WOMEN’S BASKETBALL CSU embarks on its busiest week of the season with

three games, beginning with a 7:00 p.m. home contest against UIC on Monday. The Vikings then head to Green Bay at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday (Feb. 14) and Milwaukee on Saturday (Feb. 16) at 2:00 p.m. The Vikings are 11-11 overall and 3-6 in league play after splitting two games last week. CSU rallied from a 19-point deficit to defeat Wright State, 68-63, on Thursday, but fell at Loyola, 79-78, on Saturday. Shalonda Winton leads the league in scoring (22.2).

MEN’S TENNIS Cleveland State will

return home this weekend, hosting Buffalo at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16. Saturday’s contest will take place at the Chagrin Valley Athletic Club, as the Vikings will be trying to break the program attendance record which was set last season. Last week, CSU dropped a pair of tough road contests, falling to Western Michigan and Illinois State by matching 5-2 scores. The doubles team of Ali Shabib and Niklas Jonsson picked up two wins on the week, including a victory over an Illinois State tandem that was ranked 58th in the nation.

SOFTBALL The Vikings will host the first-ever CSU Dome

Tournament on Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 16-17) with each team playing four games. CSU will play Bucknell at 3:00 p.m. and Canisius at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and Bucknell at 2:00 p.m. and St. Bonaventure at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. CSU opened the year by dropping all five games at the East Carolina Pirate Classic over the weekend. Susan Knight hit .333 (4-12) with three runs, a double, a homer and two RBI over the five games.

D evon L ong MEN’S BASKETBALL Cleveland State continues its busy stretch with three

games this week, starting with a 7:00 p.m. contest at Detroit on Tuesday (Feb. 11). The Vikings then return home to host Green Bay on Friday (Feb. 15) at 9:00 p.m. on ESPNU and Milwaukee on Sunday (Feb. 17) at 2:00 p.m. CSU is 12-13 overall and 4-7 in the Horizon League after splitting a pair of home games last week. The Vikings defeated Youngstown State, 66-60, on Tuesday (Feb. 5), but fell to league-leading Valparaiso, 80-72, on Saturday (Feb. 9). Devon Long scored a career-high 23 points in the win over YSU, hitting 9-of-11 from the floor to lead the Vikings. Bryn Forbes tallied a career-best 24 points in the loss to Valparaiso, his 17th game in double-digits out of the last 19 contests. The 24 points are the most by a CSU player this year. Charlie Lee handed out nine assists in the two games and became the fifth player in school history to reach 200 career assists as a sophomore. He enters the week with 202 career assists and leads the league with 5.1 assists per game.

Andrew Bailey led the squad with a 72.4 scoring average, including seven rounds of par or better, while Jon Riemer averaged 74.1 per round and had the team’s low round of the fall with a 68.

day, traveling to Xavier for a 7:00 p.m. contest. The Vikings dropped a 6-1 contest at Bowling Green on Saturday with Kara Sherwood earning CSU’s lone point with a victory at No. 4 singles. The doubles team of Ellen Folkers and Mathilde Orange also picked up a win, earning an 8-6 victory at No. 3 doubles. Entering the week, Sherwood has a team-best 2-2 singles record this spring, while Folkers and Orange own a 2-3 doubles record.

WRESTLING CSU is out of action until Feb. 24 when the Vikings host a quad with Ohio, Gardner-Webb and Illinois in Woodling Gym. The Vikings dropped a pair of matches last weekend, falling at Kent State (31-10) and at home to Clarion (23-9). Nick Flannery picked up two wins at 141 pounds, earning a 14-4 triumph at Kent State and a 6-3 win versus Clarion to improve to 7-2 in duals this season and 10-10 overall.

Shabib won a pair of doubles matches and one singles match last week. In a setback to Western Michigan on Friday, Shabib teamed with Niklas Jonsson for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles and also earned a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles. The following day, Shabib once again teamed with Jonsson at No. 1 doubles and earned an 8-6 win against the 58th-ranked team in the nation from Illinois State.
