Sen. Marchione Welcomes NYS Dairy Princess Courtney Luskin CAPITAL DISTRICT – New York State Senator Kathleen A. Marchione (R,C-Halfmoon) recently welcomed the 2013-2014 New York State Dairy Princess Courtney Luskin to the State Capitol and honored her achievements with an official resolution passed during yesterday’s Session. Ms. Luskin is a senior at Hoosic Valley High School and also is an active member of 4-H and the National Honor Society. On February 19, she was crowned the 50th NYS Dairy Princess at the annual coronation in Syracuse. Having served as the Rensselaer County Dairy Princess since the Spring of 2012, Ms. Luskin will devote an additional year promoting New York’s award-winning milk and other dairy products with the American Dairy Association and Dairy Council, Inc. Halfmoon Paper Shredding HALFMOON – The Town of Halfmoon and 3N Document Destruction will host a town paper shredding day for the Town residents on Sat., May 4, 9-11am, at the Town of Halfmoon Transfer Station, located at 322 Rte. 146. Residents are encouraged to bring sensitive documents they wish to have shredded. There is no cost for shredding, although residents are asked to bring at least one canned good for donation to a local food pantry for each box or bag of documents they bring in to be shredded. Patrons may register online only, for the Spring 2013 session of Bouncing Babies, Wonderful Walkers and Parent/Child, on a first-come, first-served basis, through the Library’s calendar of events program. Priority is given to Library Tax District residents: either child/family or caregiver accompanying child to program. After 48 hours non-library district residents can fill any remaining slots. Knights Busy at Corpus Christi ROUND LAKE – The Knights of Columbus Council #10869 are having a very busy month of March. Schuylerville Robotics Takes Home Two Rookie Awards SCHUYLERVILLE – Thanks to NASA and the generosity of a few local businesses, the Schuylerville Robotics Team was able to finance its recent trip to Rochester to participate in the Finger Lakes Regional First Robotics Competition. This rookie team did an outstanding job as they battled against many veteran teams. After nine matches, with a final record of 4 - 5 - 0, this rookie team placed 29th out of a field of 49 teams and brought home two prestigious awards: Highest Rookie Seed Award and Rookie Inspiration Award. The team would also like to thank their friends from Team 250 out of Colonie, New York, for their guidance and on-going support. We could not have succeeded without you! (P)
