EDITOR'S NOTE

Corporate Social Responsibility News South Africa (CSRNEWSSA) is South Africa’s leading Corporate Social Responsibility news, media and publishing firm. We help government, corporates, consultants, NPOs and NGOs to reach their target markets through the provision of appropriate, targeted development news. Our mission is to improve the practice of CSI in a changing South Africa. This mission influences how we approach development, what we do, and what we prioritise. We recently developed an exciting, progressive working model to inform our ten-year focus. In a nutshell: We are South Africa’s leading social responsibility content creators. We use national and international leaders and development practitioners to work with us in breaking down barriers to reveal burning social issues, or what we call industry pains. We create dialogue on pertinent issues in a bid to drive industry change.

We are a for-profit company with giving at our core. What does this mean? Our recent ten-year business strategy is driven by development, giving, scalability and sustainability. The aim of our new strategy is not to chase profit while trying to stay ethical and law-abiding; rather, our goal is to pursue purpose through creating products, platforms, projects and campaigns that offer opportunities to other ambitious small business owners so that they, too, can serve our South African development community. We use profit as the catalyst to leverage partnerships with corporate business, government entities and non-profit organisations. We sincerely look forward to working with you this year! Thanks & Kudos SIMPHIWE MTETWA EDITOR-IN-CHIEF

We give 10% net after profit to a programme called GAP. Gap (from gap-year) gives opportunities to matriculants who take a gap-year to work in local NGOs for a year, with basic stipends paid by CSRNEWSSA. When you refer a customer or client to use one of our services and they purchase to a value of over ZAR10 000, we give the referrer a 10% finder’s fee.

FUNDERS CONFERENCE

FRIDAYS @ FIVE

WOMEN IN CSI SUMMIT

The Great Funders' Conference (23 - 25 September 2020) is the largest conference of its kind in South Africa, bringing corporates and NGOs together for three days of information sharing, idea generating and critical appraisal of issues pertaining to social development and funding.

Some people are concerned about the elephant in the room. We’re concerned about the shark in the room. Fridays @ 5 looks at hardhitting topics in CSI that most dare not confront.

'Women don't need a voice, they have a voice - they just have to feel empowered enough to use it.' - Duchess Meghan Markle Winsor (Prince Harry's wife)

The conference enables corporates to share their funding processes and parameters with NGOs, and is attended by senior executives, NGOs, members of government and leading decision makers.

Held bi-annually, our first topic examines racism and discrimination in CSI. We work with industry practitioners to discuss issues in CSI that rarely get addressed. Attended by corporates, CSI practitioners, academics and industry.

The Women in CSI Summit looks at three aspects of development in CSI; the voices of women shaping development in South Africa, industry transformation, and the situations that enable women to use their voices most effectively. The future of development requires an acknowledgement of the shared value of all voices and the extending of common ground.
