MEN’S BASKETBALL The Vikings close out their regular
season when CSU travels to Loyola for a 3:00 p.m. EST contest on Saturday (March 2). CSU can still finish sixth, seventh or eighth in the final Horizon League standings. CSU is 14-16 overall and 5-10 in the league after splitting two games last week. The Vikings lost at home to Wright State (50-41) and won at Western Illinois, 60-54, in a BracketBuster game. CSU was just the second team to win at WIU in 12 tries this year at Charlie Lee and Bryn Forbes scored 16 points each.
MEN’S TENNIS CSU has a week off
from competition, before heading south for their annual trip to Florida. The Vikings take on North Florida (March 9), Central Florida (March 10) and Stetson (March 12) during their trip. Last week, CSU improved to 2-1 at home this season, defeating St. Bonaventure, 6-1. The Vikings swept the doubles matches for the second time this season, and had singles wins from Jorg van der Vloet (No. 1), Matt Kuelker (No. 2), Nolan Marks (No. 3), Niklas Jonsson (No. 5) and Matt Ford (No. 6).
WOMEN’S TENNIS CSU closes out its three-match
homestand on Friday, hosting IPFW at 7:00 p.m., before traveling to Duquesne on Saturday, March 1 at 4:00 p.m. The Vikings picked up a pair of victories in their home opener on Sunday, defeating Ball State (4-3) and Oakland (6-1). Alex Bush, Maria Lazaris and Ellen Folkers each picked up two singles wins on the day, while Folkers also went 2-0 in doubles action with partner Mathilde Orange.

ter stage this week as the squads travel to Chicago to compete in the Horizon League Championships from Wednesday through Sunday (Feb. 27-March 2). Both teams come into the event undefeated in the Horizon League on the year with the men going 3-0 in the league and the women going 4-0. The CSU men’s squad finished 13-3-1 this season, while the women went 12-4. Individually, multiple CSU swimmers currently hold top spots in the league rankings. On the men’s side, Berry Thompson, Mark De Swardt, Al Shillito, Nathan Grant, Justin Kermack, and Danny Roberts currently hold top league times/ scores. Alexandra Johansson also holds multiple league top times for the Viking women. Looking at the relays, the CSU women currently have the top times in the 200 free relay, 400 free relay, and 200 medley relay, while the CSU men hold the top 200 free relay time in the league.

Monday’s game is set for a 7:00 p.m. tip, while Saturday’s contest will begin at 2:00 p.m. and will also serve as Senior Day. Entering the week, CSU stands at 12-14 overall and 4-9 in league play after falling at Youngstown State last Thursday. Shalonda Winton became the all-time leading rebounder at CSU after nine boards against YSU, and enters the week with 1,033 career rebounds.
SOFTBALL Following a week off, CSU is back in action with four games at the Evansville Invitational this weekend. CSU starts the tournament with games against Austin Peay at 11:00 a.m. and Evansville at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday (March 2) and plays IUPUI at 10:00 a.m. and Austin Peay at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday (March 3). The Vikings are 3-6 overall after winning three of four games at the CSU Dome Tournament on Feb. 1617. Dara Toman (Player) and Susan Knight (Pitcher) earned Horizon League Player of the Week honors.
WRESTLING The Vikings ended their regular season over the weekend, going 1-2 in a quad meet on Sunday in Woodling Gyn. CSU opened the competition with setbacks to Ohio and Northern Illinois, before an 18-15 win over Gardner-Webb. Nick Flannery went 3-0 with two pins, while Corey Carlo and Riley Shaw each picked up two wins on Sunday.. CSU is now out of action until the EWL Championships on March 9 at Edinboro.

Flannery was dominant at the CSU Quad on Sunday, winning all three of his matches, including two with pins. He opened the vent with a pin in 2:50 against Ohio and followed that with a 10-6 decision against Northern Illinois. Flannery concluded his afternoon with another pin, this one in 3:51 in a CSU win over Gardner-Webb. He is now 13-10 this season and leads the team with four pins.
