VOLLEYBALL The Vikings continue the second half of the league

WOMEN’S SOCCER CSU returns home for the

first time in three weeks with two matches this week. The Vikings host Youngstown State on Wednesday (Oct. 19) at 7:00 p.m. and Detroit at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday (Oct. 23). They are the final two regular season home contests for CSU. The Vikings dropped their lone contest last week, falling at Longwood, 1-0, on Saturday (Oct. 15).

schedule this week against Loyola and Youngstown State. CSU will travel to Loyola for an 8:00 p.m. EST contest on Tuesday (Oct. 18), before hosting Youngstown State at 7:00 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 21). Last week the Vikings split their contests, as they swept Wright State in straight sets and fell to Butler, 3-0. CSU enters Tuesday’s contest with a 14-6 overall record and a 7-2 mark in league play, ranking second in the league standings.

MEN’S SOCCER Thanks to 11 saves from Horizon League Player

of the Week Brad Stuver and goals from Aaron Adkins and Admir Suljevic, the Vikings defeated UIC 2-1 on Friday (Oct. 14) to move into sole possession of first place in the Horizon League. CSU hosts a non-league game with IUPUI on Wednesday (Oct. 19) at 4:00 p.m. before re-entering league play on Saturday (Oct. 22) when Green Bay visits Krenzler Field at 7:00 p.m.

MEN’S TENNIS The Vikings closed out their 2011 fall schedule by competing at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships in Columbus, Ohio, over the weekend. Jorg Van Der Vloet won two matches on day one in the qualifier bracket, while Yannick Goossens and Ali Shabib both competed in the main draw. Both Goossens and Shabib finished the fall season with six wins apiece.

day (Oct. 15) with Midnight Madness in Woodling Gym. After a pre-event tailgate, patrons filled Woodling and watched as members of the men’s and women’s teams were introduced one by one from the stands. After changing into their uniforms, both teams did a few drills before five members of the men’s team participated in the slam dunk contest. Each player was paired with a member of the women’s team who assisted in a dunk. Marlin Mason’s dunk over Cori Coleman may have been the most impressive, but it was Ike Nwamu who won the competition, highlighted by his reverse 360 through the legs.

MEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING The Vikings won all but three races in their first dual meet of the season on

He was also part of a victorious 200 medley relay team. CSU hosts its first meet of the season on Saturday (Oct. 22) against Green Bay at 12:00 p.m.

WOMEN’S TENNIS Following a week off, Cleveland State concludes its fall season by competing at the ITA Midwest Regionals in Columbus, Ohio, from Thursday through Sunday (Oct. 20-24). Alex Power leads the team with seven singles wins this fall, while Maria Lazaris has five.

CROSS COUNTRY The Vikings are out of action until Oct. 29 when

CSU hosts the Horizon League Championship at Squire Valleeview Farm in Gates Mills, Ohio. The Vikings placed 25th of 29 teams at the Penn State National on Friday (Oct. 14) as Allison Craine led the CSU contingent. She placed 137th in 24:00 on the 6K course.

Last Week Stuver helped the Vikings move into first place in the Horizon League standings with a career-high 11 saves in a 2-1 victory at UIC on Saturday night. Last season’s Horizon League Goalkeeper of the Year, Stuver ranks second in the league in saves (54) and shutouts (4) and fifth in goals against average (1.54).
