 to 1664 through anecdotes of real people and events. He will discuss the art, literature and folklore of the era and how this culture engendered an independent streak that fueled a rebellion of the common people against their rulers. This conflict, many historians argue, laid the foundation for the pluralistic, freedom-loving society that America became. Public is welcome. For information call 587-2978

Curtis Lumber To Host 4th Annual PetAPalooza Pet Adoption Day! CAPITAL REGION - Curtis Lumber will host their 4th annual pet adoption day Saturday, June 15, 2013 across select retail stores located throughout New York State and Vermont. The event is called “Curtis Lumber PetAPalooza.” Each store will host multiple pet adoptions/rescue groups. Many adoption rates will also be lowered for the day! Hundreds of animals from over 80 (to date) shelters and rescue groups will be available for adoption including cats, dogs, rabbits, birds and horses. There will also be pet service providers in attendance such as local veterinarians, groomers, pet sitters and trainers offering valuable discounts off their services. All adopters will receive a free gift courtesy of Curtis Lumber. Other events include dog house and 50/50 raffles, food, live radio broadcasts and more. Summer Bicycle Tours at Saratoga National Historical Park STILLWATER - A series of free, early evening, ranger-guided 5-mile bike tours of Saratoga Battlefield. WHEN: Seven Wednesday evenings during the summer—June 5 and 19; July 3, 17, and 31; August 14 and 28, from 6 PM to 8 PM. WHERE: Saratoga National Historical Park (the Battlefield), located between US Route 4 and State Route 32, Stillwater, NY. Meet in the parking lot. WHO: Any visitors interested in scenic views of the historic grounds, accompanied by knowledgeable staff and volunteer guides with unique stories of the park. Whipple City Festival GREENWICH - Come join us in Greenwich June 14 and 15 for the Whipple City Festival. This year, the Whipple City Festival will feature living history demonstrations in Dorr Park. On Saturday June 15th there will be three regiments reenacting three different periods in history. Also in Dorr Park will be The Greenwich Town Historian and the Willard Mountain DAR and Northstar organization with information booths and items for sale. Saratoga Arts is Now Accepting Registrations for our 2013 Summer Camp Programs SARATOGA SPRINGS - Saratoga Arts offers 4, unique art and theater camps for children ages 5-15, between July 8 - August 20. Nearly one-third of adults living in Saratoga, Washington and Warren counties are family caregivers who could be at risk for heart disease, diabetes, depression and various other physical and emotional maladies as a result of caregiver distress, a potentially dangerous condition brought on by the pressures of caring for a senior loved one. Recycling Fundraiser to Benefit New Playground SARATOGA SPRINGS – Recycling fundraiser helps raise money towards a much-needed new playground at Geyser Road Elementary in Saratoga Springs. Students/members of Daisy troop #3134 have been earning free cash by participating in the FundingFactory Recycling Program. They collect empty cartridges, cell phones, small electronics, and laptops from the community and send the waste products to FundingFactory in exchange for their choice of technology and recreation products, or even cash. Companies interested in demonstrating a commitment to education and the environment can participate free of charge in the FundingFactory Business Support Program. FundingFactory will send each supporting business FREE prepaid shipping labels for the return of collected cartridges, cell phones, small electronics, and laptops.
