CSU, who enters the weekend with a 9-7 (1-0 HL) record, will be playing at home for the first time in over a month on Saturday. The Vikings opened Horizon League play with a 4-3 victory at Detroi on Friday, posting their third straight win over the Titans. CSU collected four singles victories to claim the win, including one from junior Maria Lazaris who posted her 50th career singles win. The Vikings also got wins from Catrine Bjerrehus at No. 1 singles, Alex Power at No. 5 singles and Mengdi Liu at the No. 6 spot. Power’s victory marked her 18th of the year, and she is now just two wins shy of her first 20-win season. Liu, who won by default at Detroit, has won seven straight, with two of those wins coming by default.

SOFTBALL CSU is back in action this week when the Vikings head to Robert Morris for a doubleheader at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday before a three-game series at Youngstown State with two games on Friday and a single game on Saturday. The Vikings opened Horizon League play with a 1-2 trip to Chicago where they took on the defending Horizon League Tournament champions from UIC. CSU took the first game on Saturday (March 24) by a 3-1 count, thanks to a solo homer from Dara Toman and a two-out, two-run single in the sixth from Andrea Nagy. That was all the support starting pitcher Sara Shields needed as she allowed just one run in her seven innings of work. UIC took the second game of the doubleheader 8-1 and won Sunday’s (March 25) rubber game 6-5 in 10 innings.
