December DCM A short DCM was held on December 28th before we boarded the bus to head towards the Phoenix Decorating center for our annual Rose Floats service event. During this DCM, a recap on Fall Rally was conducted as total funds raised was revealed. For our December blanks of the month. MOTM was awarded to Karla Ponce and Odina Cabrera from University High School and OOTM was awarded to Alexandra Aladham from Palisades High School. Future events were then announced!

Rose Floats Decoration Rose floats is always an exciting event and a favorite from many Crystal members as it is a night where everyone from different divisions can volunteer together. Rose floats is one of the best events to volunteer and meet new people. Although duties may be initially limited, at the end of the night, all of us were happy to be able contribute to the floats. Some jobs included trimming flowers, cutting stems, filling vials with water, and directly working on the floats. Ultimately, it was a wholesome night filled with laughter and determination to serve.

Service Project Highlight Fairfax HS: Barnes N’ Noble Gift Wrapping Fundraiser Fairfax HS KIWIN'S members participated in Barnes and Nobles' Annual Christmas Gift Wrapping. During the multiple days of the whole wrapping event, members were volunteered for dates that they would come and gift wrap. Customers of Barnes and Nobles were offered complimentary gift wrapping by KIWIN'S members. Books, toys, board games, etc. were neatly wrapped; many members like to see the smile on the customers' faces. They also said that it was great that they got to say 'Merry Christmas' to the people who brought gifts to be wrapped. Donations for the Governor's project, Make A Wish, were collected (So this event was a combined fundraiser and service event) Through the members' efforts and hard work, Fairfax KIWIN'S was able to fundraise over $800 for the cause.

Service Project Highlight Community Boutique On December 10, several Pali KIWIN’S members joined Santa Monica Kiwanis for their annual Community Boutique. Several different organizations, including Heal the Bay, Westside Children’s Center, and many more, came together to advertise their service projects and raise money. The KIWIN’S members were able to help these organizations by showing all guests around and overseeing their transactions for each donation. Hopefully, we will be able to attend next year as well!
