Friends of the NRA Donates $3696 of Equipment to Warren County 4-H Shooting Sports WARREN COUNTY - Thanks to the efforts of the local Chapter of Friends of the NRA, Warren County 4-H Shooting Sports was able to receive $3696 in equipment. The equipment will be used to support 4-H shotgun, air rifle, and air pistol programs scheduled throughout the year. The shotgun program is being offered in June and has only a few open spots left. Membership in 4-H is required to participate in the program and youth must have reached the age of 11 and weigh 80 lbs. The 4-H Shooting Sports programs benefits from several local banquets, including the Patrick Henry Friends of the NRA which was held on April 26th at Fort William Henry and from the NYS 4-H Shooting Sports banquet, which was also held at Fort William Henry this year on April 20th. If you would like more information about Warren County 4-H Shooting Sports or any program that 4-H offers in Warren County, please call 668-4881 and speak with John Bowe.

Annual Bowl for Epilepsy

CAPITAL REGION - The Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York’s 22nd Annual Bowl for Epilepsy will be held on Monday, June 3rd at Sunset Recreation, 1160 Central Avenue, Albany. Pre-registration is required. This is a great way to have fun and raise money for the Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York! There is no fee to register; however, bowlers are asked to collect pledges prior to the event. Participants will enjoy pizza and refreshments at 5:00 p.m., and the bowling fun will begin at 6:00 p.m. A Bowl for Epilepsy tshirt will be given to each bowler who raises $50.00 or more; raise $100 and receive a Bowl for Epilepsy t-shirt and water bottle. Trophies will be awarded to the top fundraisers in the following categories: Individual, Friends & Family Team, and Company Team. Register by May 24th to reserve your lane. The kitchen is arguably the most-used room in the house during waking hours. Having a kitchen that is laid out in an efficient manner can improve productivity and make for a more enjoyable experience. Designers often stress having an effective work triangle in the kitchen. The phrase "kitchen work triangle" started with the Building Research Council (formerly the Small Homes Council) at the University of Illinois. The idea came from studies of space usage and the search for efficient kitchen designs. What the triangle essentially means is positioning three key items of the kitchen for efficiency. The stove, sink and refrigerator represent the three main points of the triangle. Having these items spaced accordingly can make work easier. Having them too close together can create a cramped, ineffective room. The placement of the triangle points alone does not make a successful layout. According to the University of Missouri Extension, the triangle space should also be measured accordingly. Put 4 to 7 feet between the refrigerator and sink, 4 to 6 feet between the sink and stove and 4 to 9 feet between the stove and refrigerator, with the ideal size resulting in a work triangle where the three sides total between 15 and 22 feet.
