Exhibit Grand Opening & Community Dance NEW SALEM – Sunday, April 14, 2013 from 1-4pm, the New Scotland Historical Association will have the grand opening of the new exhibit: “Entertainment Before 1950 and TV,” to be held at the Wyman Osterhout Community Center, New Salem, NY. Along with viewing the new exhibit, come enjoy a community dance from 1:15-2:45pm with caller Paul Rosenberg and band “Fire Flies.” Enjoy a tradition of community dancing and music handed down from generation to generation. The toe-tapping music consists of reels, jigs, polkas, hornpipes and waltzes. Instruments include fiddle, banjo, mandolin, flute, pennywhistle, guitar, and recorder. Everyone can participate– from ages 2 to 102 (especially those who have not danced before) -- in easy-to-learn American barn dance favorites. If you don’t wish to participate, it’s also fun to

Autism Information Fair & Carnival CAPITAL REGION – April is Autism Awareness Month. To assist parents, families & caregivers of people on the autism spectrum in their search for resources the 2nd Annual Autism Information Fair and Carnival, sponsored by Wilcenski & Pleat, LLC, will be held on Sunday, April 21 at the Skidmore College Intramural Gymnasium from noon to 3pm. “The Animal in Me” Poetry Project CLIFTON PARK – Friends of the Clifton Park/Halfmoon Library in partnership with Shatekon Elementary School is the Recipient of a 2013 Saratoga Arts Council Grant in which fourth grade students at Shatekon Elementary School will participate in “The Animal in Me,” poetry project with poet Jacqueline Sweeney the week of April 20 – May 3. Following the residency, “The Animal in Me” a poetry slam featuring Shatekon’s fourth grade students will take place at the Clifton Park – Halfmoon Public Library, 475 Moe Road, Clifton Park, on May 31 from 11am-12:15pm. Please join us for an exciting morning of poetry. Students will share their original poems and 3D masks unleashing the animal within each of them. Marchione Announces First Two Stops on “Listening Tour” SCHUYLERVILLE/TROY – Listening Tour kicks-off Wednesday, April 10, 7pm at Saratoga Town Hall (12 Spring St., Schuylerville), continues on Thursday, April 25, 7pm at Brunswick Town Hall (336 Town Office Rd., Troy). Turkey Hunting Safety Seminar for Youth & Mentors WARREN COUNTY – Turkey hunting can be one of the most enjoyable hunting adventures; but it can also be one of the most challenging. Safety should be the number one concern of all hunters. Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Warren County 4-H program and the National Wild Turkey Federation JAKE’s program are joining forces to offer a program to assist youth and mentors with information about safety and successful turkey hunting. This program will be presented on Friday, April 5 from 11am-4pm at the Chestertown Sportsman Club, Chestertown. Youth and their hunting mentors are encouraged to attend this program together. Youth must be 11 years or older, weigh 80 lbs. or more, and must be enrolled in 4-H by the day of the class. The cost for the program is $10 and includes enrollment in 4-H until September 31, 2013.
