In search of natural treasure – from curious caves to conical hilltops
The South China Sea is the setting for this cruise from Singapore to Manila. After two relaxing days on the ocean, our first port of call is the small town of Muara in the Sultanate of Brunei. We continue up the coast of north Borneo, heading to Malaysia’s Kota Kinabalu, which reveals a thriving arts and music scene. Continuing north, we reach the Philippines at Palawan, calling in at Puerto Princesa, famous for its spectacular limestone caves and underground river, and Coron, a popular destination with divers. We continue onwards to Boracay island, renowned for its clear waters and palm-fringed beaches, before heading to spirited Manila, where we spend a night before disembarking.
Buddhist temples and gleaming towers: where old meets new
Explore the Philippines, China and South Korea, on an epic voyage departing Manila, a heady mix of past, present and future. First, we make a short hop north to Subic Bay, where there is sunken treasure to explore, before spending a relaxing day at sea sailing to the bright lights of Hong Kong. Two nights will leave you wanting more of this endlessly fascinating metropolis, but we are bound for Kaoshiung, the busiest harbor in Taiwan, Keelung, the gateway to the capital, Taipei, and the Japanese island of Ishigaki-jima, with its Buddhist temples. Our final ports of call are in South Korea – the island of Jeju and the city of Yeosu, which is renowned for its cuisine – before we disembark at Incheon near Seoul.

Hop around islands and hang out with orangutans
Casting off from Bali, we sail north along the Makassar Strait to Sandakan, gateway to picture-perfect beaches, turquoise seas, and a must-visit – the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Puerto Princesa in Palawan is the best place to start hopping around the Philippine’s emerald islands, as we make our way to the white sands of Boracay. Then we spend two days in buzzing Manila, Southeast Asia’s second-largest city. Get plenty of rest during the following day crossing the South China Sea because our last stop is Hong Kong, where you will stay overnight. That allows plenty of time to shop ‘til you drop, marvel at the futuristic skyline from the Pearl River, and get pleasantly lost among the city’s labyrinthine markets.
Visit two great nations just in time for cherry blossom season
The time is just right to head for South Korea and Japan to see the hopelessly romantic scene of clouds of cherry blossom. Embarking at Incheon near Seoul, we spend a relaxing day at sea before reaching Busan, much loved by Koreans for its setting and magnificent temple of Beomeo-sa. Heading south to Japan, our next port of call is Fukuoka, renowned for its seafood. We sail on to Nagasaki, dramatically rebuilt after World War II, and then continue south to Kagoshima, across the bay from Sakurajima volcano. After calling in at Beppu, we reach Kochi, with its beach and wellpreserved Shogun castle. Our final ports are Kobe and Nagoya before we finish the journey in dynamic Tokyo.
